Helia, great tradition to treasure.
I’m very thankful mom was able to stay in her own home, the hospice nurse only came twice a week, wasn’t great about meds and care, wanted to chat and leave, but mom would speak up for herself. The last week they gave me a bottle of morphine to administer as needed. (I was horrified although it did help prepare me for my in-laws care later the same year) An aide came the other 3 days and would barely clean her so she would have to tell them what to do. We didn’t have a great experience with any of that, staff, nh, … her doctor on the other hand was excellent and did all he could, would sit and answer all of her questions, give her any prescriptions that would be helpful, and comfort us both. It’s good that you have friends to call on.

FFB, I think some brassicas will do better being planted now, as the slugs and snails will be hibernating fairly soon! But they do need to be hardy varieties to get through the winter. I'm glad DS9 is getting an introduction- proxy to "big school".

It's been a good day. We only had a small congregation today(lady because of holidays, part because of the rain !) so the coffees weren't too onerous or time consuming.

Today's lunch menu was roast chicken, roast potatoes, roasted carrots and peppers, gravy, Savoy cabbage, followed by tiramisu. It rained for most of the afternoon, so I didn't get much done outside, but I did manage to put a few stitches in the neck of my dress and also sort out the car insurance. Freddie has had two walks and some time on my lap , and now he has the blanket by the radiator and Matilda has taken his place.

I got everything done but “soak beans”. The only dried beans I have are baby green limas and I don’t want those. Will figure out something else for supper tomorrow.
Beau won’t go out in the fenced area off the porch for some reason. Guess I’ll have to figure out why in the daylight tomorrow. Not looking forward to that.
ETA: dh and I went and looked, just found a ball which doesn’t explain the odd behavior. We need Sherlock Holmes on the case.
