The power of doing little things Sunday June 29, 2025 PWYC

Post by blessedw2 »

I saw this as and intro on another channel and I thought it was perfect!

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Little routines keep us moving forward
little exercises keep us flexible
taking time to read a little, learn something new keeps our brain engaged.
starting with a first stitch can lead to an outfit being made or a quilt being finished.
one stroke of paint lead to beautiful artwork.

We don't need to do a big project - big projects are just a series of little steps.

How about today - how can you keep things simple and joyful without pressing yourself to "do it all"

Making small steps forward leads to big adventures -
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Morning…

My house is in order, my dinner is planned and Coco and I went for a long walk this morning. Her owners are stuck in New York because their plane was delayed due to thunderstorms. They can’t get another plane until tomorrow so I have her for two more days.

Wow. Blessed. I needed that today. Little things. Small steps. A start. That's what I have done I guess I just get in the spin cycle of needing to feel like I got it all done at once. I know I have made progress. How did I expect to finish the flower bed all at once. I should just general straighten the living room again and deal with the flowerbed first. And weed the greenhouse the rest of the way. Then I can start the decluttering again.

Yes I feel better in the morning. And I also recognize... I stopped taking my supplements. Got irregular in remembering. Now I have a colonoscopy in just over a week and I'm supposed to stop them. I will start over after. But maybe affects my mood that much ?

A first in a while. Today is our 29 anniversary and I think first one in a long while dh remembered first. 😅

I walked TOO much yesterday and by the time I got all the groceries into the house, my hips were screaming at my brain to rest. So I rested. Then I made supper, which included BBQing some ribs. OWIE!

This morning my hips were fine, but today it was my knees screaming. I put some stuff on them and they are better now. For the hips and the knees the pain is equal on both sides thankfully.

I think I have all the groceries for July. I know I have no desire to go out shopping again later today. I went and got dh some soda first thing this morning. I will go back tomorrow morning to get more. The sale price is really good and they have a limit to the number of 6 packs you can get.

When I got home yesterday dh had cut the grass. When I got home today he was out there weed whacking the front yard.

I really need to cut up the small watermelon I have in the fridge so we can enjoy it today and tomorrow.

Congrats on 29 years, Lauralind, and on dh remembering! My dh always remembers - he's far more observant about those things than I am. We'll be at 39 at the end of August. Hard to believe. Yes, focus on some of the little things, they add up and then there's momentum to keep going and a sense of accomplishment. Celebrate the ta das - the things that are done.

Our kids turn 33 this week.

I'm not sure what his perception of today might be. He's gone for a massage this morning. Not sure if he wants to go to the river later or just hang out. I'd love to hang out here - hoping in fact. We had a good time last night - company left around ten, all food consumed. I put out meat and cheese, crackers, hummus and fresh veggies. Also strawberries and fat blackberries. One couple brought deviled eggs and the other little pick up desserts. Two of the teens from next door came over for a while too.

There's a neighborhood pool party this afternoon. I don't think I'll go, doubt if dh will want to go.

So the day is wide open for the moment.

Cathy, the achy hips seem to be going around. I think I'm nearly recovered from so much standing on Thursday night. Even with comfy shoes my back and hips were screaming. I need to start stretching them.

bw2, thank you for starting us and reminding us of the small, incremental things. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with going to the beach in a week, and then the party end of this month. You are almost always cheerful and positive, even in the face of challenges.

Blessed - Thank you for the start today and sharing the wise words.

Lauralind - Congratulations on 29 years!

>>.thinking of Coco prancing around and being so well taken care of makes me smile <<<

My day is being influenced by DH needs. He hasn't recovered his memory quite as much as he did after previous episodes. Small things but they give big feedback. DH isn't returning things to their normal place. I found the mayo jar in the door of the refrigerator instead of in the sandwich tub where it has been kept for the past decade or so. This morning, I went to get DH meds out for today and the containers were empty. I asked DH about it, and he admitted that he took them last night because he thought today was yesterday. Many more similar occurrences keep happening because he doesn't fully remember but still wants to keep doing the normal things.
I am on high alert all the time. I heard the front door close when I was taking a shower this morning so I hurried through washing hair/shower so I could go make sure DH was okay. It sorta reminds me of they years when a toddler was in the house and I made sure they are safe and occupied before making a 3 minute trip to the bathroom. We stayed home from church today because DH brain is already over stimulated with just normal daily homelife happenings.
