I get a weekly email with the local good news - this was the lead quote this morning. I'm reminded how our own attitudes are so important in our happiness. I get a negative attitude at times but today, with the sun shining and spring firmly in place, I'm going to keep that happy attitude going!"The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts."

Re: Happy Monday PWYC
Good morning!
Twins - thank you for the start today. I find the topic interesting because this has been an ongoing discussion with DD13 and one that we will be talking about with her counselor. I am interested in hearing the counselor's thoughts about it tonight. DD13 thinks that happiness only occurs when good things happen. I think that happiness is a choice (dance in the rain theory)
It is back to school day routine for us. DD13 has been delivered to public school while having a discussion about her school bedtime. She says 10pm is too early to go to bed even on school nights. I had her research how much sleep is recommended for a 13-year-old and it says 8-10 hours. She wakes up at 7am so to meet the sleep hours then her bedtime needs to be between 9pm to 11pm. The elephant in the room of this discussion is DD13 doesn't have a bedtime. She is complaining about bedtime, but the real issue is that the internet and her phone are automatically shut off at 10pm on school nights. We will check in with her counselor about this issue. The counselor usually sides with DD13 on most everything but I think she will agree that DD13 doesn't need to stay up later on school nights. We will see....
Homeschool is in progress.

Good morning!
d twins it's a good quote! thank you for starting us out so much positivity!
d lady - I am so happy your dd has a wonderful counselor - both of your guidance will help her learn how to dance with the rain.
I see my oldest daughter thinking in the same way d lady. it's almost like that all or nothing thinking - that if the good happens that it makes everything happy and well running. To me that's fleeting bc good things are happening all the time but seeing the little ones can build happiness. I had to learn that. dd older also gets so disheartened when dh goes down hill; just as she is starting again feeling positive. She wants to control it and feels like she is not getting ahead and has to start all over again.
She hasn't figured that the smallest things - observing life -doing good- doing things good for oneself as well - search out joy- brings so much happiness. For me, it is a combination of gratefulness and seeing joy in all the little things during the day that make me happy. For me it was a habit I built.
right now, I am having to work hard to get back to my habit of being happy again.
dancing in the rain - it's a good thing.
I love that her computer and phone turn off at 10
happy homeschool time.
waving to everyone!!!
have a wonderful day!!!
I have a bit of a background headache - that usually means rain will be coming - April showers brings may flowers

Re: Happy Monday PWYC
Morning girls….
I believe that happiness is a choice. I look for good things that make me smile when I first get up. My first cup of coffee always makes me smile, and the fact that I can sleep in when I want after working for years of getting up at 4:30am is another.
Even when things aren’t going my way I try to look for those that are. Some times it’s harder than others, but that’s just the way I am.
Remember I’m called cinderella by my friends cause I’m usually in bed before 10. Even in high school. Course a good book can keep me up
Went to class, did my routines and picked up my footprints. Sweetie and I have some errands to run and I have several phone calls to make.
Enjoy your day.. see y’all later

Abe Lincoln quote says [according to Google]
"folks are usually about as happy as the make up their mind's to be. "
Is my philosophy.
Today I have slept in till 7:00 yea! I needed that.
Worked more on kit. prepping for the new stove.
Moved a small set of drawers no longer attached to the wall.
Cleaned under that.
Looked behind the stove it's not so heavy as it looks.
No plug in the wall its just got a big cord & pig tail.
More dust kangaroos to remove.
I moved the trash can and cleared the walked away by the rig out in the carport.
I'll move the rig in a bit after s2s.
So feeling productive.
Just doing that got my steps count up to nearly 1K already yea!
Dining room is a disaster at the moment how ever.
That will change after I pay attn to that area.
My gratitude journaling this weekend helped me as I wrote out things I was thankful
for when feeling bad from cold like hot coffee that helped me throat, cough drops I had here
and broth to sip on later, I'd just gotten a big package of 4 boxes of tissues and had no worry of running out.
I had tea and despite no stove / oven I had a coffee make for hot water quickly!
So my mood improved after that writing entry!

Re: Happy Monday PWYC
Monday always feels happy because the house is quiet and dh has gone to work. What's it going to feel like when he's home "all the time?" This morning he was out to workout at six, back home for shower and finally off to work.
Today I have my workout at two and I'd like to get to the plant nursery for ferns, a tomato plant, basil and mint. The high is going to be eighty-six today, way hot for April in my opinion but no one asked me. The sprinkler system still needs repair but dh and landscaping co are in charge of that and I'm out of the picture.
I have a list going for the week and we have friends - a couple - coming in Friday afternoon to spend the weekend with us. This is the couple whose dd was married in Vermont a couple or three years ago. Late in the week I'll run the Roomba, clean the upstairs bathroom, and clean/dust/de-pollen the screened porch as much as possible considering it's pollen season (cough, cough.)
I've done some of a.m. routine. My plan today was to head upstairs and do the pick up put away from the weekend after I workout but I don't think I can stand it. I'm about to eat brunch and the rest of the morning will be the pick up put away that needs to happen. And I need to finish our tax return and dd called yesterday wanting help with hers. I told her if she would send me her id and password I'd log in and take a look.
Oh, I don't want to but I need to help.
LadyM we lost the battle over bedtime when dd "needed to stay up late to finish homework." She could dawdle through homework from the time she got home until bedtime and never finish according to her reports. I'm glad you have the therapist to help make these hard decisions. Does dd13 get up easily in the morning? My dd is not a morning person so she was a struggle. She was left at home once when she wasn't ready in time.
So my day is going to be full between dd's tax return, pupa here at home, workout, perhaps going to garden center, and cooking dinner. We'll have grilled chicken, acorn squash and asparagus.

Very good topic for today. I need to work on finding the good things and focusing on that over the hard. Being grateful and positive. Makes a big difference in mindset. Now to put that into action.
I think the sleep issue is on the right track as well. Teens are known for not getting enough sleep. That's a problem with ds15 as well. He goes to bed in good time most nights but stages of just not getting a good sleep and he wakes up and just can't function.
I still really like that Rose. Footprints. I'm going pick up some of mine too.
Why do I do better at that elsewhere. When I was cooking in dad's kitchen I made sure I cleaned up as I went because I couldn't come back and do it later nor could he. I can't get that in my head in my own kitchen.
Positive things for today
I have a job
My freight receiving is making me stronger
Mom and dad had a good day yesterday
One step closer on through the big projects yay
Many more
