Dh and I watched the men's championship game for this curling tournament. One of the teams from Scotland won. Now dh is watching another football game.

It was nice to sit on the couch (sofa? chesterfield?) and watch the snow coming down.

Scalloped potatoes are in the oven. Chicken goes in around 4. (I think)

Laundry never stops.

We are having another slower paced day while enjoying long weekend.

I have texted with DGS27 and spent time updating and improving spreadsheets. I have an idea for a new spreadsheet but I haven't created it yet. I want to visualize the format and what information it should capture.

I have cooked 2 meals today and am in process of preparing potatoes for the next couple of days.

My U.S. TikTok friends are giving a big sigh of relief and stopped experiencing withdrawal.

We have 2 extra teens here today.

I had to come downstairs because I got hungry. I've cleaned up (stacked) genealogy papers to neaten the area. I've been going through my old notebooks. When I started genealogy I printed everything and put in a notebook by surname. I didn't have Ancestry and had to go to library to see census records on microfilm and then print. So much of the stuff can be discarded. But I'm plowing through, pulling out some things that I want to save, and scanning those upstairs. If the notebooks are cleared that makes room in the bookcase.

I really need to decide what genealogy publications to keep. Way back before covid I could tell myself that I could find them at the library - and then there was COVID. And some are online - if I continue as a member of the organization I can access them online too.

I am still in pajamas. It's 29 degrees out but I'm going to change and bundle up and walk the dog. Dh has walked her morning and evening but I should get some walking in too.

This is basically a three day week - we're heading off to a Florida wedding on Thursday and don't get back until Monday midday. And I just asked dh if the market was open tomorrow and it's not, so he will be home too. Said he might go to the office for awhile. (I've reminded him he'll need to clear out his office. I've seen it, he should start now.)

Oh, and he will be back home tonight - everyone else on his team is out so he doesn't bowl. Have to have two there. So he shows up and they reschedule.

Dog was walked. It "feels like" 19 degrees. One lap was enough.

I need to do some downstairs tasks, including folding laundry and rebooting, and p.m. routine. Before I start I should probably go upstairs and close down that room a bit, lights out, computer off. Dh has left for bowling but won't be that long so I'm guessing I should stay downstairs with him for the evening.

I'm going to make decaf coffee to warm up too. I'll set a timer for 45 min when I get started working downstairs. That should do it.

Been thinking how paper taming did not really seem to be self care but as I thought about it I think it is'
like a gift to my future self. It also reduced stress just knowing that it's done.
A plus that it does not have to be done again. I elevated the shredder so I do not have to hunch over to do it as well.

Taking breaks and had hot cocoa coffee was good for me and then I had a cough drop that helped my throat and sinuses
and I got better as the way went on.

And I'm calling it done. I need to go back upstairs for my water tumbler, tho.

I'm making a list for tomorrow and realized I can't go to the bank and also will have to wait another day before checking to see if the $$ being transferred from website are in our account.

Yes, I agree Nancy. Knowing things are tidy.

I guess I have been nurturing myself -- I went to church, dgrands and I ate at restaurant across from the church, then dgd was ready to go home, and she (reluctantly) agreed to let DGS stay with me tonight and she would take the next school holiday.

DGS and I have had football on all day, and my goodness -- the snow in Philadelphia! :!:  That was unbelievable! Now we're watching the Bills and Ravens, and they have a lot of snow too -- but it's not the snow globe Cathy described earlier. I do not see how the fans can stand it out there -- although I checked the temp during the Philadelphia game, and it was only one degree less than it was here. Right now, we are at 27/feels like 17. Looks like our low is predicted to be 9 degrees, at 7:00 a.m. There's no snow predicted, but I'm wondering if they will go to school Tuesday -- at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, the weather app says 17 degrees, and the high for the day is 31. I know that's just normal for some of y'all in January, but it is COLD down here in the South. They were even predicting snow in New Orleans, I think! (All precipitation that is predicted is south of me this time.)
Talked to the VP of our teacher group and we decided to cancel our Tuesday meeting. We can't even get people to show up in good weather, LOL.

I've felt kinda edgy this evening...
-- could be the preacher talking about a surgery she had and she said she bit the anesthesiologist's finger when he was trying to put her breathing tube in... :? I DO NOT WANT A BREATHING TUBE. I am TERRIFIED of that, under any circumstances. I have a REALLY quick gag reflex, and I can't stand the thought of anything in my throat. I am hoping this will be very similar to being put to sleep for the colonoscopy. Whatever they did to me, I was totally unaware. I was on the table, and I told the doctor, "Don't touch my butt with that tube until you KNOW I am totally out." And the next thing, I was back in the recovery room. That is what I am hoping for with this. It is still not scheduled. I may call them tomorrow, or I may wait until Tuesday.
-- could be football. I really caught myself thinking I wish dh was here to watch all these snow games. He would love it.
-- could be the inauguration tomorrow. DH was kinda a political/current events junkie. Y'all know how he used to read 4 papers a day and 5 on Thursdays. I'll be watching everything tomorrow, but I don't keep up with it all like he did. I wish he was here to watch this also. (Don't mean this to be political in a controversial way; as a social studies teacher, dh would be watching no matter which party won.)
-- could be that I think I have a sinus infection. Really stuffy and congested. Still something going around here -- dbil, DS, and ddil all stayed home from church this morning. DDIL said sinus drainage/etc had her throwing up.
-- could be the Wolf Chilli we ate for supper. DH loved that too. DGS ate almost two pretty large bowls. (Hope you're feeling better by now, Rose.)

At any rate, I napped awhile this afternoon, and then after supper, I washed some dishes that had been piling up for several days, s/s the kitchen, etc... and did my allergy shots. I'm about to work on my planner for the coming week, and maybe read some of my e-library book. It's just a young adult romance, but I've gotten into it and with the e-library, it will disappear when two weeks are up, so I have to be consistent and get it done. DS and DDIL gave me a reading journal for Christmas, and I'm going to keep up with how many books I read. I don't really have a set goal, but I'm thinking I should read at least 25. I'm on #2 and #3 right now -- this one, If Only I Had Told Her, and the other one I had started before it became available -- Get Out of Your Head.
I have a TON of laundry to do, but it is my plan to fit that in tomorrow. And maybe clear the dining room table of all the Christmas misc that goes in boxes. The mantle and hearth are still decorated, and the tree is still up -- I'm still maintaining that I am leaving it up until I get good news from the biopsy, as a sign of faith.

blessed, I hope your mom -- and you and dh -- have a very restful night.

Florida sounds like a great idea, Twins! Although it does promise to be warmer this weekend.

Nancy, I've been using cough/throat lozenges at night, and I'm taking Musinex, but nothing is really helping right now.

I have a few friends that were very upset about Tik Tok, LadyM. I don't have it -- I waste enough time on FB and playing Cube Block. DDIL will be lost without it, though. I think it may be back by tomorrow, if it's not already. I was seeing mixed messages on FB about it. Fifteen-year-old cousin seems to be having a hard time without it.

Cathy, I love scalloped potatoes -- and au gratin potatoes. I need to buy some to go with some of this beef I have in the freezer. DH was NOT a fan -- he said he didn't know you could do anything bad to a potato, until I made au gratin potatoes once.

Mystery, I hope y'all have a good night and roads aren't too bad for your dh.

Also sending big (((HUGS))) and prayers to Harriet. I don't think she has posted today.

Y'all know how some people write "alternative" histories -- well DGS is doing his own alternative geography. He has a map of Europe on the computer, and he keeps calling me in to see how he is changing the boundary lines. He started in the 1500s and he is now in the 1700s. I have no idea what he bases this on, but he knows what all the real countries are, and he is putting some of them in what they were in ancient times, and some he just randomly assigns, I think. He has been doing this for several days, when he has been here.

Y'all stay warm!
