Over the last several - maybe 10 - minutes after arriving, I've made and counted about a dozen moves around the board and gotten through each time without a disappointing message. I hope this continues, but trissie, I see that you did not find it easy just a few hours ago. I'm hoping that this will be the day I can go without calling in to get a representative to help - so far, two have fixed our difficulties (smile), saying, give it 24 hours.

Sounds like trissie, you will be having a lovely day of sewing. I had to change a bobbin yesterday and was so pleased that my eyes managed that the first time (surprise!), with only a little help from popping on my reading glasses. At first after cataract operation, I was holding the magnifying glass to do it - I looked so silly, as though investigating the needle.

helia, I hope you pack everything with great efficiency and not a single necessary item left behind. Have a wonderful time.

Gma, I was sorry to read about the death of your friend - how wonderful that you are able to do something helpful for her brother/family. They are blessed to have you.

Hmmm... .. I knew that Stanley Kubrick's name had popped up on screens in my house a lot, Kittykatt. Turns out, then, that that would have been because it was he who made the film Dr. Strangelove with Peter Sellers, which is a favorite of HRH. He knows a lot of trivia about that movie and loves to tell that Sellers also intended to play a fourth role, the Slim Pickens role of Kong (the release of the bomb and subsequent ride) but was injured so sort of got off the hook, since he never really thought he was right for the part.

I'll be seeing what I can get done around here in advance of tomorrow's bday party for my grandson, one of ddolder's children. I'll be baking a cake with my younger dd for that tomorrow and have everything I need except strawberries, Kittykatt. (smile - those need to be very fresh and really, I want to buy organic if I possibly can.) Need to get a present wrapped. Also, another grandchild can't stand strawberries  so maybe I'll do something extra.

Quick post and then we are out for errands.

The "dancing raisins" experiment is a classic, easy science activity. You drop raisins into a clear, fizzy liquid, and the carbon dioxide bubbles attach to the raisins' wrinkles. This makes them buoyant and lifts them t

Nice to see you here, Harriet. Thank you for your work. The site was a little glitchy for me earlier this morning but just now, it behaved very nicely! Oh yes - Dr. Strangelove! (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.) Great movie! I like Peter Sellers a lot. Have fun baking with dd27 and doing party prep!
Sounds like a fun experiment for young ones. Enjoy Frozen today, L Ann. A play?

Home from the run and feeling virtuous. Now, I need to not bask in the glory of getting my exercise done early in the day -- and go get other things done as well. LOL! I'm sitting and drinking tea first, then I'll get moving. My legs are sore, but I've done 3 days in a row of decent exercise: my trainer, the stair master, and a 3.5 mile run, slightly hilly.

Morning all. I had a couple of links that gave error messages but made my way around cuop with minimal trouble.

Hmmm. Today is wet and raining as predicted. We need it after the hot spell. Finally my garden looks like it might make something. I need to go out while it's getting watered by rain and add some bone meal and fertilizer.

What to do today. A rainy day where both of us are off. House just needs a quick over. Can continue some of the declutter organize projects. Maybe some crafts. Gonna have to see. Dh had thought of helping my dad with stuff but that might sidetrack in the rain too. I don't feel like having a day where he sits and reads all day and I feel like doing something but not motivated if he's not. I think I don't know how to relax.

See if I can get ds interested in something. How does one do that. He's so very resistant. Not even in cooking. He finally grated my cheese for lasagna last night. He said he felt like it is a seasonal thing. He dislikes summer cause it's hot and no schedule and I don't know why else. Almost like seasonal depression but that's usually winter in shorter daylight. Has anyone heard of summer seasonal depression? He's my not fit into any pattern kid. Should be learning to drive. Should be thinking of getting a job. But what... and how to train him to be able to hold a job. My high functioning.. but goodness not right now 😕.

Hmm maybe I would get moving with a soak or shower..

Basic routines and see where it takes me.

Thanks, FrenchFly. I briefly thought that you could keep your ds's away from screens by employing them to colour your hair, but then I read that you don't want a mess and you do want it to look good, so perhaps not.

Thank you, Kittykatt. TodayMe is very pleased about having all of that cutlery washed by the dw, as that is my most loathed dish washing task. And with every vertical surface covered by drying laundry, I can lounge and listen to my Saturday morning radio shows guilt-free.
That is frustrating, that you are still cleaning up after your DH's shenanigans from yesterday. You work hard enough without having extra burdens piled on. I tried to think of a sanity saver that doesn't involve confrontation, and I thought "What if you pay yourself for the extra work you have to do when your DH creates work for you by doing things like sending tissues through the wash and then shaking them around the house?" Like, whatever it would have cost you to bring in a cleaning service to clean it up, just take that out of the bank account and either move it into an account to save up for something nice, or spend it on a cleaning service in the future. As in, give yourself a week off from the big cleaning by bringing in cleaners to make up for the extra time you had to spend this week.
I hope that he enjoys himself on the railway today, and comes home feeling more relaxed.
I'm sure that Freddie enjoyed his birthday treat. I'm guessing that it's exactly what he would have wished for.

trissie, I like your new vocabulary: stay-campt-ion.
I'll bet that DBD would be excited to wear her new dress to your dfs' house for dinner.

You are right, helia. I was accomplishing the Sleep Enough task.
WTG on the 5K run!
I've just realized that the G in WTG is uncomfortably close to the H, so I need to proofread more diligently.

That brings me to the end of Page 1. Time to get up and do something.

Saturday
Found a free audio book app and installed it
Filled the balcony rack and set it up on balcony railing
Wiped down the dishes in the dw and left them on dry cycle
Swept out Germane’s pen and back entrance
Set up the small drying rack and clotheslines
Hung the delicates and landry bags
Took the dishes out of the dw to finish drying
Put away the dw and cart

Heart pill for Germane
Changed Germane’s pee pads
Washed floor around Germane’s pee pads and the soles of my shoes

What did you decide to do on this rainy day, Lauralind?
That sounds like a really fun production, L Ann.
LOL Doggedly! WTG is different from WTH!
Missing you Bama. Hoping you're doing well. And dh too!
Also Peaches.

Working slowly -- feeling tired now. But I'm making very slow progress. 3 hours until everyone is here. I'm going to work on payroll for 1 hour and then work on the house for 2ish. I don't feel it needs to be perfect. . . We're eating outside and might have the entire meeting outside. We shall see.

I think I need to get a new phone before we leave. *sigh* One more thing to do. I'll plan to do that tomorrow. It is very ironic - I needed a new laptop (done), now a new phone and a new study for my QT because I am finishing the one I'm working in now. I also am running out of many of my toiletries -- all of this right before we leave on this trip. Of course! Why??

helia, it feels like the inanimate objects get together and plan who's going to die right before we go away, but I think that it's actually that we are focussing on them. I know that I have most often replaced my phone before a visit to my db, but it's because I rely on the GPS on my phone and don't want it to die en route.
I'm sure that your home is lovely. If anyone runs their finger along a surface with a white glove, just say casually, a propos of nothing, "I ran the 5K today. Did you?"

The board is showing improvement, Harriet. I have been getting in on 2-3 tries. Thank you for looking into it.

That sounds like a fun experiment, L.Ann. And you get raisins and fizzy drinks at the end. Win-win.

It's nice to have a day with choices, Lauralind.
Are there online groups that you can join to talk with other parents of children who face similar challenges to your DS? People who have had the same experiences as you might have some creative suggestions. I realize that in a rural area there might be fewer options for in person meetings.

Lauralind, that will be a great show to bring Little Bit and your DD33 to.

Put away laundry bags
Started new dirty laundry bag
Checked laundry and put away dry. Found the grey napkins on the big drying rack.
Started putting away cutlery
Extended foot rest of office chair and played computer game on phone for a while
]Scrubbed floor around Germane’s dishes
Washed more floor
Dusted back of apartment
