Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s comic opera, The Marriage of Figaro, follows servants Figaro and Susanna on their wedding day. They must outsmart their employer, Count Almaviva, who schemes to seduce Susanna. Joined by the neglected Countess, the servants orchestrate a night of disguises, mistaken identities, and farcical mix-ups to expose and humble the Count. The fast-paced comedy is structured over a single "day of follies," unfolding across four acts:Act I: Figaro and Susanna are preparing for their upcoming wedding in their new quarters, conveniently (and dangerously) close to the Count's room. Susanna reveals that the Count intends to invoke the archaic droit de seigneur (the right of the lord of the manor to sleep with a maiden servant on her wedding night) to seduce her. Meanwhile, Figaro is being pressured by the older housekeeper, Marcellina, to marry her or repay a loan. The young page, Cherubino, also arrives seeking Susanna's help after the Count catches him flirting and banishes him.

Act II: The neglected Countess and Susanna hatch a plan to outwit the Count. They plan to dress Cherubino up in women's clothing and send him to the Count instead of Susanna. When the Count arrives unexpectedly, Cherubino is forced to lock himself in a closet. Susanna secretly sneaks back in, swaps places with Cherubino, and he leaps out the window into the garden.

Act III: The Count is thwarted again and suspects a plot. However, a major revelation saves the day: it is suddenly discovered that Figaro is actually Marcellina and Dr. Bartolo’s long-lost son. Meanwhile, the Countess and Susanna draft a secret love letter to the Count, inviting him to a late-night rendezvous in the garden.

Act IV: In the garden, the Countess and Susanna secretly swap clothes. The Count arrives and eagerly woos his wife, believing she is Susanna. Elsewhere, a jealous Figaro spots his bride (who is in disguise as the Countess) and is fooled, though he soon realizes it is Susanna playing a trick on him. The Count, believing Figaro is trying to seduce the Countess, calls for the guards. At the height of the commotion, the real Countess steps forward and reveals the ruse. Caught red-handed, the Count begs for his wife’s forgiveness, and the household joyfully unites for the wedding.

Good morning everyone and happy Friday!

Gma, what wonderful news that you found the missing documents! And WTG with all.yiur work on the quilt backings.

I'm having.a quiet start to today. I was so tired when I went to bed, and I think possibly still a bit dehydrated when I went to bed,. despite sipping water all evening. (There comes.a point when it's so near bedtime that sipping more water really isn't a good idea!) Matilda woke me.ar 2 am amd 3am, as she decided she was hungry, despite having had her isual.supper, so she was banished to the landing for the rest of the night. Then DF CW decided 3.45 am was the perfect.time to message with a query.about the party! So I'm still in bed with my usual cup of tea .and a litre bottle.of.water, with a pinch of salt and sugar added, waiting for this headache to go. (I think I had too much sun yesterday walking home,.as although I tried to keep to the shade, sometimes it just wasn't possible.

Fortunately, I have a free Friday. I need to reply to DSf CW, , and DH has agreed we can have our main meal today at lunchtime, when the kitchen is still reasonably cool, which would them givee the whole evening for my garden, as that will be in the shade by then. I also need to make some scones for the party - maybe tomorrow morning so they would be really fresh?

Good morning Kittykatt - hope you got rid of the headache. Persistent heat is very hard to cope with...
Thanks for the cheerful start:) and, I love Winnie the Pooh's wisdom:)

Happy to read Gma found the papers. Those things can frustrate you.

How are those swim lessons going LAnn?

Phew...
What a week. Today I have no little ones but, I have their chatter in my ears:) They are so much joy to have around. I will miss them but I'm sure some/all will be back next week:)
We had a wild storm yesterday: just as I went to get my DLittle one. We got into the car OK, but then, by the time we reached my driveway, we had to stay put. Wild winds knocked down branches, trees in the neighbourhood. Curiously, there was a 3 ft branch driven into my lawn at a 90 degree angle. (DGD found it funny)
I had tiny pavement ants show up on my kitchen window sill.. I put down the bait -hope it works.

Today, I have a morning class and a nice afternoon outing with DD and DDIL.
We must have a good walk with dpup. There is a laundry pile...

So:
let me get started.
D2ex,
make bed
take med

walk Dpup
start a lol
fill med box

Glad you found the documents, Gma!
I see you're using your extra hour well - with some reading, L Ann. :D
I hope your headache goes away, Kitty.
That sounds like quite the storm, kitkat. Sounds like a lovely day today. Enjoy the walk with dpup!

I didn't get back here yesterday. . . I did all my daily tasks, had my scheduled meetings and my work out appointment, and got most of the payroll GGT spreadsheet done. I need to finish that this morning. I got 2 lols washed and dried; one still needs to be folded and put away. Dh and I had a nice dinner out. Hmm... seems like I'm forgetting something?

Today, I'm going in early to help AC organize the physical final exams in the new place and file away last session's. We're required to keep 1 year of students' final exams in case we are audited. Before I go in, I'd like to:
- exercise on the stair master at the gym
- do my morning routine
- fold and p/a light clothes
- payroll: finish GGT spreadsheet (minus final exams)
- payroll: prep for AAS D4 - make some grammar slides
- set up list in Google tasks (just discovered this yesterday!)
- have/ make a lunch
- call Dr.

After class, I'll stop by TJ to pick up more tamales. Dinner tonight will be tamales, rice, and green salad - a fav easy meal for us. I might also make a small Kroger order or just go pick up a few items that instacart forgot on Wednesday.

It's not clear if CG1 is meeting this weekend since we just went camping together and 4 families so far are unavailable. I hope we don't meet. CG2 is meeting on Sunday, and this is one of only 3 weekends in 3 months (June - August) that we are not traveling or hosting houseguests. Well, if you count S and K, our niece and her friend who will arrive here in August as houseguests, it's only 3 weekends in 5 months (June - October)-- BUT they'll be here long enough I'm not going to count them as houseguests, at least not by the month of October.

Next:
- back exercises
- dress to exercise
- gym: stair master - try for 50 floors

Later:
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower?
- some qt
- lights: fold and p/a
- make bed
- call Dr. re: Diamox
- payroll: finish S5 GGT spreadsheet (minus final exams)
- payroll: prep for AAS D4
- make a lunch
- 12ish go in to payroll
- payroll: move/ organize final exams
- payroll: finish GGT spreadsheet - check S5 final exams
- payroll: start working on TOEFL materials
- payroll: collection bin - move and organize teacher activities
- eat lunch
- 1:40 - 3:30 payroll: teach AAS D4

Hello, all! I hope that you all had a good day yesterday. I had an unusually full day (for me, who has a very quiet life). I picked up my honorary niece and brought her to the hospital for her tests, which went very well. She also needed blood tests from a lab, so we made a day of it. We stopped at a coffee shop in the hospital for a snack and then went on to the lab. After that, we worked our way through rush hour traffic back to her neighbourhood (rush hour starts at 3:00 pm in my city) and she took me out for an excellent lunch in her neighbourshood. I had such a good time with her, and it was a joy to hear her say that she had so enjoyed a day that she had been dreading.
This morning I woke up very stiff and realized that I had gotten unaccustomed exercise walking around the hospital and to and from parking. So I'm off to a slow start while I waited for my muscles to start their day. I think that I'm ready to spiff myself, load money on the laundry card and get some laundry started.
I'll be back to CUOP.
