Tackling Tuesday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

As we spiral towards Twin's Birthday, Hanukah, and Christmas (the same day this year!), we need to continue to tackle the items on our lists.

Hopefully those who had a successful day yesterday will put two days of productivity in a row. And those who weren't happy with their progress yesterday will find things go more smoothly today.

Here's my reworked list for today. Several items were added but several of the big ones were half done yesterday. For instance, I should have no more than 15 minutes of vacuuming today, down from almost an hour to do the whole apartment thoroughly.

So there are 15 items today, instead of 17 (which was always meant to be completed over 2 days.)

The items are still in rough order of priority.

[ ] Finish the Christmas Eve Church Service Bulletin
[ ] Clean humidifier in dgs3.5’s room
[ ] Finish Vacuuming the apartment
[ ] Wash the kitchen floor.
[ ] Clean the bathrooms
[ ] At least two loads of laundry
[ ] Errand: Take my jewelry to the jewelry for repair.
[ ] Errand (added today): Pick up dd’s present from store attached to a decent sized mall
[ ] Errand: (Added today) Shop at the same mall for presents and boots for me. Although the cheaply made A-river dress boots are working quite well, I’d prefer mid-calf height, not knee-high. These have been a blessing in that I needed boots for Sunday and they arrived Saturday night. Ds’s driveway is very icy and they had reasonable grip which is what I was looking for. (The better quality pair that arrived earlier in the week were not wide enough.)
[ ] Drop the unsuitable boots off for the A-river return.
[ ] DPC: Phone the clock repair guy about the clock in for repair
[ ] Book an adjustment appointment for my new orthotic. It took about 6 hours of wear before the same problem as before reared its head.
[ ] Book a doctor's appointment for my hips/knees. Time to get in the queue for x-rays, a referral to physio and/or onto a waiting list for surgery.
[ ] Write the words I'll be using on Advent 4 for the children’s time
[ ] Write my stuff for the December 29. I found the shared file of that service yesterday.

Walking around the apartment this morning was quite pleasant since the oppressiveness of all the bins, the piles of things on the table and chairs, and the crunchiness of the floors is gone. Breathing space runs through the foyer, bedrooms, living and dining rooms (except my living room desk which is piled with resource materials for writing the service.) The kitchen counters are pretty tidy but it will feel great to get the kitchen floor cleaned. The office isn't too bad either except for dust and floor. That will be taken care of when dh has his breakfast at noon.

Lucylee: Dd finally realized, when dgs8 not only refused to come out to dinner with me but actively hid from me, that he is starting to withdraw too much into their little family. (more in J&C)

My tea, chocolate, and light therapy are done so I shall poof and get dressed. The first load of laundry will be ready to flip by the time I finish that.

Morning…

Boy Kathryn looks like you’ll be having a busy day!

Not me. Made an executive decision that I’m done with my decorations and calling it done. I have two mose surgeries coming up.. the big one on Dec 27… and not sure how my mobility will be affected.

I decided I don’t any to take down and put away any more than what I’ve already done. Sweetie doesn’t care so I’m done. I’m happy with that. All my cards are mailed, but left my card station up so I can mail out cards to people who send me cards, but addresses I don’t have.

Need to do my morning routines. Slept in as I have nothing planned for the day, and now working on my coffee and flaxseed muffin.

Waving to y’all…

That is the leg, Ramblin'? All best wishes and hopefully mostly superficial healing needed. That is a pretty good date, scheduling-wise, getting it done but out of the way of family enjoyment time.

Boy, howdy, Kathryn has her 2nd, 3rd and 10th wind lately. Getting lots done, knowing all the dotted "i"s and crossed "t"s.

"Tackling" - I first read "tacking" and thought of boating and wondered if blessed started us!

"Tackling" - I no longer feel like verbally tackling anyone. But I did call dr's office last evening because of rapid-fire symptom changes. Mostly a bad sore throat. Instant call-back, helpful but so fast I left one question unasked. Yes, another likely symptom of the same things. Then a message from dr this morning first thing on their auto-messaging.

Speaking - I can't. So often I have said, with a loss of one thing or another, "Well, that's not my identity." But talking? Talking? :|

I slept in the way we often sleep in this house - enough time but interrupted. I had to get up in the night because of pain once, because of Tobias feeling sick once. I'm grateful, though. Nurse on phone last night said "Well, GOOD!" when I told her steroid pills were over - she agreed they cause problems even if they are important.

Hi! I had 2 main things to deal with today. Giving a full tin of cookies to the customer that was here on Sunday. He gave us a tin of store bought cookies. I used the same tin to give him his cookies. He was saying "Hey, why are you giving me back the same tin of cookies??" I told him we were just recycling the tin.

LucyLee as far as freezing cookies in tins. I use Christmas cookie tins and there is parchment paper on the bottom and between every layer, plus mor on top. I don't think I would do this for long term freezing, but all of the baking has been done in December and it will all be given away in December.

The only other thing I have to really deal with today is the water delivery and I don't know what time they are coming.

I need to sign some Christmas cards for next Monday morning's stitch group. I also want to do some for Friday's group.

Dh is asking if I am doing any more baking. I have 2 sticks of unsalted butter that I want to use up, so there is more shortbread to be made. I also need to find mincemeat.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Harriet… yes my leg. It is on the left side of my calf and looks like a volcano. I had the same thing on the outer part of my upper left arm several years ago.

At that time I had 15 stitches internally and 20 to close it up.

What I am concerned about is that this one sits on part of my calf muscle. In order to surgically remove it the area will be cut oval shape and much larger than my volcano. After it is removed I’ll have to wait while the dr checks to see if he got all of it. Usually takes an hour. If he’s been successful he will sew me up. If not, he will need to remove more in that area.

Then I return I return 6 days later to have the same procedure done by my right temple. I’m not too concerned about it because the area is very small. Then I return on Jan 9th to have all my stitches removed.

However I just discover what I think is another volcano developing on the top of my left wrist. Will have them check out as well.

I like talking about tacking a sailboat :D brings back great memories

I looked it up and it reminded me of the house: keep on swimming, don't get stuck where you shouldn't be, check before going off to an area that is not where you want to go, tidy up - pick it up and put away what you worked on. :D

Tacking is a sailing maneuver that involves turning a sailboat's bow into the wind to change the direction of the boat:
same with my house?

Momentum: Start the tack with some momentum so you can get through the no-go zone without relying on wind.

Don't linger: Avoid lingering in the middle of the tack, or you'll lose momentum and get stuck.

Check the area: Before turning, make sure the area is clear.

Tidy up: Once the boat is on the new course, tidy up the lines.
