Re: Happy Canada Day!
I will be using the BBQ to do some chicken later.
There will be pie or watermelon.
Cold salads will be available!!
Other plans include watching the (Blue) Jays today for the only game of the season that they wear red! They also have a large Canadian flag that they bring out before the fans sing O Canada!
MOST stores are closed. Restaurants are open! Being in the Niagara area, there are lot of stores that can be opened if they wish to be. Our favourite grocery store will have that location open, but there other 2 stores are closed.
Today's "feels like" temperature will be 104F where I live!!
Happy July 1st!!

Re: Happy Canada Day!
My goodness, that's a high "feels like", Cathy. I hope the festivities are all still enjoyable in your area even if it's hot.
I was up before 6 and I suppose it was because it was almost uncomfortable to sleep, so very warm in the house. I checked on the garden and did some weeding early. Spiffed the kitchen. I've been sewing and have gotten 5 seams done plus planning. Getting there. The equivalent of 4 more blocks to go of the quilting itself.
Time to scoot around the village and start the monthly threads on this, the exact halfway point of the year, 2026.

Happy Canada Day! Have fun celebrating! It would be neat to see the Blue Jays in red.
Beastly here today. Shoot, I can't remember if I closed the door to the upstairs porch against the heat. That will have to wait; I'm about to set up for a therapist appointment. I'll shut the doors into the dining room, which I've had open to let the air conditioning in. So it'll be warm but certainly not as warm as the sun room would be. Roofer is supposed to come at 3; DH will do his best to be home by then.
I've got a stack of dishes in the kitchen, and I'd like to get the kids' help to do that and clean off the dining table, but that won't happen until after therapy.
Oh! It's time to go! I will try to be back later. Have a great day!

Re: Happy Canada Day!
In between going into the bedroom to enjoy that AC, I have pushed myself to get some stuff done.
Cat litter x 3 are all done. I replaced all 3 boxes
bathroom garbage is out
kitchen garbage is out
I want to be all done by 2:30 when the baseball game starts. First pitch is just after 3, but they will be rolling out a massive flag and I think there might be a flyover. O Canada will be sung. They don't usually do any of this.
I also have to empty the dishwasher.

Re: Happy Canada Day!
Good morning
Happy Canada Day! I love the celebrations!
I've been outside numerous times this morning enjoying the fresh air and sunshine without need to be super vigilant about the heat. Later in the day as the temperature rises then I will limit my time staying outside. I can still get things done in 10 minute sessions without becoming overheated.
I found myself reluctant to pull up the lantanas in the vegetable garden this morning. They are so pretty and have no berries. What if these are a different variety of lantanas that don't produce toxic berries? I can argue both sides of this decision. I acknowledge that I am over thinking this tiny non important decision. I need to just do it and get it over with!! Pulling the flower will have no negative effects on my current & future life. With hundreds of flowers in the garden the missing lantana flowers won't matter. NOT pulling the flowers and removing any chance of loved ones eating the toxic berries could have devastating effect on my future life (and others).
Talking to myself....There is no choice. Just do it. SHEEEz stop with the overthinking!

Happy Canada Day to Cathy and our Canadians! (Sounds like a wild rock band, huh?)
I've been upstairs playing and stamping. Nothing on my calendar for today, and dh is out for the evening too.

Dishwasher has been emptied. I had a cooling down time before that. I have put away the stuff on the dish rack. Now I'm going to cool down again.
It's 37 C here and it is getting quite windy. That is 98.6 F WAY too hot!!

Re: Happy Canada Day!
I have been to town and got supplies.
Restocked the pantry & fridge.
Got some crafting type items.
Red fab. 2 yds. & blue same pre cut Waverly brand.
Did not find any except solids so did not get fun stars
or strips print oh well. I've prewashed it dried it on the deck rail and it's
now folded in half on the table to finish drying in case there was a damp
spot or two.
Food stuffs are put away.
I still need to take items to the basement that are in the over fridge
freezer compartment for now.
I did enjoy it got myself take out for my dinner.
Not sure why I dreaded that so much.
It was a lot and had the cart full.
Glad I had the larger rig.
Had a snacky type lunch.
I even got some marigolds now to decide where to put them.
