I have almost nothing to do today.

I'm all ready to leave for knitting and I still have an hour before the library even opens. Dh was up early.

Cats are all back inside. The sun is shining here today and the temperature is going to be HOT by the end of the day.

I put an update on DMIL last night. Surgery to remove possible cancer is in her future, but we don't know when.

Good morning

Thinking of those SHE friends who are honoring loved ones on Memorial Day. (((Hugs)))

DH knows who I am today, so things are progressing in the right direction. He can carry on a conversation, got himself dressed (weird clothes selection though) and shaved this morning. Simple things that might not seem like much....but he couldn't do any of them yesterday. I continue to keep him 100% monitored because of the unexpected and unintentional things he still unknowingly does. We are together like 2 peas in a pod.

I made a quick trip to the garden and wasn't there 30 seconds before the mockingbird dive bombed me. ARRRRHUPH! I admire the serious devotion the mockingbird parents have to providing complete protection to their babies in the nest. But really....

Good morning, Cathy - what a good topic title. I want to remember and I want to make the day worthwhile, too.

We are sloppy wet and muddy around here today and I don't know how that will figure into any parades or events - not good, I suspect. It rained in pelting downpours off and on through the night. At one point during the noise, HRH mumbled asking whether I thought it would rain, lol.

lucylee, that is an interesting point about those who did not clearly die "in" war. While in D.C., ds searched for the name of my ddad's best friend but did not find it. I'm sure it was because, although he died in a military plane crash in the Pacific Theater, it was actually just after VJDay while doing whatever wartime things were necessary to that particular moment. So, his was not technically considered a death during the war, even though he would never have been there if not for it, and the plane wouldn't even have been flying that flight if not for it. He was always thought of in my family on Memorial Day.

We are beginning Dining Room Week in Focus Cleaning, so I've made out a 3x5 of OMM chores for the week and posted in that thread.
For me, it starts decluttering emphasis in entries, foyer, since we are on the verge of the 3rd round, wow.

LadyM, I read that birds don't like eye contact or anything close, because our eyes are forward-facing like predators, so we should always avoid looking at the nest or them. (I'm sure you do NOT pry.) And they are more reassured if we stay in one place a longer time, giving them time to get used to the presence (I'm sure you don't have time to do that.) And they are alarmed when we walk straight to a destination, happier when we putter here and there leisurely. I wonder what they think of umbrellas. wide sunglasses... .. By this time, the mockingbirds are probably not convince-able.

Sitting outside (in front of the house) away from aggressive mockingbird parents. Enjoying the fresh air and observing nature - birds, squirrels, horses, bulls.
I put music on to play - Classic Rock. DH instantly names the song title and band of the songs. We are surrounded by happy sounds and moments.

I am testing how DH stomach reacts to food and drink today. Yesterday nothing would stay down until evening when he was able to keep sips of 7up. So far today his stomach has seemed to return to normal. I'll wait an hour to be sure before giving him morning meds.

It feels good to be returning to normal pathway baby steps (aka cards) that work so well to ensure the things that matter to me are accomplished or at least acknowledged.

Deviled eggs are also happening here. I did 2 dozen last week and they lasted less than 48 hours. I'll try 2 dozen again this week and see how fast they disappear.

The mockingbird parent has lost its ever loving mind! Now it is dive bombing Sam on the opposite side of the house! There is a fence between the bird nest and Sam so absolutely no chance of him bothering the baby birds. I observed Sam lying flat on the ground sunning himself when the mockingbird attacked. Surely this madness will end this week once the baby birds can fly.

hello - happy Memorial Day!

Good afternoon! Not doing much today. The friends who usually invite us for Memorial Day did not do so this year. I imagine they are all caught up in graduation doings for their youngest daughter. I'll be attending her senior dance recital later this week; my kids will be coming along, but DH has a school event. Later today, DH will be heading over to help some other friends move some furniture. I believe it is some furniture the wife got from her late mom's house. I'm glad he's able to do this favor for them; they are the ones who have driven the kids to the hockey game on multiple occasions.

DH was in the parade this morning with the Scouts. The kids went to watch. I stayed home. It's difficult for me to walk far, and they recently moved the parade route such that we have to go a little farther afield to get to the seating area. There was a flyover, which I heard but did not see. DH and the kids said they could not see it, either -- it was quite foggy this morning. The air must have been clearer higher up, or I imagine they would not have done the flyover. Who knows? Maybe I will be able to go next year -- my mobility has been improving. I have begun feeling a little bad that we are registered for a suite with handicapped tub when we go to the game convention. There are days when I think I could get by without the grab bars in the shower. OTOH, there will be a lot of walking, and in recent years past, I have had at least one day of the convention where my legs gave me so much trouble that I could scarcely stand.

I hope swooping season is over for you soon, LadyM, and I'm glad LordM is having a better day.

I'm not sure what is next. I suppose I could treat this like an ordinary day and put some wash in. Ooh -- that's what I need to do -- check on my flowers to see if any have sprouted yet! Have a great day, everybody!

Ddoggo got rinsed off & I showered and hair is dry for both of us.

Deck is undecorated now.
