“In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun and—snap!—the job’s a game!” - Mary Poppins
I love it that we as a group have so many ways of getting our job done - from the satisfaction of moving that card over or checking off the task, to "chore bingo," however we practice it, to the pomodoro method of setting a timer to keep going.
What other ways do we bring fun into our day and into our household and other tasks?

I was surprised to hear how the Louvre was attacked by art thieves - they used a lift (people thought they were working with the rest of the construction until someone found that the thieves broke the class casing on the Napoleon jewels - they believe it only took 10 minutes for the whole thing.

Morning… up and walking before sunrise, went to class and then stayed for our drumming class. Came home made breakfast for Sweetie and me.
All my morning routines are done and will be going to my other drumming class in a while.
I have Halloween and birthday cards to work when I get home plus I needed to do a quick grocery run.
Back when I lived closed to the Smokey Mts and hike there quite often, my former husband and I decided to hike a trail the day after Cmas to try out our new hiking gear. It had been snowing and quite cold.
As I ventured around the bend in the trail… ole and behold there was a huge black bear standing in the hollar not 15 feet from me… I screamed because he scared me because I though bears hibernate during winter. I scared him when I screamed and he jumped and then ran away.
I have since learned black bears, at least in the Smokies do NOT hibernate all winter long much what was mentioned in Twins post. Who knew???
we did back pack in early spring and late fall when sometimes there was snow on the grown because ther were less people on the trail. We were usually gone for 5-7 days at a time. I did dream about bears the first few night of our hike.

I do like the French village - good for you for learning another language!!!
I too struggle with the most of the spoken words in French - they speak so fast - that's what I tell myself - and even though my mother is French - she spoke mostly Alsatian but I wasn't taught what the words meant - she too thinks they speak too fast (trop rapide) to get all the words that they are saying. The cousins say the same thing about American people their age
when the young French cousins talk - they are super duper fast!!
yay on sleeping well last night as well d Nancy!
have a good day!
mom is up but moving slow - dd older will call her cardiologist bc of what happened on Saturday
laundry - towels in washing machine - dh is running to the oil change place which reminds me that the one car is due.
nurse comes today
dropped a green juice - I have a towel on it as it was a lot - I will have to wash this by hand or it will get sticky.
helper is here - lovely
I still need to be here bc sometimes mom decides to not stand up and will hold that fanny down to the seat - you can feel her pushing backwards.
I am trying to be near by bc she calls for me many times during the day and it makes her feel safe.
The first three hours of my day have gone smoothly, getting back into the school routine. Having systems and habits for everyday tasks makes a huge difference. No need to overthink—just focus on the next step.
The online meeting with the pediatrician is in an hour. Having convenient access to big city specialists is a huge blessing for rural areas. Since many diagnoses involving emotions and the brain are done through conversations, interviews, and tests, they can mostly be conducted face-to-face via a computer screen. This pediatrician, who specializes in autism, has an office in a big city but travels two hours once a month to meet her patients in person. The vo-tech school in our nearest city allows her to use one of their offices for in-person meetings with patients on that day.
Anyway, I'm feeling uneasy about hearing the official diagnosis today. Y'all know I'm not a big fan of putting labels on kids. I'm doing my best to keep my thoughts and opinions out of this process and rely on the team of experts guiding us through it.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

LOL about the bear, RR! Glad all was okay, he was probably sleepy drowsy, I wonder? And happy to see you back to your routines too..
bw2, yes, call about your dmom, especially since she's moving slowly today. So sorry about dropping green juice - was it on the floor and what else will be sticky, lol?
and happy for you that the helper is there, even tho your mom needs you nearby too.
LadyM, yes, I love being able to have meetings online. Whatever the outcome of the testing is, it will help provide dd with closure since she wanted to pursue this.
Cathy, I was worried that your dh might have touched the racoon and I know that's dangerous because sometimes there are tiny cuts you're hardly aware of. Glad he was careful and that you're pursing it with the health department.
I saw online somewhere a listing of some of the jewels that were taken...I need to find an article to read more about it.
Nancy, I love how you're stretching your mind and learning/doing new things! Good for you!

Hi, what a charming Monday start, element of fun and snap... .. Thank you, Rodgers, Hammerstein, P. L. Travers, Twins' Mom.
Friday was very tough with a long reaction to the medicine, which is a preventative for bacterial pneumonia that I get once a month, or a little more frequently. No use to object - fact is, this does happen to some people and so you just can't make much of a case that you should be exempted. It is about an hour and a half to get it. My reaction this time was very long and I was still sniffling and sneezing with the histamine reaction late at night, awakening with the same tissue clenched in my hand that I'd had when I drifted off to sleep hours earlier.
Saturday had, I suppose, nothing memorable in it... .. I don't have anything written in my planner for that day except my meals, which look okay. Recuperation day? I didn't post here to give myself a clue.
Yesterday was the worship service in which the younger Minister of Music was in charge, and I enjoyed his unusual message about Jonah.
Then, dd27 called and asked me out. Although we only went a few places, and did go inside for lunch at Panera, all that walking and shopping was all I could do, and I never went to computer for any length of time.
First, we went out to Panera and had a conversation so animated we thought some nearby diners wondered if we were having an argument, lol. Talked and laughed about everything. Then on to Barnes and Noble where we shopped but couldn't find anything to buy after all, although she carried a journal around for a while and we genuinely tried at the magazine racks. Fun, anyway. Then to Michaels.
So, report on Michaels/JoAnne dual branding shop:
Very small, no fabric yet at our nearer location at least. One wall of sewing. I couldn't find anything I would recommend to her (she was in the market for good sewing scissors and would have shopped machines, but they weren't displayed yet), so she didn't buy. But I did get thread, "lite" fabric bond, and felts. In general, I found things to be expensive and not a lot of variety. There was only Coats and Clark thread, for instance, and it was mislabeled in sizing, without pricing. I only needed one item of that and would have bought it anyway, so it was okay for me, but would have just confused anyone else.
There was a table of an instruction class but didn't happen to be textiles and I didn't understand what they were doing - glad to see they did have a dedicated teacher though. Dd did buy Mod Podge in the new (?) glossy one that will go through the dishwasher. (I admit I'm unfamiliar, but I think it's new.)
An errand run to pharmacy and home we went.
Hopeful to get back to my stride and have stamina for the rest of the week.
