helia congrats to the new mom, welcome to baby I, and what are you supposed to say to a new grandmother... Anyway, great news ! I'm like trissie I wouldn't want anyone to empty my garbage or fill my fridge, especially not MrNG's mother... but on those first days with a baby, I think any help is welcome - you always get to see the InLaws when the baby arrives anyway, so they might as well shop, cook a bit and freeze some meals !
trissie I hope the cookies are now in the oven and you were able to start dinner. Oh and I see what you mean about after work time not being the best time to get things done especially at the end of the week. From what I notice, short nights make for difficult evenings the day after. With your very short nights this might explain why you can do after-work stuff better at the beginning of the week than on a Friday ? Depending on how much energy I have left in my body -not in my brain- I can be productive for an hour or two... or be a mean-tempered tornado and then MrNG will take over and ask me to kindly go and have some quiet time on my own.
Doggedly weekends are not always restful, that is true. Either it's your spouse or kids or pets, you can't exactly do anything you want the way you want. I remember when DS7 was born and DS8 was still under 3yo, MrNG was actually *happy* to go to work on Monday, after a whole weekend of watching over toddlers and helping me with house chores and short nights and no time to think quietly...
Well I didn't do as much as I had wanted. The house is a mess after this weird week of MrNG leaving earlier than me, me taking the kids to their separate daycare places, then full payroll day, then driving home and getting the kids back home and starting dinner with a kitchen that was left dirty and cluttered from breakfast and clothes that no-one had time to put away or even fold, and indoors drying laundry because of the rainy + windy weather, and, and, and...
So well, preparing dinner while cleaning up leftover breakfast items and putting away groceries at the same time, was not within my abilities tonight. MrNG helped. He's now cleaning up in the kitchen, I'm in bed eating chocolate which is very rare and surely the sign that the week was hard on me. I still need to read bedtime stories, and handwash some payroll clothes, and before bed self-care.
Have a peaceful evening and night, everyone !
