Hello, all. I am feeling much less wilty than yesterday. What a difference an air conditioner makes! I got mine set up last night. I will try to put this mojo to good use. It looks like the heat is starting to break. The humidex will be down to 30 tomorrow. I think it was up to 46 at once point.

Oh, helian, that sounds like a horrible problem. Spiders can bite even when there are no webs. That has happened to me at my cabin. They like places with high blood flow and warmth. Think groin, axilla, behind the knee, etc. I hope you don't have fleas from a mouse - that could be very difficult to get rid of. Wash all bedding in very hot water? Put it all into the freezer for few days? Put some BORAX into cleaning solution to wash floor?
I think you are just about done with hosting! It could be such a wonderful experience for both parties, but this sours it.

I've had a very full day! (as always?!)
delivered a couple items to church and got a gas card (our church buys gift cards at a discount from one of our local gas stations, then is required to sell them at full price, which is a bonus for our church budget and provides customers for the gas station)
Was supposed to get tires checked, but the staff at teh tire shop were called away, as they are members of the volunteer fire department. Can't fault them for not being there!
Went to mother's house to see what I could accomplish: First time in 2 weeks I have ahd time to spend dedicated time there.
tenant had seen evidence of a mouse (droppings),
so I set traps, both on her level and in the attic
emptied dehumidifier
vacuumed LR half heartedly
vacuumed family room thoroughly, and cleared off couch and loveseat, put away several thing on the floor, it's in pretty good shape now, as the room most people enter. I didn't dust.
Cleaned the refrigerator - dsis2 left 2 weeks ago, and no one has been there to eat the food she left
emptied the (moldy) coffee grounds (that she left) from the coffee maker
Turned on the DW - dsis2 had loaded it but hadn't run it
took garbage out - I think there may be one wastebasket I missed. It's garbage day tomorrow so I'll go back.
DGS came to help me get back yard pots ready to plant - not a huge job, but would have required my sore foot on a shovel.
Tied up tall, huge delphiniums to a picket fence so those flowers wouldn't be laying on the ground when I go back to pull weeks, and so we can see the flowers.
Spread out the cedar ships on the west side of her house.
Tomorrow I will go to local nursery and see what plants they have left that I can put into the pots.
Now it's time to get senior citizen groceries.
Iit's nice to post - it helps me see that I have actually accomplished some thigns today! :D
then drive to visit mother.
She always feels bad when I tell her how hard I have worked, what I have accomplished, because she wants to come and help.

Hi, L.ann, Doggedly - looks liek we al posted at the same time! A/C is very helpful :D

Gma, what kinds of spiders do you have that bite people on purpose? The only spiders that bite where I live are wolf spiders if you sit on them, and that's just self defense. It's just as well to be prepared, as with global warming I expect that they will all be coming north.
You did get lots done. You must have been frustrated having to clean up after you dsis2. It's not like she's not old enough to realize that coffee makers and dishes fester if you leave dirty food in them. I may be floundering in my attempts to keep up, but at least I'm not leaving it for someone else to clean up after me.

Hi, Peaches.

Tuesday
Cleaned up after ddog X 3
Put on coffee
Called animal hospital to see if my attempt to make an appointment online last night was successful
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed some dishes
Put more in to soak
Spiffed self
Reorganized balcony
Discarded dead plants
Brought in the one survivor: the Christmas planter that I call Pinky And The Brain because it kept trying to take over my apartment. Not surprised that it is the only survivor.
Filled its water bottle to start soaking Pinky’s soil

It's cooled off enough that a walk is more likely to please Germane than kill her, so that's next.

I hope Germane enjoyed her walk, and I hope you did too. I have no idea what kinds of spiders they are. Little ones. I never see them, I just figure they are spiders when I wake up and have been bitten. We also have little black things often called no-see-ums that bite. They used to get into my sheets when I hung them on the line. That's why I gave up the nice outside smell and started using the dryer. Maybe that's why women ironed sheets before there were dryers. That would kill those nasty little bugs.

I brought a nice little bouquet of garden flowers to mother. We had a nice before bed visit. I have several outfits of hers to wash tomorrow. One has chocolate ice cream that I need to treat. But I'm going to bed - and will deal with it in the morning.
Good night
