We have played school till I think dgs and I were both ready to retire. DGD and I have played hide and seek... and I have watched her do a million cartwheels, I think. And these two eat constantly. We have lunch. Two hours later, DGD is STARVING to death. It's amazing. They must be going through growth spurts.
DGD and I have spent about 5 hours (total for 2 days) at the church, helping get the bulletin out for Sunday. Yesterday, DGD was bored crazy, but today she was a BIG help in folding and putting them on the tables. She was very proud of herself.
I had to pick up DGS at football on Tues. & Wed., but Thursday, he was sick and stayed home, and slept till around 2:00 pm. Today, he slept late, but seemed to feel okay.
Yesterday, (Thursday) when we left the church, we went to dbil's office to serve as a witness for some papers being signed by some clients.
Wednesday, my Dfriend and I had lunch while DGD was at church activity.
M/Tu/Th nights have been volleyball games, and Th, after volleyball, ddil took DGD to tumbling class. (Then brought her back to me.)
Both dgrands went home with ddil tonight and it is almost too quiet here again. They'll be back after church Sunday, and dgd will spend the night Sunday. DGS will go to the dermatologist, and will be back with me later in the day.
Tuesday, I will take him to football at 8:00 a.m., DGD will have a volleyball game, and we HOPE DS will be home before ddil has to leave for work Wednesday.
It is hard for dgd when DS is gone this long. She almost had a little crying spell last night at bedtime because she missed her daddy so much. I have never seen a child who was so much of a daddy's girl! She has been especially fretful when he's on the road since dh passed away, but ds has called and talked to her a couple times every day, face-timing from the redwood forest yesterday, and promising to bring seashells and rocks from the beach. (They drove several hours out of their way yesterday to see the Pacific, since they were too early to check in to the hotel, and none of them had seen the Pacific Ocean before.) I have to admit, I'll feel a little better when he's back home again, too, but I tried to assure DGD that God's hands were big enough to hold us and her daddy at the same time, and he would be back soon.
So -- for Saturday, what are y'all doing to make it a super day?
Twins -- I am so glad dh is doing better. The stingray injury was scary -- isn't that what killed Steve Irwin? Of course, if I am remembering correctly, his injury was directly to the heart. Still, the swelling and the extremely hot water must have been very painful, in addition to the actual sting!
Welcome to my world, LOL!This getting out of bed so late really puts one behind all day,
LadyM, that is a tough situation for ds16 and his GF. It's good that the GF has your home as a sort of refuge, but I can understand your concerns that she would latch on to ds16 to get away from the chaos at home. It's just a really sad situation.
Good to hear dd's test came out okay, and that she enjoyed the shopping trip.
Are flash floods a thing to fear in your area like what happened in Texas? We have flash flood warnings here occasionally, but the worst it has ever gotten as far as I know is sometimes a person will drive into a flooded road and might get himself/herself into a scary situation. Water might get into houses in the northern part of our county, low-lying areas closer to the river, but other than careless drivers, I don't know of anyone who has ever been in a life-threatening situation.
The Texas flooding is just beyond comprehension, so heartbreaking.
Regarding doctor's appointments, boy, what a day you had with the snafu at doctor's office, Harriet! Sometimes it's good to have someone like HRH who can at least let people know how dissatisfied they are with the incompetence of the office staff! Maybe at least they will be more careful in the future!
Waving to you ALL!!! Forgive me for leaving out personal notes to each one of you -- it's hard to catch up on three days at once.
My plan for a Super Saturday is mainly to "visit my colorist." Otherwise, I may lie in bed all day and read magazines.
