Federico Fellini (1920–1993) was an iconic Italian film director renowned for blending memory, dreams, and baroque fantasy into a signature cinematic style often described as "Felliniesque."

Early Life and Career Beginnings
Born on January 20, 1920, in Rimini, Italy, Fellini moved to Rome in 1939, initially working as a caricaturist, writer for the satirical magazine Marc'Aurelio, and radio gag writer. He entered the film industry as a screenwriter, collaborating closely with neorealist master Roberto Rossellini on pivotal post-war films like Rome, Open City (1945). Fellini soon transitioned to directing, making his solo debut with The White Sheik in 1952 and achieving his first major critical breakthrough with I vitelloni (1953).

Rise to International Stardom
Fellini achieved global acclaim by breaking away from strict neorealism to explore deeply personal, dreamlike narratives. He won four Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film for La Strada (1954), Nights of Cabiria (1957), the landmark cultural critique La Dolce Vita (1960), and the surreal masterpiece 8½ (1963), which famously examined creative paralysis and self-reflection. Frequently casting his wife and muse Giulietta Masina alongside actor Marcello Mastroianni, his films consistently juxtaposed carnival-esque spectacles with poignant human vulnerability.

Later Works and Enduring Legacy
In his later decades, Fellini continued to produce visually lavish and deeply nostalgic works, including Amarcord (1973), which earned him another Oscar nomination and won the Best Foreign Language Film award. Over a career spanning nearly five decades, his unique artistic vision reshaped the boundaries of modern cinema, garnering a special Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement shortly before his death in Rome on October 31, 1993.

Well, the board is really acting up this morning! But I will persevere and get this posted :-)

I am home, and not working today! The two long days mean that with my part-time, I have enough hour to have Friday off. I need to drive DS to the train station (his last day of the programming camp), get groceries, maybe stop by at the garden store, and tend to the house and the garden. And for my mental wellbeing, I had bought some new fabric this week for a dress for DBD that I'd like to get started on! It's lila cotton knit with unicorns, and I know she will love it, and I will feel better if I do some crafts. There's nothing currently screaming for my attention in the garden produce section, so I can do it! :-)

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. Enjoy your day at home - sewing a dress for DBD sounds wonderful creative therapy for you, and, from your description, DBD should be thrilled with her new dress

Gma, I'm glad you enjoyed a nice supper with Mr VKM,, - you definitely deserved that root beer! And how nice you'll still be able to go and see those quilts .

Today I also have a free Friday. I'm planning to spend time in my garden. I also need to deal.with the carnage in the kitchen. DH is usually in charge.of sorting and putting the dark wash in the machine to run overnight - it's only leggings ,shorts and tshirts, so I figured he couldnt go too far wrong with that. However this morning he announced he had "accidentally" left a.small pack of tissues in a pocket, so you can imagine the result. He's cleaned out the drum and I told him to check the filter, which was clear. But he "forgot" to put a towel on the floor to catch the water when he checked the filter, so there's that for me to clean up, and I also need to check he has cleaned the drum "properly " and perhaps run a quick rinse cycle before the next load goes in. Fortunately I've been wearing light coloured t-shirts this week, and mostly skirts, which I wash on the delicate.cycle, so it's mostly his stuff that is.now covered in white.bits, which *he* will be spending time to remove - I'll introduce him to the delights of the lint roller!

Dogged, the kitchen wasn't actually too bad, at least the floor wasn't longer awash but the floor in there has white "bits" everywhere, and the sitting room carpet also has a liberal coating of white "bits" (did he shake the clothes out in there?! ). So I'm going to need to do a thorough hoovering in there (as opposed to the quick run round I had planned) before it's tracked everywhere else.

But first, breakfast for me, then I'll go and feed Mica, then take Fred out (if he's awake! He's currently blobbed out on the bedroom rug, snoring  ) and then I should still have time to win the race with the sun in the front garden and get the feeding / watering done out there.
