Re: Twist and Shout on Thurday @ TDD - C&C
"Twist and Shout" is a 1961 song written by Phil Medley and Bert Berns (later credited as "Bert Russell"). It was originally recorded by The Top Notes, but it did not become a hit in the record charts until it was reworked by the Isley Brothers for their album Twist & Shout in 1962. The song has been covered by several artists, including the Beatles, Salt-N-Pepa, and Chaka Demus & Pliers, who experienced chart success with their versions.
The Beatles' rendition of "Twist and Shout" was released on their first UK album Please Please Me in 1963, inspired by the Isley Brothers' version. John Lennon provided the lead vocals and initially felt ashamed of his performance in the song "because I could sing better than that, but now it doesn't bother me. You can hear that I'm just a frantic guy doing his best." A second take was attempted, but Lennon had nothing left due to a hoarse voice, and it was abandoned. At the end of the song, Lennon can be heard coughing. The Beatles' version of "Twist and Shout" has been called "the most famous single take in rock history." Mark Lewisohn called it "arguably the most stunning rock and roll vocal and instrumental performance of all time."

Re: Twist and Shout on Thurday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for another musical start - I had no idea the Beatles' version wasn't the original, either!
I had a successful (if long!) day yesterday. Just tackling the visible "stuff" lying around that I had't noticed (often things that had been out there "for now" and then never moved, or that I wasn't sure what to do with
) . L.Ann's before bed routine of patrolling the house and putting away stiff is an excellent one -even if DH he S things out after I've gone to bed, it would still be a lot less to deal with in the morning!
Today is going to be church in the morning, when we'll celebrate DF PM's birthday over coffee and cake. In the afternoon, Jude has weight loss clinic, and it would be a good opportunity to drop off the car food I've rounded up that ours won't eat (they have a collection point for Cats Protection). And Waitrose should be delivering in the evening!

Re: Twist and Shout on Thurday @ TDD - C&C
Well, I didn't know that either, trissie! I learned something new as well.
Has it stopped raining where you are L Ann? Skies are looking clear-ish here this morning. I didn't know that was in your evening routine. That's an awesome idea! I think I'm too lazy to do it though.
Have a wonderful morning at church and celebrating PM's birthday, Kitty!
Today, I'm meeting with my trainer at 8. Dh and I are going to a UM performance at 7:30 pm which should be fun! Other than that, my calendar is clear -- but as usual, there are lots of things I should do. Priorities are: getting groceries, checking on the bed, payroll - getting the midterm test ready for tomorrow, payroll - starting exam prep. Dinner will be an Indian stew in the crock pot. Perhaps a little deeper cleaning in prep for hosting CG1 on Saturday would be good too.
Next:
- brush teeth and grab shoes
- otd @ 7:40
- 8-9 work out with AS
Later:
- s2s and self care
- make bed
- some qt
- reclaim kitchen
- lists for the day
- Kroger run (should be pretty short)
- put away groceries
- start crock pot
- go for a walk or short jog (even though I did the work out this morning)?
- contact M @ AP re: hospital bed
- work on forms for Mom
- payroll: make midterm test
- payroll: prep for AAS D8
- payroll: exam prep - start LH's exam
- let Lenten group know that we won't make it tonight
- lunch at some point
- remake guest beds
- clean stove top
- other things?
- early dinner (we've been eating quite late): Indian chicken stew, rice, roasted cauliflower
- after dinner clean up
- spiff self
- 7-ish otd to performance
- 7:30 - 10-ish UM performance
TaDas!
- up; weighed self - trending up again
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website

Re: Twist and Shout on Thurday @ TDD - C&C
Morning all. You know I am at fault for the same thing. Saying I'm too lazy to do something. I would do better as well if I checked and put away what got left out. I don't think it's lazy. I think it's more overwhelmed and needing down time so we just are done when the main responsibilities are done. Nope not doing anymore. Just a slight change would help that I am still not willing to do myself. Helian your schedule is very busy and stressful too. One day I will get there. Or maybe not.
I had a decent day yesterday. Actually went quite well. I felt like I actually accomplished something here my house is tidyer and floors clean. I found a tiny spot I needed to touch up in the bedroom just need to check that and then it's at least ready for prime.
Mom's appointment went pretty well. I think we narrowed down her pain to mostly gas pain but going to do ultra to make sure. And her lack of control comes down to loss of feeling and control due to brain damage and dementia... that is mostly what we wanted from him. Fun part now is helping dad with diet. He's supposed to have less salt and sugar. She needs whole foods to help firm up the system. He was wanting me to pick up pizza for them but instead I opted to go help him cook . Processed pizza was not going to help either of them.
Anyway I always do this. Last night i was thinking I should get moving and go opening shift together with dh. Now I need to feel like moving that fast. I could work 730 to 4. Or 8 to 430. We'll see but first off getting in the shower will help.
Take the sand block to the corner and hope it's good now quick wipe dust
Shower
Straighten bedroom some and put away laundry
Straighten main living space some
Finish getting ready for work and decide if I will get good or want to be slower

Re: Twist and Shout on Thurday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, all!
Here's another little tidbit about "Twist & Shout."
The first version of this song was recorded by The Top Notes and it was produced by Phil Spector. The songwriter Bert Berns absolutely hated Spector's production because it "killed the feel" of his song and is the reason it flopped as a single. So Bert decided to produce this version with The Isley Brothers and it became a huge hit.
I listened to the Top Notes version on YouTube and it didn't sound anything like the next versions by the Isely Brothers & The Beatles.

Re: Twist and Shout on Thurday @ TDD - C&C
trissie ~ thanks for this start & song trivia!
kitty ~ always nice to look back at a successful day. Hope this day is, as well. Have fun at the party!
L.Ann ~ nice that DD32 has "her place" for her things.
helia ~ flex those muscles!
laurlind ~ omg.. I have a hard enough time just regulating my own diet, much less someone else's. Prayers for an easy system to adapt to.
I woke up feeling great, a pretty clear head, the best it's been since I caught that nasty bug in February. Wasn't too long after I got up that I realized it was Ds/M's birthday today. "You Are So Beautiful" sung by Joe Cocker came to mind. His rendition for (what looks like) a dedication to Princess Diana is so touching. I got a bit stuck doing a lot of reminiscing this morning. I do miss him so terribly. But.. it wouldn't be good to sit here for very long. Need to get up and get myself busy and get out of the house. Today is a beautiful day. Going to soak it in. Thankful for all of you.

Gma, I had gently suggested to dbro that he visit dmom if he wanted as I was moving her soon. That might have helped motivate him as well.
Lauralind, I really don't think I have as much going on in my life as you do. Have a good day at work.
((Smile)) I hope you can get out of the house to do something fun/ helpful for yourself. Yay for a clear head!
Well, I'm already on to Plan B for the day. The trainer texted me that he had a flat tire, so our session was cancelled. I'm going to get out for a jog here in a bit. The sun is shining and it's in the 50s, so quite a promising day! I spent a long time (for me) on duo so that's done. I've had my qt and gotten out the ingredients for the Indian chicken stew. I just need to buy 2 things, but I'm going to put them in last.
Next:
