Frenchie, I guess it's because I come from a farming family (my grandfather grew up on a farm, and he had this huge garden/orchad and he and grandma grew a lot of their food eventhough they had day jobs in factory), it's just kinda normal to preserve anything from the garden for winter. And it does make me happy to see the rows of jars, eventhough I can be equally happy on years when all the produce have been eaten by the kids directly from the trees and bushes :-)
well, as long as you don't end up without any electricity at all, kittykatt - I've heard the storm is pretty brutal!

I have been to this park, trissie! When we went to my nephew's wedding in Manchester, England summer of 2024, dh's family had a week long reunion in Wales, and a group of us decided to go hike Mt. Snowdon! It was extremely rocky but very beautiful. Bad weather cut our hike short, though. Glad your grandma is doing better - and I do hope you get more sleep tonight.
Kitty, it's amazing how difficult young people can grow into lovely adults. I've seen it happen multiple times. We hiked Mt. Snowdon! However, it started raining, and the rocks got slippery, so we headed back down. We got about 3/4 of the way up, though. I think 3 of the group hiked to the top in the rain. Also, we started later than planned and we were worried about getting down before dark. We had some children with us. I didn't realize there was a little train! I don't remember seeing it - but maybe I did and I've just forgotten.
I feel envious every time I read about you getting bread at the French bakery, FFB. I love many things about the USA, but the availability of great bread at a decent price is not one of them. Your evening with friends sounded nice!
I'll be thinking of you and your family at the funeral for your mom today, L Ann.

I'm up very late. I lay in bed and completed a hard jigsaw sudoku - because I could. I'm getting better -- such a useless skill to develop. These are super hard; note on the front says "advanced solving techniques required". He he! I love them! I've figured out all my techniques on my own. Anyhow, it is now 10 a.m. and I'm just getting my day started.

I made progress on many fronts last week: the dresser has been moved out of the nursing home and is now GONE. Someone picked it up yesterday. My mom's quilt package has been found. I need to pick it up today or tomorrow. I've done most of the post-memorial service thank you communications. I got J12yo a little something on her actual birthday. 2 out of 4 exam drafts have been made and sent out. Clothes laundry was done -- NOW I need to catch up on towels and my mom's stuff. Other than payroll, I also did my work out with AS, met with KS2J, got a haircut in another town, and with dh, hosted Tuesday dinner -- although, it was very small.

This weekend, I'd like to close the loop on:
1. Exam drafts - finish the last 2
2. The quilt for my mom - pick up the package; send a thank you note and a picture to the quilt guild.
3. Make progress on laundry: household towels and then start my mom's stuff

I'm thinking of punting my weekend jog to tomorrow. I'd need to get up early with dh and get it done before church - because it's going to be warm again tomorrow. Not as hot as today, though.

Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- some qt

Later:
- payroll: finish IR Exam
- payroll: finish AIR Exam
- make the bed
- 1 load towels: w d f pa
- 1 load towels: w d f pa
- lunch
- go to NH to pick up package
- take a picture of the quilt; write email with picture to quilt guild friend
- walk - long if I don't jog
- WF - something for CG1
- 5:30 - ? CG1
- duolingo
- update health apps
- progress on knitting
- reading??

TaDas!
- up; weighed self
- coffee
- tidied the kitchen
- email deletions and weather website - it's already 75*F with a high of 88*F forecast β˜€οΈ
- load 1 bathroom towels: washing

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES
Sat 8 - 5K?/ 5:30 - 9ish CG1 @ 5:30 - 9-ish
Sun jog early/ 10 - church local/ 3:30 - 6ish host CG2/ 6 - ? host Sunday dinner

Thinking of you and your family today, L.Ann. I hope the funeral goes smoothly.

Trissie, I think we'll be ok- down here the wind isn't too bad, and as we're technically in the city (even though we're right on the northern edge) all our services are underground. That said, I guess there could still potentially be a problem if everyone is using everything at once!

Helia, I'm very impressed with your advanced problem solving techniques! :D So glad the quilt package has turned up safely, it must have been a worry.

The hoovering is done, more laundry is drying and I've charged everything that can be charged. (And I put the electric blanket on the bed on for Jude for an hour. Well, if I'm not paying for it ... why not, as it made her happy. :D ) I have a gas oven, otherwise I'd have baked as well!

I need to hang up the latest LOL and then do some more in the sitting room.

Morning all. I think I don't quite have the brain power to respond to everyone today. Tired for some reason even though we managed to stay in bed till 6. I was going to skip shower but it might actually wake me up. Maybe.

Both off today and hopefully a free day to do some outdoor cleanup and garden stuff. Painting shelves? Cleaning in my living room? I cut my cabbage last night so I could make coleslaw for supper. What else to do with 4 heads. One is really weird and I'm going to have to pull a bunch off the outside of it for fear of slugs.... there's still kale too. That gets blanched and frozen.

I'm hoping the home care got set up for today. That was the plan. And I'm hoping it will help. Ohh it will long as it makes a difference for dad. I have not heard from him since the meeting. I think it will do a world of good. Mom will be clean and feel better. There's quick connection with health care and dad can ask his frantic what do I do questions cause I don't have any answers. They do.. long as he's can truly trust them. If it stays consistent like it's supposed to he can whip to town or have a predictable time for outside or shop etc.

Priority list

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Vacuum
Organize craft room
Paint shelving
Dump flower pots
Blanch kale
Take finished plants etc out of garden
Put away pots etc
Investigate flower bed maybe I will just move stuff from big one earlier spring
Plant those tulips

Hmm that's a long list
Dh has projects of his own

Today's tada list

Shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some

Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen all the way
Something else detail
Breakfast for all

Hi Peaches!
You needed that nap and that counts as progress for your body, trissie!
What did you do with your 2 hours of free electricity, Kitty?
The home care set up sure sounds helpful for your parents and for you, Lauralind. Did you work outside?

NOW I'm paying for my slow morning. 2.5 hours until I need to leave. I still need to: finish payroll exams (that in and of itself will probably take 2-3 hours), go to the NH, write a birthday card for JT, stop by WF, walk. Ugh. Sometimes CG1 is not very convenient.

- walk - long if I don't jog
- WF - something for CG1
- 5:30 - ? CG1

TaDas!
