FFB, I'm way behind on French politics - still stuck on how does a country have a prime minister and a president? Wondering if that would be helpful to our country?

I am up and sort dressed. I'm taking dd27 to the airport. She's off to NYC to visit friends for 2 days. Monday is part of fall break for her. I'll post lists when I get back.

Good morning, Helia! I hope DD27 has a lovely time with her friends.

Yes, I'm afraid I'm very naughty, and I do discuss all kinds of topics with the JWs. I get a bit tired with the "last times" and "end of the world " stuff that they are very fond of discussing, and like to bring the conversation back into the here and now every now and again. Usually with little twist of something that I'm grateful for. And excellent care my cats receive when they're unwell definitely comes into that category. And, as the JWs have come uninvited to specifically talk to me, then it only seems right that I can turn the conversation around to what I feel like talking about that day. (Politely, of course! In the past I've kept them for over 40 minutes when they were doing a Saturday morning neighbourhood mission - at least it kept them from disturbing other people.)

The other thing I'm really eager to find out from the JWs, but really don't feel I can ask yet, is what changes will be made to the organisation now their overall leader has passed away. From what I've read, there's a bit of a power vacuum and various potential successors have ideas about how to change the whole ethos (eg celebrating one's birthday could become a personal choice rather than remaining forbidden). It seems a bit rude to ask something like that, especially as the information may well not have filtered down the ranks yet! So my plan is to stick with the cats for now! That way they still get their "points" for a repeat visit. (Yes, there really is a scoreboard/ record kept of first time visits and repeat visits, and you get points depending on how much you persevere with your visits. It's all very sad, especially as many of them are nice people, even if very misguided. )

Just realised the towels are sitting on the kitchen floor waiting to go in the machine!

Well, I just lost a post.

Kitty, that makes sense - they have come to you to talk to you uninvited, as you said. You should be able to talk about whatever you'd like, including cat urinary habits. Once, they invited me to their Bible Study. I countered by inviting them enthusiastically to a Bible study I was attending. They left pretty quickly.
L Ann, an airport run takes 1 hour, almost exactly, there and back -- with good traffic. It looks like you have an open day!

Today, I have nothing on my calendar! I hope to get in a jog, catch up on some payroll stuff, write a get well card to CM, start the memorial thank you cards, get caught up on social communications, do some laundry - a bit of everything.

I think we got blacklisted by JWs after I told them we were a Roman Catholic household, because we've only had one visit in the 18 years we've been living here

Frenchie, don't get me into politics! At least your prime minister is not a former secret police agent, which is the case of our not yet but soon to be appointed prime minister (leader of election winning party gets first try, then has to get confidence vote from parliament, which may or may not happen because the balance is delicate and they are already fighting with political scandals errupting a week after the voting rooms closed). Or... some other unsavory person who doesn't believe in compassion or human rights, a lot of countries seem to have those.
kittykatt, is DH a happy recipient of cat pictures, or would he prefer pictures of steam trains?
helia, we have a huge basket of grapes that nobody wants anymore, so I'm trying to juice them. A lot of work with limited result, but I am thinking of making a batch of grape jelly.

Kittykatt, I think that when a new cat comes to your house, they must look at the cats and the cat pictures and paintings, and say "I have found my place in the world."
That is so awesome, that you offer the JW's a chance to sit down and listen to the recitation of your dcat's urinary issues. If their feet hurt enough, they would have stayed for it.

helia, I don't know about the relative positions and duties of the French President and Prime Minister, but I know that having a head of state separate from the government sure works for Canada. Our actual head of state is our Governor General. The practical head of government is our Prime Minister. So, if dignitaries are arriving and the PM can't be in two places at once, we can send the GG to meet them and there is no snub as we sent our actual head of government.
Hoping for a quick and east trip to the airport for you.--oh, I see that you are back. Woo hoo on a day with nothing on the calendar.

trissie, that is scary about your potential Prime Minister. It feels like the whole world is tipping toward authoritarianism.

Both Germane and I woke up too stiff to do much. I actually ended up carrying her over to her food dish, and she's gone back to sleep on her fleece throw in the bathroom. After CUOP, I feel like I might get some cooperation on cleaning from my various body parts.

I sent dh to get breakfast so I don’t have to cook it and I’m sitting on the porch enjoying the weather. We don’t get many days of this so it may be all you hear about until it turns colder, and then I will talk about how cold I am lol. I do enjoy the cold too, at least our version of it. Last year we got a foot of snow and it was heaven. If we get any sort of precipitation it usually turns to ice so to get real snow this far south was a special gift. He’s driving in now so ttyl. Enjoy your day!

Morning all. I have not seen the just in several years. They used to come round. I'd take their pamphlet and toss it usually. One used to be our neighbor he's really old now.

I haven't put any cat pictures on the wall.. interesting how tech changes. I have to hunt for pictures of the first few cats. Somewhere is a good one of Punky. Velcro and buttons and zipper too. But Stella and Luna and lucky and cole and smokey? Those are all over my phone. Oh and Casper too. Phone is always ready to snap a pic.

I'm trying to motivate myself. Dh gave me permission to claim my day unless of emergency. Ds 26 took ds 15 and nephew 18 and 2 trucks to the bush for firewood. Ugh. Ds 15was half happy to go yesterday but this morning yikes.. took work. Dh is at work. I have a house to clean.. veggies to deal with. A few errands... and actual time to do it. Now move... before it's lunch time.

Political difficulties seem almost universal at this point. That sounds like a fun trip, Trissie. It is two hours each way to our preferred airport helian. DD39 flew out of the DC airport for her conference this week but long term parking isn’t as easy there although it is probably only an hour each way. Hope your body stiffness gets better, Dogged. Painful movement is never fun. Hi Bama. We have had a surprisingly long stretch of fall weather in the 60s and 70s. Hi Laura.
