Super Saturday -- Sanity Saturday?

Post by lucylee »

It is past 1:00 a.m. here in the CST, so I thought I'd just surprise you all and jump in for Saturday! I'm sorry I've missed so much this week, but it has been CRAZY around here.
We have played school till I think dgs and I were both ready to retire. DGD and I have played hide and seek... and I have watched her do a million cartwheels, I think. And these two eat constantly. We have lunch. Two hours later, DGD is STARVING to death. It's amazing. They must be going through growth spurts.
DGD and I have spent about 5 hours (total for 2 days) at the church, helping get the bulletin out for Sunday. Yesterday, DGD was bored crazy, but today she was a BIG help in folding and putting them on the tables. She was very proud of herself.
I had to pick up DGS at football on Tues. & Wed., but Thursday, he was sick and stayed home, and slept till around 2:00 pm. Today, he slept late, but seemed to feel okay.
Yesterday, (Thursday) when we left the church, we went to dbil's office to serve as a witness for some papers being signed by some clients.
Wednesday, my Dfriend and I had lunch while DGD was at church activity.
M/Tu/Th nights have been volleyball games, and Th, after volleyball, ddil took DGD to tumbling class. (Then brought her back to me.)
Both dgrands went home with ddil tonight and it is almost too quiet here again. They'll be back after church Sunday, and dgd will spend the night Sunday. DGS will go to the dermatologist, and will be back with me later in the day.
Tuesday, I will take him to football at 8:00 a.m., DGD will have a volleyball game, and we HOPE DS will be home before ddil has to leave for work Wednesday.

It is hard for dgd when DS is gone this long. She almost had a little crying spell last night at bedtime because she missed her daddy so much. I have never seen a child who was so much of a daddy's girl! She has been especially fretful when he's on the road since dh passed away, but ds has called and talked to her a couple times every day, face-timing from the redwood forest yesterday, and promising to bring seashells and rocks from the beach. (They drove several hours out of their way yesterday to see the Pacific, since they were too early to check in to the hotel, and none of them had seen the Pacific Ocean before.) I have to admit, I'll feel a little better when he's back home again, too, but I tried to assure DGD that God's hands were big enough to hold us and her daddy at the same time, and he would be back soon.

So -- for Saturday, what are y'all doing to make it a super day?

Twins -- I am so glad dh is doing better. The stingray injury was scary -- isn't that what killed Steve Irwin? Of course, if I am remembering correctly, his injury was directly to the heart. Still, the swelling and the extremely hot water must have been very painful, in addition to the actual sting!
This getting out of bed so late really puts one behind all day,
Welcome to my world, LOL! :lol:

LadyM, that is a tough situation for ds16 and his GF. It's good that the GF has your home as a sort of refuge, but I can understand your concerns that she would latch on to ds16 to get away from the chaos at home. It's just a really sad situation.
Good to hear dd's test came out okay, and that she enjoyed the shopping trip.
Are flash floods a thing to fear in your area like what happened in Texas? We have flash flood warnings here occasionally, but the worst it has ever gotten as far as I know is sometimes a person will drive into a flooded road and might get himself/herself into a scary situation. Water might get into houses in the northern part of our county, low-lying areas closer to the river, but other than careless drivers, I don't know of anyone who has ever been in a life-threatening situation.
The Texas flooding is just beyond comprehension, so heartbreaking.

Regarding doctor's appointments, boy, what a day you had with the snafu at doctor's office, Harriet! Sometimes it's good to have someone like HRH who can at least let people know how dissatisfied they are with the incompetence of the office staff! Maybe at least they will be more careful in the future!

Waving to you ALL!!! Forgive me for leaving out personal notes to each one of you -- it's hard to catch up on three days at once.

My plan for a Super Saturday is mainly to "visit my colorist." Otherwise, I may lie in bed all day and read magazines. :roll: Maybe I'll do something else productive -- I need to go to Wmart. So that's the plan -- color my hair, go to Wmart, call my dmom. (I've neglected her this week also.)
Tomorrow is another day.

Good morning, LucyLee! (It's still just morning here in BST :lol: ) . You've had a busy few days!

We have another hot day forecast - maybe up to 35 C / 95F - so I'm staying indoors during the heat of the day. There is plenty to keep my occupied, with continuing to put the kitchen to rights after the reorganisation for the new fridge, posting the "stuff" I want to sell in eBay with all that entails (I have given myself until the end of August to get it listed and boxed up ready for posting. If it's not done by then, it goes to the charity shop). If I have time and energy I may also do a little decluttering in the bedroom, prior to moving things a round next week. DH also wants to make major changes in the spare room /office, but he's out today and tomorrow, back in the office Monday and WFH Tuesday, before he goes on a 3 day work trip Wednesday, so if I don't mention anything about that, there's a good chance he won't think about it until he returns on Friday. :D

I also need to bake today, and give the back garden a good watering and fill up the water butts using the hose. The latter jobs are scheduled for this evening, when it's cooler.

So I need to get off my behind and start moving! :lol:

Good morning, lucylee! You and dgs both ready to retire, lol. I hope ds' trip continues to be safe and sound. it's nice the kids' activities have been varied with you, adult stuff like witness, bulletins.

Enjoy watering your pretty garden, Kittykatt! Hoping all ebay pursuits are positive.

I'm trying again to reset my bedtime routine and go to bed at ten or soon thereafter. So far, as The Count would say on Sesame Street, "One! One night of 10:00 o'clock".

Dd26 called to say her matron of honor (for whom she was maid of honor) is going to have a baby. Dd was tearful with happiness for her and had to tell me quickly on the phone that they were happy, not sad, tears. She and my dsonil are already planning a trip to visit them next year.

She stayed on the phone giving me pep talks and wisdom quite a while. She is going to the gym every morning before work now and thinks it is good for her attitude as well as healthy.

About yesterday's 3 appts, sigh. It just seemed that every little thing hurt a bit more, like the blood draw. And the extra test my gen prac had ordered could NOT simply be included in this blood draw as he had thought. They are affiliated but no. Sigh. Dr. later explained it would cost so much more if she ordered it, too, and advised me to go back to him. It's only Vit D, but I have been monitored for it all these years and he would really like to know because of all this med stuff having gone on.

Then, we had a little bit of a "high" in that dr thinks I may only have to have a few more weekly injections (platelets), because my numbers are steadily increasing (although way low still - hopefully my own body will keep the momentum going). This takes 2 hours each injection and, like the coming week, can be the only reason for an appt that is an hour to hour-and-a-half drive. So, HRH was delighted to hear this.

Then at injection, the needle was bent. I've never had that experience before. I realized something was dripping and nurse thankfully caught it quickly, withdrew. Then she had to stick me again with a new needle and had to do it close for several reasons. Ugh. One thing she said was concerning to her was the literal loss of any of the medicine, which had taken an hour for the lab to create and cost so much and was so important for me, for that matter. Honestly, I was concerned because the needle was bent. eeeeewwww

SANITY - today I can foresee sensible at-home chores happening in calm order. Hurray. I know the laundry work needed and what we'll eat for meals. Hurray. We don't have to go anywhere at all. Hurray.

~~~~Sanity sprinkles for everybody~~~~
Yay!! There's LucyLee!! Thank you for starting us off so early in the day!!
It is going to be really hot here again today. We haven't had any rain at all We have 2 large tanks to catch rainwater off the roof of the garage and right now they are empty. Dh has been using water from the cistern. I will need to call the water company on Monday to get a delivery so the cistern doesn't get too low. We might have to wait for our delivery because around here the farmer's are the first priority.
Yesterday afternoon at knitting quite a few of the women were saying their tomatoes are smaller than usual and other things weren't doing well. Glad to know it's not just our garden this summer. First there was too much rain and it was colder than normal and then the rain stopped and the heat hit and here we are.
I have no idea what dh wants to do today. He went back to bed.
Sanity Saturday sounds good to me, lol! I was busy busy busy yesterday feeling like I got things back together somewhat. Of course, I did make a mega list as I was working too. I'd like perhaps stamping or genealogy time upstairs. I know dh is trying to stay off his feet because he's worried about the swelling but he sat in his chair a lot playing on his phone yesterday and wasn't in a great mood from my perspective. He can't go to the pool because he's taking the antibiotic that makes him sensitive to sunburn so that will limit him for awhile. I hope he'll decide to sunscreen up and play golf or go to driving range at some point, tho. For his socialization might have to invite immediate next door neighbors over for the evening?
Today is going to be blistering hot here - 93 degrees and humid. Dog is walked already, while there is some nice shade on the other side of the circle.
Lucylee, so nice of you to start us out and we're always so glad to "see" you! And nice to see everyone here so early too!
