Juan de Fuca (15??-1601?) was a Greek navigator who sailed for Spain under a Spanish name; his original name was Apostolos Valerianos. De Fuca sailed up the western coast of North America from Mexico to Vancouver Island in 1592, looking for a passage from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. He was perhaps the first European to see this area. He sailed through the Strait of Juan de Fuca (which was named for him in 1725) and believed it to be the beginning of a route to the Atlantic Ocean (it is not). This strait connects the Pacific Ocean to the Puget Sound and the Georgia Strait, and is located between the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, USA, and Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

After sailing back to Acapulco, Mexico, de Fuca was not rewarded by Spain for his journey, and his discovery of the strait was not entirely believed until Captain Vancouver retraced de Fuca’s route 200 years later.

Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for a very.i interesting start.

I never made it back yesterday, but it was a good, productive and also reflective day. Before church I managed to hoover the car, drop my flapjack off at the Y and also walk down to the vets to pick up Freddie's and Matilda's meds. While I was there I also booked Jude's heth check ( fortunately there was time to add this o to her existing weight check,.so only have to bring her in once) and booked Freddie's bloods for the end of March. (He has to be sedated for this, so I like to give plenty of notice, and also combine it with his Solensia, so, again, it's no my.one visit for him.

Then, we had a lovely service,.with a thought provoking talk, and I had a successful podiatrist appointment. When I got home I cleaned the fridge before Waitrose delivered, a.d, while I was waiting for them, sliced the mushrooms and the onions for the mushroom soup DH said he wanted to make for supper. And that was about it!

Today I have a free Friday, so I need to use it well. If it's dry I would like to do something in my garden, and maybe go for a walk. Other jobs I need to do - Freddie's nails, and may e also the Girls' nails, finish updating the kitchen calendar, maybe a little time on my dolls house, or some.sweing?

Good morning to you too, kittykatt! Did you already have that mushroom soup?

Last Friday before we leave. The weather forecast for next week is 14C (57F). I am not overly optimistic about the skiing things this year :-( We'll pack swimsuits (there is an indoor water amusement park about 30 minutes away) and I'll plan some trips and we'll pack board games and we will have fun anyway! Last year the weather was perfect... and DtD-K ended in hospital with a broken leg. So, I guess next year we'll just do the Alps!

Trissie, yes, we had the mushroom soup for supper last night with some freshly made bread, and our joint effort was delicious! DH also added some sweetcorn for colour and a hint of sweetness.

I'm sure you will have a lovely holiday whatever the weather, with no one breaking anything this time!

It's still mostly dark outside, although dawn will break soon. From what I can see, it appears to be dry so far, so maybe some gardening this morning? One weather app gives a 35% chance of light rain today ☔, so that should mean a 65% chance it will be dry,☀️ so I am feeling reasonably optimistic.😀 Not sure about temperature yet, but it's above freezing ATM, (7C) so no ice.

Aaaand - I am done working. For now, at least. I still have two things which cannot wait till after my vacation, so will have to complete them either tonight or early next week (I am taking my company laptop with me because I know there will be one task to complete later in the week). But now it's time to concentrate on getting ready!

Good morning Kittykatt and trissie!

Thanks for the start, Kittykatt. I have never heard of Juan de Fuca... but, upon reading the article, now I want to find out about Captain Vancouver. :D Mushroom soup sounds good... reminded me that I need to get it back in rotation. (I make a mushroom-barley soup)

trissie - I know the distances aren't all that great in your area but let's hope that there will be snow where you need it (while you enjoy the springlike weather at home). Are you getting excited?

We have RAIN . According to the forecast, all day rain. (I'm guessing, Kittykatt sent it our way?)
(my pup wanted to come in before doing anything outside... I don't see an outdoor walk for us today)

What I must get done:
fridge cleaning
garb/rec to curb (by tonight)
random groceries
lol
gym class (missed last night's  )
indoor walk with pup
as many DPCs as I can get done.

Starting with
feed pup
take meds/suppl
d2Ex

go to gym:)

Morning all. Trissie I hope you have a wonderful family time. No broken bones this time and hopefully enough snow to enjoy everything you can. Swimming after would be a bonus.

Kittykat I don't know how you do it. One vet trip wears me out. Your cats are all on their own schedule . Phew. If course yesterday was the big dog's turn.

I have counseling therapy with friends too. Well it's a prayer night with sister friends. And yes heals the soul. So good. I missed a couple times it was so good again last night.

Casper I think overall is fine. He is as energetic and friendly as always just has a few minor bladder issues that I think we caught pretty early. Some added food. Antibiotics which he swallowed in a piece of cheese string without even knowing anything was hidden in it. He made a dog mama proud yesterday unlike the cats. Super friendly. Sweet. Listening when I said sit. Even showed her lay down for a treat.. he loves their liver treats. He's a perfect build she said coming in at 65 pounds. For a large male Sammy just right. Yay. I just have to go out this morning and give him his meds and figure out where to plug his water dish in .

Time to get in the shower and do something. Work this morning again. If I could I would not but doesn't work that way... it's so slow there.
