Simple Saturday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

A simple day is one lived with intention, focusing on what truly matters to achieve happiness and contentment by reducing clutter, distractions, and stress, often through activities like spending time in nature, engaging in hobbies, connecting with loved ones, and appreciating small joys. It is a lifestyle choice focused on minimalism, mindfulness, and a less hectic existence, rather than just the absence of luxury or modern conveniences.

Good morning

I adore the thought of a simple day and a simple life. Being a homebody, I feel like I could keep myself entertained endlessly.

A 30-minute walk on the trail was completed while it was still cool. I thought we were done with summer temperatures, but it looks like 6 out of the next 10 days are predicted to be in the 90s. Although I’m tired of the hot weather, the summer garden is lasting longer than I anticipated, giving me extra time to plant and sprout seeds for the fall and winter garden.

Our refrigerator is well stocked with multiple ready-to-eat foods, so I won't need to cook today.

Hi, all!

I had a good morning of routine and neatening. Morning Daily Card done well.

I've made an order of some supplements, one for me and one for HRH. I can have supplements again now, but I do research anew, making sure I'm not missing anything in recent research that would stop me adding any back in. Turmeric on the days I don't have it in foods, for instance.

LadyM, something read on the way to reading other things. Have you tried out rye breads and oats as substitutes for the modern wheats, which you've found bother you? HRH just generally enjoys rye breads, so we have that around sometimes. Anyway, doesn't have the gluten problems that wheat breads have, and some people find it allows them sandwiches that don't bother them a bit. HRH says notice in ingredients, though, how much wheat a rye bread might have, in case you didn't want any at all. Most you find on the shelf do include it in the recipe. A historically accurate (smile) true rye can have a less-than-soft texture.

"lifestyle choice" is interesting in relation to a simple day's definition. Reminds me of LadyM's dd's interest in whether happiness is a choice.

I am thinking and inside day is in order the smoke is not good here.
Air Quality alert was in effect when I first got up.
I have been trying to think what to put in a sewing zone card file.
Ran out of steam on the build a desk.
Not sure it will be sturdy enough for a sewing machine.
The other desk had drawers for storage I like so... it needs to go back in there.
Not as much energy for today.

Not surprised after how good I felt yesterday. . . plus the smoke effects me.
It's cold in the house here 48* over nite. 80* high temp. F.
Tonight is sky activity planets or some thing hope some one can see it.

Bw2:
I've not heard from DD but I'd sent over loads of things ahead of time
for Dgd and dd to do at home; journals, coloring books,
activity books; art journal, markers. Pens etc. Stuffy, prayer shawl.
I forget what all went several bags. I'm sure they are processing
and settling in to this next recovering phase now. Doing laundry rest,
restock food... open packages of all the things needed in this next part of
the healing journey. Plus a learning curve with post opp. info. that was given I am guessing.
You prob. know more about this part than I do.
I did put a short note in J & C on this topic.

I'm just getting back here today. Dh has gone to go on a boat ride with A and V, hope they are watching the weather because chance of T storms in the area now. I begged off. Busy week that we've had, and we saw and A and V last night. And tonight we're going down the street for dfriend M's book launch/birthday and tomorrow going to a Rotary party. Oy. And then this a.m., when I went out to walk ddog I ran into dneighbors next door with their new baby and dog and walked with them a lap - then another neighbor/friend was at the playground, so we all stopped to talk to them. Then another neighbor who was out walking stopped to introduce herself and then dh came by as he was coming home from torah study. So we all were visiting up there. The last dneighbor who stopped then came by here to pick up her casserole dishes from Tuesday and stayed and talked quite awhile. So I'm pretty visited out.

LadyM, thanks for the recommendations on the protein shakes. Dh does use the diabetic version of the one you posted from Sam's I think. Most of them are too sweet for my taste but I need to get back into the protein shake with the protein powder.

Forty-eight degrees overnight Nancy, WOW! That sounds wonderful. Hope you don't suffer from the air quality concerns.

Glad you can get back to your supplements, Harriet. You're heading back to normal thankfully!

Bw2, you have a lot going on with your dmom's infusions and care. Like you and LadyM, I don't get bored at home either.
