First Saturday's Special January Preparations

Post by Harriet »

Last evening lucylee shared ideas about considering January the month of PREPARATION.

That's a good word. I've always thought January is a special month. Here in my hemisphere/country, you couldn't so much as cut a blade of grass if you wanted to (maybe if you flew to Key West, but it's not your grass). So, focus is helpfully narrowed for you to mostly indoors. Even though decor may still be celebrating with a festive look, the celebratory holidays are over, and what's done is done.

You can take a step back, breathe and think. What would you like your year to look like? How are you going to step into that role and make it so?

I feel slightly cheated of my January this time, because some must be spent queasy, lol. ((Other villagers)) feel the same way because of med stuff and recuperations. But, hey, even that is accomplishing something. We must go through point A to get to point B.

Morning…

Not sure how much I will accomplish today.
Laundry… missed that on Thursday
Wound care
Footprints…yikes they are every where!
Morning routines …my bed hasn’t been completely made in days, but I did get clean sheets on yesterday
Start gathering Cmas decorations.
Make muffins for Sweetie

If I can get all of that done, I’ll consider my day a success. Not over with whatever I have, but better. Just wish I had my energy back/

Hi!

I need to finish getting dressed so I can go to the once-a-month stitching group. Most of the women in this group are doing applique work. There is some embroidery going on as well as counted cross stitch.

Contemplating making liver and onions with mashed potatoes tonight. I know dh won't object.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Dgd's family birthday party has been cancelled due to illness, they are all hit with a tummy bug. Honestly, I can't figure out how they get so sick, so often. Dgd threw up once in the car on the way home from that, but just the one time, for the second time when coming to our place so we figured car sickness (plus she had got quite nauseous with me one time). Then 2 days later dgs threw up. Then 2 days later dgd threw up again and now the parents have fallen.

We'll drop off the presents later.

In the meantime, I'm taking the day off. I shouldn't but I am.

Awe. It happened. I have reached my last free day of Christmas break. Tomorrow, we return to our normal schedule and activities. I feel so blessed to be able to experience such a long break.

My calendar is clear today. Options. I have abundant options available.

(((RR))) You have just had 2 back-to-back surgeries. Your body needs time to heal. (((Hugs))) Sending you healing thoughts and a bucket load of patience.

((((LucyLee)))) You are in my thoughts. What are you going to do today? Can you think of one thing to focus your time and thoughts toward? ....and yes, this is blatantly obvious I am trying to distract you while you are in waiting mode.

d harriet - you are truly one of my favorite writers - you have wisdom, you inspire, you give hope, help us focus, give us smiles and laughter, help us be proud of our chosen profession and are a joy!
praying the nauseous feeling goes away soon! May we give you, in this time, what you always give us!

I want to take and see what I want this year to be - the things I can choose. I love learning and that seems to be the first thing that goes when things get hectic - I want that to be a priority again!

d Lucy preparation is a good word! thank you! I am praying for you as January continues on; that the tasks and procedures are easier than you expect, that all good things come your way from this moment on!

d rose hello how is your wound healing? I am praying that it starts healing and feeling better! what type of muffins are you making?
clean sheets - yay!
Better is always good to celebrate!

d cathy hi too
ooo have fun at stitching group!

d kathryn oh no sorry there has been illness in the family! fast healing to your family!!! good for you for taking the day off - we all need that.

d lady - I am so happy you had a lovely break!!!
enjoy today!!!!
I was curious how does homeschooling ds work with him being 16? How does he do chemistry, math etc. does dd13 get homework she has to do or do they do that at school. I love to learn from you!

hello d twins and everyone!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Mom is a stinker sometimes - I wasn't feeling good last night and I went to bed early - she slept in her pjs

She is like a stubborn little one who wants to sit and not do what they should. She turned to me and smiled that she was going to wear her dirty cloths all day. -( I had willie nelson music on and then weavers and I had to shut down the computer to get her to move.)

will she get dressed? I have no idea? right now she is with her cloths in the bathroom.

I can hear her singing over and over again.

"You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store"

as for me:
all the breakfast dishes are hand washed - they need to be dried and put away
stove and counters are washed.
I have to empty the dw from last night
I have to get myself dressed

SHE GOT DRESSED IN NEW CLOTHS - CELEBRATING inside!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Good morning! DC’s play went well. DH made dinner — salmon — after we got back from the wake, and we had plenty of time before we had to go to the play.

Well, as of this morning, I can join lucylee in her fretting. Saw definite pink. Fortunately, I have what I have grown to call my “semi-annual hoo-ha inspection” in just under three weeks. It usually consists of the NP asking if I’ve had any spotting (up till now, no) and checking to make sure the IUD’s still in place. If I have any real spotting before then, I will message her to see if I should come in earlier (if she even has an earlier appointment available). But I have already found myself wondering if every gas pain is a cramp. So easy to worry.

DH has just returned from the funeral the wake was for. He knows the deceased’s daughter from work as well as the parish, so he felt he should go. Now we get to figure out juggling transportation for this afternoon. DC has a noon call time (so needs to go soon); DD wants to go see the show at 2:30 as well as go shopping. DC will go out with the cast after the show and will then need to be picked up from there. (They could probably get a ride, but it’s out of the way for their other cast members, and they got a ride last night.) It sounds like DH is planning to do most, if not all, of the driving, so hooray.

Sorry to hear your DD’s family is sick, Kathryn.

I should head back to Mt. Washmore, then, so I can choose clothes based on what I want to wear instead of just what’s clean. I think I’m going to have some tea first. Hot beverage — check. Caffeine — check.

Blessed…you have me singing Tennessee Ernie Fords 16 tons! Btw the muffins are chocolate chip.

Laundry… one load done, another going.
Master bedroom done
Kitchen done, but I need to clean up my new mess
Bathrooms swished and wiped down
Both wounds cleaned and re-bandage . Leg looks a little red but it’s on the outside of my calf. I think it’s do to long pants rubbing it at times, plus I sleep on my right side.

Another load just finished, need to reload the drier and start another one in the washer. I have 3 to do all together start to finish.
