Sencha tea is a type of Green Tea, which is soft, mild and sweet in flavour, consisting of traditionally grassy notes with every sip.

Although immensely popular in Japan, it likely originates from China. Nevertheless, debates exist between the two countries concerning its true beginnings, with Japan maintaining that they, in fact, came up with it first!

Legend has it that a Japanese Tea farmer from Uji, near Kyoto, created this infusion while experimenting with different production techniques.

Knowing the locals wouldn’t take kindly to his new Tea, the farmer travelled to Edo (present-day Tokyo) to sell it. Few were interested at first until the farmer visited a small Tea shop, where the owner fell in love with it. Sencha became a phenomenon not long after.

Or so the story goes! Whether there is any truth to this tale is questionable. Yet that doesn’t change the fact that Sencha is one of the most famous Green Tea types in the world. Furthermore, putting taste and popularity to one side, it likewise provides avid drinkers with the Benefits of Green Tea.

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday!

Just my usual quick Sunday CI as we need to leave early for church. Rain is forecast yet again, and temperatures are stil.decodedly chilly, so I need to remember to wear a thicker jacket.

Have a good day, everyone!

kittykatt, what's on the famous Sunday menu today? :-)
lauralind, things kept jumping in my basket at the garden store yesterday too! :-)

Sunday. Movie last night was fun, though I swear the tickets are getting pricier each time we go! But then again, we don't get to go to movies too often, only a couple times per year, so there's that. The girls met with their grandmother, a bit at my insistence - when she was bragging over the phone on Thursday how much time she was spending with my nephew and how he was there for almost the entirity of the five weeks he was confined to bed due to an inflamed hip joint, I snapped and told her she could maybe sometimes at least call my children because they are her grandkids too. She's generally happy for the contact to be me telling her the kids are fine during the weekly call which she spends talking about herself and other people important to her, rarely even asking me how I am, and I'm used to it, but I guess it just didn't sit right with me this time. Families. Always drama ensured!

Anyway, as I said, Sunday. It rained overnight, so my garden is well watered and weeding will be easy. There's also a huge load of laundry that need to be dealth with, and the twins are leaving for a 5 day school trip tomorrow morning, so I need to needle them to pack, and DBD's room could really use some attention before she comes home. So, off I go!

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕

kittykatt, thanks for the start. I think I have had Sencha tea before. Not sure. I prefer black tea to green tea. Thanks for the advice on hair dye yesterday - I purchased a box of permanent dye. I will have to buy another one, as it says in small print on the box that for a first dye or for long / thick hair it's better to buy two boxes... Have a good time at church !

trissie, not very wise comments to make, from your grandmother, to a mother of four who is parenting alone several days a week.

I have read that SHEM in French too, it's actually the tile of a book by a French author (Philippe Labro) who decribes his own experience of depression. I always wondered why it's not "fall down seven times, get up seven" :?:
I was a bit angry ad MrNG earlier (dont want to exactly call him NiceGuy right now) because he weeded a part of the garden where some calendula were trying to grow, I mentioned it to him during the week, and this morning he ripped a lot of things from that spot, he also got rid of the forget-me-nots that I find lovely... to plant some Swiss chards he had sowed weeks ago. Chards are not my favourite veggies, kids don't eat much of it, and they take very long to peel and dice (and doing so colours the nails in grey), I wish I had my say in the priorities for this part of our (small) garden. I'm angry and sad.
Well, there are worse things. It's a quiet Sunday, I intend to enjoy that time away from work, and also I need to be productive, so ruminating over things that make me angry won't help.

TADAs
up after good night
talked finances with MrNG for awhile
tea, bfast with the kids
got started on some cooking
saw MrNG planting chards in garden spot where flowers had been growing, got angry
some more cooking
quick cuop

TODO
dessert for lunch ?
write down the menus for the week (they are on an online shared document but it's not the best for daily use)
have lunch ready
later
check the weekly to-do list
time with DS7 for some Lego projects
do something together outdoors, the four of us ?
probably copy and paste most items from the week's list onto next week's list
weekly vacuum upstairs
dinner
set things up for week of school and payroll
bed early

Ugh, Frenchie, now you make me appreciate that my husband never even approaches the veggie garden! With which I am NOT happy this year. Barely anything I planted actually took, and even things that should be a no brainer like radishes, don't thrive at all. I water it, I fertilize it, but probably the dirt is to clay-ish and there's not enough sun in there. Only with my architect-designed garden there is no other place to actually put the vegetables :-(

I've wondered that too, FFB. How is it possible to get up 8 times after falling down seven? Maybe the initial getting up before falling down the first time is counted? Glad you acknowledged your feelings honestly. Have you tried talking with dh about it? What will your family do together outside?
trissie, we don't go to the movies very often either. Our trip on Friday was very enjoyable! I think dh actually liked The Sheep Detectives. I did too. I liked it enough that I got the book on audible. The book itself was SO expensive that I just couldn't bring myself to buy it, even though I prefer reading books to listening to them. Sorry about your mom's self-focus and unhelpful comments. *sigh*
Hope you had a good morning at church, Kitty. What is your lunch today?

I had such high hopes for yesterday, but in the end, I only did 2 substantial things: (1) a 3.5 mile jog in the heat, which wiped me out more than I had anticipated, and (2) I got the S5 exam checklist and folders set up for the exam team. That is my biggest payroll admin task this week - and now it's done. I also (3) made a quick trip to WF and cooked homemade tomato sauce to go with leftover pasta for dinner, so there's that. And I did my daily stuff too.

Friend JT, who now lives in NY state, messaged me last night about getting together this week. She works remotely for the Big U and comes to town once or maybe twice a year. We're going to get dinner out together on Wednesday. I always enjoy seeing her!! It's a busy week but seeing her is a priority.

Today: Church is at 10, and then we're attending a new members lunch afterward. We don't have to attend the class after lunch (until 3:30) because I did it online a couple years ago. I'd forgotten about that. This is good - I get my afternoon back. I'd like to exercise -- I really need to try the stair stepper at the gym, so I might just bite the bullet and do that. Other things: laundry, clean sheets on the bed, return shoes, buy pillows, pay bills, and finish tidying up the back of the living room (papers on top of the printer cupboard and move dd30's SK surprise from Cmas 2025).

Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- strip the bed

Later:
- reclaim kitchen
- update lists
- find bedding for 1 guest bed; M used it for her houseguest last weekend
- 10-12ish church
- 12-1-ish new members lunch
- darks: w d f pa
- lights: w d f pa
