Last episode, our plucky heroine was racing against time to get packed for a trip to the game convention.
I got packed in time. We ended up waiting on DD, who was the one who needed to be there earliest out of all of us.
We had a great time. I even managed to get down to the convention every day we were there. (Last year, there was a day my feet were so sore, I didn’t leave the hotel room.) I had to walk a little, rest a little, but I got to everything I wanted to. We came home with a bunch of new games — we’ve played all mine, but I don’t know that we’ve played any of DH’s. He just took one out of its shrink wrap last night.No sooner had we gotten home than DH left for Scout camp. (The troop had left that morning.) He had a horrible week for it — temperatures in the 90s, relieved only by pouring rain. The kids and I spent the week in the living room oasis (the sole air-conditioned room in our hundred-year-old house) in utter torpor. Bleah!
Since then, I’ve been struggling to get back on the horse. I haven’t been keeping up on my cards or with my to-do list app. I’ve resorted, the last couple of days, to setting a recurring alarm on my phone to ask myself what I’m doing. It’s helped a little, but I have to admit to wasting a whole lot of time. I actually did get some things done today — made a dent in the playroom, made a dent in DD’s room (poor thing, she had to stop when she came across a high school paper where she’d written about her grandfather — it set her sobbing), made an appointment with my financial guy, and started a load of wash.
Has anyone seen the Superman movie? We went the day before it was officially out. I very much enjoyed it — and I think I would have even if Cleveland didn’t have a starring role! (Most of the Metropolis scenes were shot in Cleveland, and it was much fun to notice all the local sights.)
Anyhow, I think I’ve talked your ears off (if we were actually talking). I’ll say good night and hope to see you tomorrow.
