Tagliatelle (Italian: [taʎʎaˈtɛlle] ; from the Italian word tagliare, meaning 'to cut') are a traditional type of pasta from the Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna and Marche. Individual pieces of tagliatelle are long, flat ribbons that are similar in shape to fettuccine and are traditionally about 6 mm (1⁄4 in) wide. Tagliatelle can be served with a variety of sauces, though the classic is a meat sauce or Bolognese sauce.

Tagliatelle are traditionally made with egg pasta. The traditional ratio is one egg to one hundred grams of flour.

The term tagliatelle can be traced back to the Renaissance, with one of its first written records appearing in a treaty by Cristoforo di Messisbugo, steward of the House of Este in Ferrara, published in 1549. Tagliatelle are also mentioned in 1593 among the main pasta shapes by the humanist Tommaso Garzoni.

A glass case in the Bologna chamber of commerce holds a solid gold replica of a piece of tagliatella, demonstrating the correct width of 8 mm (5⁄16 in) when cooked, equivalent to 6.5–7 mm (1⁄4–9⁄32 in) uncooked, depending on the hardness of the dough.

Tagliatelle have a porous and rough texture, making them ideal for thick sauces, generally made with beef, veal, or pork (such as Bolognese sauce), and occasionally with rabbit, as well as several other less rich (and more vegetarian) options, such as briciole e noci (with breadcrumbs and nuts), uovo e formaggio (with eggs and cheese), or simply pomodoro e basilico (with tomatoes and basil).

(((Gma))) I'm sorry you're worried about DDog - when our dearly loved pets are ill it's very hard, and you're so dedicated to caring for her.

Yesterday I cleaned my kitchen, and then went out in the garden. The forget-me-nots along the path were suddenly looking very "tired" so I pulled them out, re did part of the edge of the edging (if that makes sense? ) and ripped up the gravel. Now it at least looks neater, if rather bare, and I can use the path properly again.

I didn't.come indoors until.after 9.30 pm (I love these long light evenings) , and it wasn't my until I was in bed that I remembered that I hadn't replied to that email that really "had" to be done. That took another 30 minutes, but at least it should be in their inbox this morning. And Matilda woke.me.at 0 dark thirty this morning,.so it's been a bit of a short night. I'll try for a nap when I get back from the vet with Freddie this afternoon, and I'll set an alarm to wake me in good time for Waitrose, just in case I sleep more soundly than I intend.

So, today should be church, followed by coffee and chat, but I need to be back home early enough to give me enough time to catch and cage Freddie for his appointment. This latter task could be challenging! Then I should have a few hours free until Waitrose arrive. Ideally I'd like to power wash the car, but if I really don't have the energy, then a nap would be more beneficial - I might be able to do the care after Waitrose have been? I'm planning a potato baked in its jacket with grated cheese and salad for my supper tonight, so that should be easy and good tempered. I would also like to make sure the house is tidy for DH's return.

DH arrives home *some time* this evening, depending which train he catches!

I can’t believe it’s Thursday already, this week is flying by. Today is paper tiger day. A Facebook friend was giving away toothache plant cuttings so I got some, need to read up and take care of them today. I think I will plant them in a pot on the porch for now so I can keep an eye on them and won’t forget about them.

That is a long evening of light, Kitty! The sun is setting here now around 9 pm. It's still light-ish until close to 9:30. You're farther north than we are, but I do love the evening light! I hope church is rejuvenating.

I'm here late, even though I woke up early. I dozed in bed while working on a jigsaw sudoku that has stumped me at the moment. I'm meeting with my trainer at noon instead of 8 a.m. which is why I'm here at 7:55.

Today: Other than meeting with the trainer at 12, I have nothing on my calendar - but plenty to do. I need to make significant progress on exam prep. I'll visit my Mom. Then, I'll work on the brain dump list that I have neglected. Prep for class tomorrow would also be good as I'm meeting a friend for coffee tomorrow at 9 a.m. so morning prep time will be curtailed. Dh flies to the NL late tonight. We'll have dinner together before he goes: peanut chicken, rice, roasted broccoli. Adding. . . I'll also look into buying a baby card to accompany the book dh bought new grandniece he'll meet in NL this weekend.

Our forecast high is 83*F today and 85*F tomorrow. This is summer weather for us. It is currently gray outside.

Morning all. Kittykat I hope you can manage to catch Freddie without too much excitement. If it weren't for the claws it would be a much calmer event. I so never expected that with my sweet calm stella. The shredded fingers are finally healed. And she seems well as I can see. Her litter box is still showing signs of not making as much as she should I feel but she is not messy or as uncomfortable. I've added a little canned royal canin to her diet.

Helian that was wonderful progress with your mom yesterday. You must be so relieved the change was so positive. You get to see her as often as you like and she's not sleeping every time. How long is dh away?

I'll have to Google that plant too Bama. I'm being semi successful at plants lately. Maybe I need one. I just decluttered some of my forest of coleus.

Oh right it's almost the longest days again. Atm up here it's just getting dark before 10.

I'm going to have to try out that sunshine cake. I found a vintage recipe on pinterest and saved it. But if you want to share it gma I would love it.

Anyway I better move. Stella says no again she always comes up when I should get up. Get in the shower. Laundry and tidy up some almost finished.

Good morning, all. I am up betimes to bring Germane to the groomer. I am happy to say that my db has come through his big operation yesterday, and this morning was awake and alert enough to text me. His bff texted me yesterday to let me know that the operation was over and that it had gone well, which I really appreciated.

And now I have focus on getting ready.

I’ve never heard of Scooby doo pasta, I thought it might be a shape from the cartoon, so looked it up. I guess I’ve learned two new things about pasta today.

Laura, I hope the canned food helps with Stella’s hydration. Cats are curious aren’t they, predator and prey all in one. I understand the reasoning behind the claws as defense but the little “paper cut” type injuries on my arms and hands are no fun when I wash with soap and am reminded of when some cat got me. The marks are so tiny I can’t see them when they nick me but I sure do feel them.

Helia, sounds like a relaxing start to your day. Good luck on the brain dump and may you whittle it down to nothing with ease.
