Top-Notch Tuesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Tuesday is totally Top-Notch for me because I'm home, home, home! What will make today top-notch at your own home? Will it be being with beloved family, like bw2 and her dmom? Or taking care of self, as LadyM is prioritizing? or maybe just a sense of well-being from going about our tasks with finesse and expertise?

Thinking of Harriet and hoping for a top-notch day at her house too. I think this is nausea week.

Thank you for such a terrific start Twins' Mom!!

It snowed a tiny bit overnight, but there was non-stop wind to go with it. My patio looks almost clear, but the car and truck will need to be cleared off and the windows scraped before we go anywhere. It's still windy and the temperature was minus 6 when I got up.

I have been stitching and enjoying the quietness of the house. Of course the cats make a bit of noise, but it can be blocked out if needed. I also emptied the dishwasher while I was reheating my tea.

This, Cathy:
enjoying the quietness of the house.
Me too!

And the sun is out today, heading to high of 55! I'll basically be out for the afternoon. I have to cool my heels for a little less than an hour between therapist appt and workout this afternoon.

I've unpacked my bag and put things away mostly. First load of laundry hung up to dry, second is running now.

Still need to eat breakfast, walk dog, s2s. Since I have almost an hour downtown later, I may go to bank for HOA downtown and do the return at Staples another day - the HOA bank branch that is near Staples is in the other direction. It was too much to ask dh to pick up my OTC calcium supplement at CVS yesterday so I need to get that today also. The roomba also needs to happen. The sneakers I wore Thursday a.m. as we were leaving had mud on them from walking dog the day before, so there's clumps of dirt all over.

I cleaned my travel CPAP which, as it turned out, I didn't use on this trip. Instead of a tray for distilled water, it has a moisture disc with a fitting - the air goes through it. While packing CPAP and checking it, I accidentally threw out one side of the fitting for the disc, so could not connect it. Fitting was fished out of bedroom trash can this a.m., so I cleaned everything. Will put away when dry, ready for next trip.

I think my plan is to have breakfast/brunch, then walk ddog, then s2s. And regroup then.

I have my usual runny nose and cough - mentally checking myself for COVID. Flying on Thursday and yesterday, party in close quarters on Sat p.m. and big wedding on Sunday. Conditions for spreading cooties.

Good morning!

OK here. DC is at school; their day will be a bit longer than usual because they’re staying for an open mic event. Don’t know if they’re just planning to listen or will put themself forward. They have a lovely singing voice.

Got a call from the NP’s nurse; I was supposed to have a virtual appointment at 11:40, but the results from my ultrasound are not back yet, so she’s postponing. We’ll try for 1:00. I’m a little worried about bumping into DD’s drive time.

Today we are trying 15 mg of the Adderall. I still managed to doze off in my chair watching last night’s monologues, but I think maybe I’m a little more focused. The jury’s still out.

Dfriend called about work for this year. She said they have several projects coming up. I told her I’m quite available. This will make my therapist happy; she thinks I need the structure. (She doesn’t know that, depending on the project, it can still be a little loosey-goosey.)

LadyM, is HOCO homecoming or something else?

I hope the sniffles turn out to be nothing, Twins.

Next up for me — lunch, I think. Kung Pao chicken left over from Sunday. A beef roast is in the crockpot for today and will serve for shredded beef sandwiches on Thursday. I’m getting to the point where I should start working on the next shopping list.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning
Is the emotional checklist something you just came up with or is there something online I could use?
It is not something I came up with. I am sorta clueless in how to implement taking better care of my mental health care. A couple times in my life when i was struggling emotionally/mentally the doctor only response was to give me prescription med. Those meds did help me get through a difficult phase of life and I am grateful for them. However, I did have to deal with withdrawal and taking myself off them a few months later. The side effects of the meds were not worth taking at that point. the difficult life phase passed and I could cope without the meds so I stopped taking them.
I have now watched while DD13 worked with her counselor using an emotional wheel in learning to name the emotions DD13 was feeling and also the appropriate response. I might be over stating it, but learning how to do this was a skill that was life changing for DD13. I put a couple links that I am using to become aware of my emotional/mental state in H&F.
LadyM, is HOCO homecoming or something else?
Yes, homecoming. I don't know how this is done in other places but here high schoolers get all dressed up and have a dance after crowning the king & queen. It is probably laughable how small schools pull this off with donated funds and volunteer decorations/music/lights/etc, but it is considered to be an event that many look forward to each year. The dance is held in the biggest room available at the school, which is the cafeteria. They push the lunch tables to the side and open up dance floor. Girls are in formals and heels. The guys sometimes do tux or suits but most just wear a dress shirt/pants. There are two dress-up events each year at school - HOCO and prom.
More than you ever want to know. LOL I am chatty ....wondering what emotion word that would be?

Well, let’s see how too-notch it will be. I’m at the foot doctor’s office with dmom.
Did NOTHING except s2s and devotional this morning before leaving.
Thanks, LadyM, for the emotional tracking helps. I may do that for awhile. Maybe I am making progress.
Tomorrow is another day.

I was walking towards the bedroom to read (AKA getting into bed, reading for 5 minutes and falling asleep) and dh asked if I wanted to go to the local Y for a "swim" (he meant trying out the large hot tub) so I told him to phone and find out what the cost was and if the pool area was open. So we ended up going to the Y and going in the "hot" tub. It wasn't very hot. Turns out it is the "Warm pool" because it is rather large. I also had the joy of having a sauna!! I love saunas. They are so HOT! This was a dry sauna. I left after less than 10 minutes. Oh, it was SO NICE to be hot.

The only problem is that now I really want to go have a nap.

We are having baked yams and shake'n'bake pork chops for supper.

I have been cross stitching for most of the day. I have been working on a Dimensions kit called "Mason Jar Lineup". Today was stitching the jar at the right end and the flowers in it.

I love saunas.
Me too! I used to drive 50ish miles to use one. It felt wonderful. Luxuriously wonderful. Afterward sauna I would do a quick shower and then go into the swimming pool.

Most everything got done (dailies). Today food prep was -
** Taquitos
** Hoagie bread pizzas
** Mac and cheese
the teens will be happy.

Now it is time to get DD13 from school and go to the city for her counselor appt. *POOF*
