The Wichien Maat, ( other names are Thai cat.amd Traditional Siamese) is, as their name suggests, a native of Thailand. The breed is considered the ancestor of the Siamese, while being both more stockier and more rounded. They have short and dense hair, light on the body and dark at the extremities (the colour darkens with the age). The dark colour can go as far as forming a mask on the face. The head is very triangular in shape, with eyes as blue as possible and ears broad at their base and rounded at the tips.

The Thaï has a life expectancy of between 12 and 20 years. It is an averaged-sized cat, with females weighing approximately 7 lb, and males between 9 and 11lb. They are talkative, sensitive and very attached to their owners, and they demand attention! They are also Intelligent and docile, very endearing and sweet natured.

Their original name, "Wichein-maat" means "Golden Diamond", or "Moon Diamond" in Thai. This shows just how much the breed was appreciated and treated with devotion. Most likely because Thai people thought that the "high-ranking" dead chose the body of a cat to reincarnate. These cats were present in the temples where they were treated with respect.

Various legends circulate about their origins and history. The oldest of them says that, on Noah’s ark, a monkey fell in love with a lioness and that of their union would be born the Thai cat, which would have the peculiarity to present the courage of the lioness and the agility of the monkey!

The Thai cat had a place in the Court of the King of Siam, former name of Thailand. It is said that these cats were used to guard royal treasures and that they would eventually become cross-eyed from staring at the jewels for so long. This peculiarity is nowadays considered a defect, and these cats are excluded from competitions.

Another legend is linked to another of their physical peculiarities, the "break" in the tail. It seems that the Princesses of Siam used their tails to hold her rings. The weight of the jewels thus caused the "break" of the tail.

In 1871 that the King of Siam offered to the Ambassador of England a couple of Thai cats, which is the origin of their appearance in Europe. They were bred selectively which gave rise to the breed of Siamese cat, with a finer silhouette than their ancestor.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Today is the funeral of DH's DAuntie, followed by the wake (somewhere? Still no idea of the location..(Sigh!) DH's family are.not the most organised of people!) . My outfit is hanging up all ready to go, and I will need to pour DH into his suit! (Last time he wore it , it was so what right in places. At least now though, he has a shirt that fits him.)

More prosaically, I need to finish cleaning the kitchen, which I started last night, before we leave. Having slept for most of yesterday, Freddie is in very good spirits this morning, presumably as a result of foiling that photographer?!!!

Ugh. I'm sorry about the covid L Ann. Is DD32 positive as well?
I hope the wake and the funeral go well, Kitty. Was dh able to get into his suit?

LOL on the book discussion last night! We have bookshelves in most of the rooms here, and they're overflowing. There are piles in our office room on either side of the bookcase in there. LOL! I have a hard time decluttering books. I also strangely like cookbooks but use the same recipes over and over again, trissie.

It is sunny here today. There's not a cloud in the sky - at least not in the section of the sky that I can see out my living room windows blocked by trees. LOL! It is 30 with a forecast high of 45F.

Yesterday, I was fairly productive, which felt good! :) In broad strokes, I made a WF grocery run, went to the weekly KS2J get together with friends, got in some exercise at the gym, helped cook and host dinner for 5 -- dd27 and Fable stopped by so there were 6 for a bit. I got another lol washed - put away. On the payroll front, I stopped by the school and exchanged books (and chatted with AC for a short bit), attended 2 Prof Dev meetings 1 - 2:30, and got my syllabus made. Some payroll, some exercise, some social time. Not too much done around the house but it's still in decent shape (on the surface at least) from cleaning last Friday before hosting the dinner party.

Today, I have more payroll: prepping for class and then teaching 1:30 - 3:30. I'd like to walk outside for exercise, make progress on Mom's laundry - 1 more load (I've decided I'm aiming for 1 load/ day) and on her memorial thank yous. Dinner is leftover white chicken chili over rice and roasted squash. I think it will be late bc dh is going to a talk on campus 6-7.

Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- s2s and self care

Later:
- payroll: set up Telegram group
- payroll: prep AAS D1
- payroll: print out syllabus + any other hand outs (get to know you game?)
- walk
- 1 load of Mom's: w d f bag for give away
- 1 thank you
- lunch
- 1:30 - 3:30 payroll: teach AAS D1
- reach out to JK
- Kroger?
- email reply to cousin J
- do we have Fable tonight??
- late dinner: white chicken chili, rice, roasted squash
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update health apps

TaDas!
- up; weighed self --going up. egads.

Good morning, kitty ~ L.Ann ~ helian ~ and all incoming!

L.Ann ~ ugh! So sorry about the covid, but like you said, these days it's more just like a bad cold. Hope she's not too miserable and has a quick recovery.
kitty ~ I'd say it's extremely unusual to not know where to go to the funeral the day of. I've never heard of that happening in my entire lifetime. Good luck! Keep your powder dry, kitty! :D
helia ~ I envy your sunshine. It's going to be gloomy here for a few days. Won't see the sun till the weekend.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind and encouraging words. It means a lot.
Never got back here yesterday. Ended up going to the flooring/tile showroom to look at bathroom tile, kitchen backsplash, & carpet. I thought about putting down wood where the carpet is now, but just replacing carpet will probably be the easiest and quickest to do. Samples are in the trunk. I might run back and pick up the carpet board for a day. Might not get to the condo today to compare samples, but definitely tomorrow.

Today's short list:
• gym
• Meet with supply warehouse rep to talk about fixtures, sinks, bathtub, cabinets, etc.
• maybe meet with clothes lady to swap pants.

Okies.. I've done early morning QT, physio, check in. I'm a bit behind in the schedule, but not too bad. Gym next.
Off to flybys.

Hopping on the book confession train.
I couldn't even tell you how many books I have. I still have books from home-educating - and health books, and cookbooks, and self-help books, and... etc. I have gotten rid of a lot, including our old set of encyclopedias.

Morning all. At first the description the cat sounded very much Stella. Except I don't know where she got the coloring as Luna is her sister. Full grey long hair. Stella is short hair siamese with those colors description. Her body is short and because she's overly round she gets the name loaf or football. With a funny stub tail that looks like it was injured but there was no sign of it when she was tiny. She wags her tail like a dog cause it's stiff. But dh phone gave him a memory picture from 5 years ago. Same Stella snuggled in my arms like she is right now 😆.

Sorry about the covid lann. I hope it goes away soon and doesn't turn into more for dd32. Or you. Lots of times it is just a cold now.

Hopefully the funeral gets sorted and goes off well kittykat.

Morning smile lee. Sounds like you are redoing a couple places and building. A lot. But fun picking colors etc. I desperately need a new living room carpet.

Very productive day yesterday helian.

I am off today. My house is a complete disaster again. I think because I have been so tired and also frustrated with my crochet but determined. I think I redid those most of 2 rows like 3 times ? Now I finally left it at the end of a row which I'm going to examine closely before stitching into it.

My day is going to turn out somewhat busier than I planned. Bible study this morning. I told dad I would bring mom home from the center today. At least if he brings her in taking her home won't take too long. I need groceries. And the last of Caspers food is in his dish.

Plus I have got to make the house look better. I waited for ds after basketball last night. Brought him home and he promptly took out some sausage and made supper. I crashed on the couch with my crochet. Nothing got done after supper. Kitchen is a mess. Just feels like every room is needing help. And I feel like I'm not going to get very far cause shopping and errands ..

Tired just thinking of it. But I'm going to start with routines... a lot can look better before school run.

Priority list

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Groceries
Dog food
Bible study
Mom home from the pines
Finish cleaning vacuum and use it again
Declutter entry and fix shoe storage

Today's tada list

Shower
S&s both baths and start a load
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some
Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen
