Happy anniversary, Bsweet and dh!

I’m staying awhile in the garage attic while dgrands play their version of pool. We ate lunch at the restaurant across the street from our church. They played softball for a little while but when they wanted to come out here, I thought I should supervise.

We also has All Saints Day at church, and I kinda dreaded it, but it was a nice service.
However, a lot of us were in shock at some news that arrived just as Sunday School was starting.
The owner of our local BBQ restaurant died this morning! 53 years old. He was a lifelong friend of my dbro, and his dad was a lifelong friend of dh’s. His dad’s first cousin is one of my best friends. Lots of connections here and I will be going to the funeral when arrangements are made.
He an only child and has two children of his own, one who is graduating high school this year.
I just can’t imagine the pain and shock they are all feeling at this point. Dmom wants me to order flowers.
It sounds a lot like my dh’s death, except apparently, his wife found him unresponsive, instead of being there as he was losing consciousness.

We certainly never know what a day will bring.

thanksgiving decorations are up. I don't have much. DD older wanted to put Christmas up today but I said I wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving for a couple weeks.
All of halloween is put away.

dd has the dw on and shortbread cookies, she made, in the fridge for a bit. She is practicing for the holidays.

It has been a revolving front door for the past hour or so.

DS16 and friend went mudding in friends 4x4 at the lake. Now they are in the shop repairing the 4x4 because that is what they do. Break it. Fix it.

Our new son in law brought DD13 home along with a big bowl of freshly made tomato soup. He stayed and visited with us sharing what is going on in his life. I don't think I have shared here that DD48 got married again. The marriage ceremony was low key as they could make it. They hired a person online to marry them over zoom. No one was invited to the event. Afterward DD48 texted a picture of the marriage certificate to me and the kids to let us know it happened. She changed her last name on FB and that was the entire event. I don't think anyone has noticed on FB that her last name changed a couple weeks ago. DD48 and new-to-us SIL have lived together for 3-4 years. This is the most stable relationship DD48 has had. They live apart 6 months of the year as DSIL travels to other continents for work. The biggest change I see happening is now DD48 has health insurance.
Out of curiosity and a bit of memory exercise, DH and I sat and tried to name our previous sons-in-law (DD48 husbands). To the best of our ability this is husband #5. We aren't sure though because she has lived for a year or two with several others, but we don't remember them getting married. It could be #8 or #9. Not that it matters other than being a good memory exercise.

DBro just called and said a tornado is on the ground about 20 miles away headed in this direction. I called and got DDS16 and friends out of the mud (again). They are safe and aware. I guess I better be a typical Okie and go stand outside and watch the sky

No tornadoes happened here. We watched the cows because they are one of the best predictors of bad weather (IMHO). They were laying down in the middle of pasture so we knew lightning strike possibilities were high. Then the cattle got up and started grazing so our confidence grew that we were okay. We have lost electricity about a half dozen times in the last 12 hours. So far it is restored each time within an hour or so. The house generator is getting a good workout .

I love it - break it and fix it! he will have lots of good memories of this time.
I wish your dd and your d son in law many years of happiness - that the two be blessed the rest of their lives.

Quick check in, I was looking to make sure LadyM was ok, the tornadoes made it across my news feed and it was just as quick to check here as it was to read the article and then look at a map to see where in the state they hit.

All Saints Day here too, the new minister doesn't preach from the lectionary so I got to read some Leviticus and then Exodus Passover instructions (common theme was slavery.) In my head I had gone through several guesses on how he was going to preach on it but guessed wrong. He was asking which side we are on in the story; are we the Egyptian oppressors or the Hebrew slaves, and then tying it to modern days by having us figure out ways to limit our purchases to minimize the amount of things we buy that are made by companies that are using slave labor or near-slave labor. If we buy from the slave owners, that makes us complicit.

I was both reader and served communion this morning. Made it to church on time despite the dang time change.

Picked up some groceries on the way home, had breakfast (wasn't hungry before church due to the time change), and then mostly wasted the afternoon although I did get the building halloween decorations boxed up finally, and cooked up the bacon that was best before tomorrow.

Dinner will be shortly and will be soup and grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches.

I have an important email to write and then I'll be off to bed early. Tomorrow is a busy day, with a meeting at night and checking out a retirement home in the morning (as an option for where to encourage my sister to move to.)

I really must start my SAD light therapy tomorrow as well. Things are really going poorly here and that might help.

Online worship service was very good today. Interesting message, learned something. Music was not my cup of tea but very talented folks as far as having remarkable voices, so I did appreciate it.

Congratulations to dd and new son-in-law, LadyM. That's nice that he would STAY A WHILE with you and dh and that he brought you soup! He sounds stable and pleasant.

We had dd26 STAY A WHILE with us today. She brought me yarn and hooks 5mm and slightly smaller for crochet. We miss her a great deal, and it's hard not to blurt that out. Trying not to put burdens on, or guilt, though. Next weekend, our own "new" son-in-law will come with her. This weekend he was making some extra money finishing up art commissions. (He designs art for musicians' cassette tapes.)

Dstepson STAYED A WHILE on our roof blowing the leaves out of the gutters before rain on Wed/Thurs.

WonderBoy held the ladder. Neither of them came in, but HRH went out and chatted.

Nancy or others who crochet, this yarn is too nice. She brought me really pretty blends in small balls/skeins, not sensible yarn. I love her for it, but I want to practice and I'm too cheap a person to use this nice stuff to make mistakes. My best advice to myself is to go to WMart tomorrow and buy an Acrylic skein that says it takes a 5mm hook, maybe something a little more interesting than a solid but not a variegated, so it looks simple to me as I start working with rows. Does that sound about right?
