Re: Henri Matisse Monday
Henri Émile Benoît Matisse ( 31 December 1869 – 3 November 1954) was a French visual artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter.
Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Pablo Picasso, as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.
The intense colourism of the works he painted between 1900 and 1905 brought him notoriety as one of the Fauves (French for "wild beasts"). Many of his finest works were created in the decade or so after 1906, when he developed a rigorous style that emphasized flattened forms and decorative pattern. In 1917, he relocated to a suburb of Nice on the French Riviera, and the more relaxed style of his work during the 1920s gained him critical acclaim as an upholder of the classical tradition in French painting.[6] After 1930, he adopted a bolder simplification of form. When ill health in his final years prevented him from painting, he created an important body of work in the medium of cut paper collage.
His mastery of the expressive language of colour and drawing, displayed in a body of work spanning over a half-century, won him recognition as a leading figure in modern art.

Re: Henri Matisse Monday
Good morning everyone and happy Monday!
Gma,.I'm glad you've been able.to renew your friendship.with Mr VKM.
Bama, cabbage is great if cooked properly! I would never eat it as a child, as my father liked cabbage "cooked properly" ie boiled to death so all the goodness had gone from the limp soggy leaves. When I left home, I discovered that if cabbage is steamed or very lightly boiled, and then tossed in black pepper and butter, it's transformed into a completely different vegetable!
So, Monday again. DH goes to the office, I have to wait in for the kitchen from EE that was supposed.to be delivered on Saturday but didn't arrive, then yesterday but didn't arrive,.and now they've promised definitely today. (As the engineer's visit is booked for 8 am tomorrow, I hope they keep their promise!) It's raining, so I'm quite happy to stay inside and attend to the house, which needs attention. (I've noticed paw and nose marks.on the bedroom.mirror - Matilda?
) DH has suggested it would be a good idea if "we" moved the coats in the hall to give the engineer space to work. So that means another job for me. On the plus side, as the weather is warmer, it would be a good opportunity to sort through everything, wash everything that needs it, and put heavy winter coats away for the summer..

Montbretia at the back are fine, with supports so they don't flop everywhere, and I can keep an eye on them to make sure they dont spread into everything. There is a hardy geranium that's looking sad, but it might do better with less competition andore light? Maybe I could just sow some low growing hardy annuals and see what happens?

Re: Henri Matisse Monday
Good morning! Thanks for the fresh start Kittykatt! I like Matisse:)
Cabbage is one of my favourite things! I love them roasted with some olive oil, Caraway:) I love Coleslaw. They are wonderful Sauteed with garlic, Cheese added at the end . The possibilities are endless... Then, there is Savoy - heavenly... Napa - wonderful:)
I missed you all...
Weekend was super busy (and nice) . There was no time to post.
But here we go:
Today:
I need to pull things together here...
but, I must spend time outside: today's high is 14 C! And, supposedly, it will get sunny! We've been waiting for this.
On Saturday, it was 17 C (mind you there was a fog that would not lift..)
I have a yoga class this morning
Pup needs her walk
I'm going to my DlittleGD's science fair this evening.
Time to get ready:)

Re: Henri Matisse Monday
Morning all. I'm getting rather erratic in posting. I guess I'm just getting tired of lists that are made and not getting done. I say I'm going to and don't. So I just don't post. Sometimes I write but no list.
Guess I'm doing ok. Living with too much headache again. And for some reason frustrated with my house and actually sometimes having time to do something about it but not getting anything done. Little starts and mostly through routine but no decluttering. I did mop last week while making supper and now it needs it again. I've been distracted now by crochet and such. And I'm the bad one leaving things everywhere. Doesn't take much to pick up but still...
As for Casper it's really hard to tell how he is doing. Fine in himself. But a couple times he has had accidents inside. Ugh. I will be taking a sample in this morning again. I'm scared cause dh doesn't very badly want a big vet bill . Shouldn't be. Just a test again and maybe more pills?
I should get up and get in the shower soon. Actually do proper routines.

Re: Henri Matisse Monday
Thanks for the start, kittykatt. The smell always made me not like cabbage cooking as a child, now I just put up with it and add other smells to cover it, like some bacon grease, a nice roast, and I don’t notice it.
Aw how cute of Matilda, it would be hard not to leave the nose print on the glass.
Glad you had a good weekend, kitkat.
LAnn, looks like we swapped weather. It’s foggy here now.
(((Laura))), I totally understand taking a break from posting, struggling with routines, I was in a deep rut until the girls moved out and it shook me up enough to want to try routines again after the mess has snowballed and if I don’t do it who will type thinking. (((Casper))), hope you find a good and low price answer to his dilemma.
I’m up. Time change is weird but I will enjoy a little longer daylight now. Off to retrieve my list.

Re: Henri Matisse Monday
Yay for sunshine, L Ann! Our high is forecast to be 69F. I'm guessing you're even warmer? Sunshine here too! Yay!
I need to refill our bird feeder too.
I've learned to love cabbage as an adult after not appreciating it as a child, Kitty and kitkat. Our current favorite way to cook it is to saute' it in oil with garlic and salt.
Lauralind, I post lists that might look long and impressive, but I never do all the items on them. I might be a very bad list maker. Or maybe I just use the lists as kind of a mental reminder. Anyhow, list or no, we love seeing you here when you can make it! To me, at least, you seem to get things done regularly. I hope the vet is quick, easy, and cheap.
Sounds like some fun activities today, kitkat. Enjoy the yoga class first - maybe we'll see you after.
I hope your kitchen truly arrives today, Kitty.
That's quite a list, Bama! Is your cruise coming up soon?
Yesterday, we checked out of the bnb around 10:10. We put our stuff in the car and walked to the nearby taco truck where dh got a breakfast taco. Afterward, we met the Ks at their church - lovely. We like their Anglican church a lot! Then, it was off to the airport, and we had safe uneventful travels home - just what one wants. The flight from Austin, TX isn't that long - just 2:15 flying time. I didn't do work but read and did a jigsaw puzzle. We decided to eat at a Japanese restaurant at the Detroit airport instead of driving home and figuring something out. We got home around 8:00 pm. Dh immediately unpacked. I unpacked a little but need to finish that today.
Today, I'm having a hard time getting up and going - but I'm up now and drinking coffee. It's sunny and 44*F - and forecast to get up to 69*F (20.6C). That's pretty amazing for us this time of year. Of course, there's a possibility of snow and freezing rain this weekend. BUT that's still a long time out and maybe it will change.
I need to do everything today: payroll (grading, meeting @ 1, make AR Exam, make another practice exam - maybe?), exercise - a jog, get groceries, unpack, maybe laundry - can I get clean sheets on the bed? At least we have an open evening.
Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
Later:
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- WF list
- WF
- Walgreens - pick up script
- put everything away
- strip bed
- load of towels and sheets
- payroll: grade projects
- lunch
- after lunch clean up
- reply to SC re: Anglican church plant mtgs
- email reply to Mom's CPAs
- pick up new ministry - giving
- payroll: update gradelink week 3
- 1 - 1:40 payroll: instructor ci meeting
- payroll: exam prep - make AR Exam
- (maybe) payroll: make a practice exam
- dress to jog
- jog
- dinner: peanut chicken, rice, roasted veggies
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update health apps
- writing time?
- reading time?
TaDas!
- up; weighed self - up 2 pounds but I'm not sure that's real
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website
