Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
Countdown to Thanksgiving in just one week! Seven short days!
What are you thankful for today? Despite my grumblings about going, I had a wonderful time yesterday seeing dh's niece, her dh, and 16 y/o son. And despite losing my closest family, I have cousins - many on maternal side, only one on paternal. I think I'll check in with cousins today!
And along the way, how are Thanksgiving/holiday prep tasks coming along?

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
woke to a female coyote in our yard - another reason to have a temporary fence.
I will contact our guy who helps with heavy work and see if he could put up a temporary fence so that we can let the dogs out.
I don't mind the coyotes bc they were here first but I have to be careful with our dogs - esp. dd's dog as he would go after it (and there is a large coyote den in the woods near us.
(I will say she/coyote was beautiful)
I woke feeling panicked by what I have to do as cleaning lady is coming - I took a nap yesterday afternoon bc I was tired and did nothing the rest of the evening.
I had to remember that I am strong and with my cards then I can focus on one task at a time. (my cards are my super power
)
today: call heart dr. for dh and move the appointment that dd older made for him- who doesn't want to go - he does have a dentist appointment tomorrow
text the young man that helps me in the yard
errand: I forgot - I had an errand lol (I will look in my card file)
-----------------------
Thought that I would share a song/poem for the thanksgiving journey to come:
OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS:
Little fact: it originally focused on going to grandfathers house.
"The poem was originally called "The New-England Boy's Song about Thanksgiving Day," by Lydia Maria Child. It was first published in 1844, and its popular title "Over the River and Through the Woods"
Little fact: it originally focused on going to grandfathers house. I like the grandmothers house version better
Over the river and through the woods,
To grandmother's house we go;
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh,
Through (the) white and drifted snow!
Over the river and through the woods,
Oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose,
As over the ground we go.
Over the river and through the woods,
To have a first-rate play;
Oh, hear the bells ring, "Ting-a-ling-ling!"
Hurrah for Thanksgiving Day!
Over the river and through the woods,
Trot fast, my dapple gray!
Spring over the ground,
Like a hunting hound!
For this is Thanksgiving Day.
Over the river and through the woods,
And straight through the barnyard gate.
We seem to go extremely slow
It is so hard to wait!
Over the river and through the woods,
Now Grandmother's cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

done!
2. dh washed the few dishes that were there
3. I did a put away of dishes that he washed
4. shined the sink
5. washed the counters

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
Hi!
No prep needed here. Dh and I have been speaking about Christmas expectations a lot in the past few days. We have also talked about his legs. I told him that I WILL be telling the doctor about his leaking legs if he doesn't. I told him he probably has to go back on the water pills, even if it's only for a few days. He has agreed to that and he said he will tell the doctor. (Huge sigh of relieve here!)
Dh said he would like a small bottle of aftershave.
He's never worn it in the past 11 years. I will start to look for one. As he said "one that you like". He also wants to go to a certain store and buy me some candy for my stocking, but he can't remember what kinds I like, so he's asked me to go there and take pictures and text him the pictures. I can do that.
Compost and garbage have been taken to the road. The recyclable bag isn't even half full, so it can wait another week.
We are having leftovers tonight.

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
We were worn out last night when we got in - a little later than last week when I went to Knoxville, but some of same route. Cloudy day so it got dark earlier too. We both ate out of the refrigerator and dh fell asleep in his chair, I got in bed with the dog. I don't think I even looked in. I woke dh up at 9 p.m. and it was lights out then.
Dcleaning lady is coming today so I need to PUPA for her. Dh is out at his workout now, s/b home soon. And we have to be at the Jewish federation at 10.00 to meet with them on our prescription drug plans. I don't know why dh set this up, could as easily be a phone call. Whatever I guess. I'm planning on in and out. Before we go I need to walk the dog, etc... Auuuugh. Then he comes through interrupting me...

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
Good morning
I'm 61 cards into my day so it has been a successful start. After a flurry of activity including personal care, opening kitchen, walking and dropping DD14 off at school then I'm ready to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Last night, DH was wandering around looking for something, and when I asked, he said he couldn’t find his phone. I called it, and it rang. When he picked it up, he said, “This isn’t my phone. My phone is a flip phone.” I assured him it was his phone, and that he hasn’t had a flip phone in years. This kind of memory loss has been happening several times a day. I was hoping it might be due to a UTI, but that’s been ruled out again. The doctor has scheduled DH for another memory test tomorrow, and I suspect there will be a big change from the last one.
This is the last homeschool & public-school day before we start a 10 day Thanksgiving break. The anticipation is building....
The temps have dropped into the 70-80F range so I'm going to turn the a/c off .....hopefully for the last time this year.

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
Good morning! I see folks haven’t been sleeping in/too busy to post today.
DC is dropped at school, and I leave again in half an hour to drop DD off at the dentist’s office and pick up DC from school. “Wasn’t DD just at the dentist yesterday?” you ask. Why yes, yes she was. They found a cavity, and I told them they’d need to get her in ASAP because she drops off the insurance in a month. They had an opening for this morning, so we took it.
Ah, Cathy, we used to have those when I was growing up, only we called it “cottage ham.” Haven’t seen it in years; pity, because I loved it.
Glad you had a good time with your DH’s family, Twins, and I hope you have a nice time chatting with your own.
I hope they can take care of that fence for you, blessed. Around here, the coyotes mostly stick to the golf course, though occasionally folks have seen them around the neighborhood.
Oh, LadyM, I’m sorry! (((Hugs))) to you over your DH slipping. (Which causes me to think of Rose, who I hope is recovering well from Covid.)
Got my cards revamped yesterday, and it seems so far like I did OK. I added a few things, but I still got to bed on time; we’ll see if that holds. Today, besides the dentist appointment, I need to pick up my latest ADD meds, and I have an appointment with the nutritionist this afternoon.
I hope everyone has a good day!

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
I was up at 3:00 stiff back.
Limbered up did some stuff like three tasks.
It started to rain & I went back to bed and slept hard!
My Rx alram woke me took that.
Not quite as sore.
A day off from leaf duty is in order.
Waving to all!

Re: Thankful Thursday Countdown PWYC
We are home again, that was actually pretty efficient. Far more efficient that the guy who did it in the spring, thank goodness. She logged into our accounts, reviewed meds and costs, and I think both of us changed drug plans for next year. They also had a nice historical exhibit that I took some time to look at. There was a photo that included dd when she was a counselor for their Philanthropy camp. Probably when she was in HS.
Dcleaning lady got here while we were out and just left, not sure she spent much time here but the house looks good.
I hate to go back out this afternoon for workout but I'll do it. I need to stop at CVS also to pick up meds.
I didn't have time for breakfast before we left so I ate a protein bar. Dh buys them and goes through them - he told me today that he put it into a website that rated diabetic foods and it registered as a 1 out of 10 points. I'm not surprised but they are convenient sometime. I need to go downstairs and get a good breakfast, particularly since I'm working out this afternoon.
Dh bowls again tonight. I'm thankful that I'll have some time alone at home this evening, if the dog will leave me alone. I walked her this a.m.
We have weird weather today. After weather advisories this a.m. about fog up until 9 a.m, it still haven't lifted in some areas, especially when we went by the nearby lake. Temps are mid sixties maybe going to 70. I don't know what the high was yesterday here but I turned on the a/c for awhile when we got home last night.
This would be a good time to make two DPC also.
