Thriving Thursday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Move past just surviving and thrive today!

Suggestions for thriving:
-focus on physical health, eat well, exercise, attend to sleep requirements
-develop social bonds (one thing the village is doing for us!)
-develop a sense of purpose and a positive outlook for the future.

Hi!

I've been up for hours and I just finally loaded the dishwasher and turned it on. I've also taken the bag out of the freezer that goes into the garbage on it's way to the curb. All compost, garbage and recycling is out at the curb. I also mopped the hall and sprayed some Febreeze.

Dh had a sugar crash this morning even after having some orange juice. He had more orange juice and went back to bed.

Heading out to run some errands shortly.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I slept in today.
Was so happy on my a.m. back yard walk about to have my morning greeting from a humming bird.
Reminds me to say yesterday I saw twin fawns in the back yard of people on my walking route on the loop.
It's saying moderated a.q.i. [Air Quality Index ] but more smoky than it was last evening or yesterday afternoon.

Good news shop at home found a book for quilt making also one of vintage sewing ideas that was fun.
I am still having sinus issues grateful for menthol cough drops time for one of those.
I've been up just over an hr. did qt and one of my journals.

This week
I did look in to the local quilt guild but oh my goodness they have dues, classes, retreats, a bit on the spendy side.
I have a class mate that is active in it. It does met in our town. Not sure that I want to be that involved right now.
But will see if I can learn when they meetings are. They have a quilt show in the spring during the local dog wood festival
in April.

first few done.
Got dressed watered back beds.
I have walked ddoggo / glad I did that when I did smoke is worse now.
Had food bfast bar.

LauraLind I enjoyed your post and looking forward to reading more of your thoughts ideas and activities!
Waving!

All the stuff at the cemetery has left me feeling like I'm in survival mode. First tree came down on 14 June, two more on 3 July. And then the stuff with V last week setting up events that I haven't circled back to resume. And entertaining twice last week. This week has thankfully been more restful and relaxed.

Dcleaning lady is doing her magic. I need to walk the dog and make myself something to eat and get out of her way.

Workout this afternoon. Need to go by cemetery after to check on progress there. Construction, tree company, electric wires, fence repair, and need to look for the gravestones I can't find again. I consulted an older cemetery map and will look again. Text I received a couple of weeks ago that the footstones were obscured by grass. Yes, I agree.

Trying to decide whether to shop tomorrow for a "summer chic" dress or something new for a party we have to go to on Saturday night. The dd of dh's workout partner, a wealthy doctor, is getting married. This is a pre-party and the wedding isn't until end of Sept. I'm not looking forward to it honestly. Thought it was during a baseball game at the pavilion at the ball park - that would be more enjoyable. The pavilion has a massive overhead deck for baseball watching. If it rains, we're to be crowded downstairs...

Well, isn't that annoying?? :x I typed out the whole story of what's been going on around here the past few weeks, and when I clicked preview, it took me back to the login page! It was a long story, too....

The short version is - we had a big storm on July 11 that took down part of our tree. That resulted in us having no power for almost two weeks!! Everything is back to normal now, except for my poor bank account!

I need to get off my butt and get some things done around here:

- put away clean dishes
- wipe stove
- wipe counters
- sweep back entry
- sweep basement stairs

Whatever happened to the feature where we could change the colour of our font?

Good morning
DARE TO DUMP IT!
I love this! If you don't mind I'm going to tweak it a bit and start using it in my cards. My tweak will be DARE TO DECLUTTER IT! Whether it goes to favorite charity or into the trash is a decision made on each item. As long as it goes out of our home is the main goal.
Today declutter item is a custom cowboy hat rack. DH doesn't wear cowboy hats anymore, so it isn't being used. I'll check with DS17 before donating it. He has several cowboy hats that aren't on any sort of wall rack. Hum....I just realized this would be a good time to also declutter the multiple cowboy hats that DH has on his closet shelves.

DD15 and Astra are moving back here today. DD15 has stayed at DD50 home for almost 2 months! This is a first since she was younger than 3 years old. Overall, I think it has gone well but I can see DD50 has maxed out her abilities including a trip to ER from the stress of it. Having another teenager in our house won't be much of an adjustment but having a second dog in our house is an unknown how it will play out. I'm not concerned so much about adding another dog but having a puppy in the house is always a challenge ....looking at RR who is also dealing with a puppy in understanding :)

Bittersweet! So good to see you! So sorry about the lost post, the board was giving us error messages right and left last week. It seems to have settle down except that I keep having to login again on my iPad a lot. The color option is still there but doesn't show up as clearly, it's the little "drop" of ink next to the option for "normal" font on the right side of the little ribbon.

I just commented earlier about "my" tree loss - I'm now chair of the cemetery board at the temple, and we've lost three big trees this summer! The last time was two of them at once, need fence repair, removal of rootballs, and resetting of gravestones. I hate that you were without electricity for so long!

Dare to Dump! Right with ya!

This is pretty amazing LadyM. I assume she will be starting school again soon too? I can understand dd50 being maxed out with the wisdom teeth removal.

Downstairs dcleaning lady has finished, and the dishwasher is running. I haven't checked in with dh re his arrival back home. Supper will be grilled chicken salad - chicken from Monday p.m., chickpeas, fruit, olives, walnuts, whatever else I can find to throw in...

removal of rootballs,
I find this interesting.
We tend to not remove tree root balls because it requires digging (backhoe) and pulling the stump out with high probably of disturbing nearby ground. With multiple utilities buried underneath there is always a chance to break them when removing the roots & tree ball. Instead, they grind the tree stump down below ground level and then put dirt on top of it. The ground isn't disturbed and the dirt addition is limited to the diameter of the previous tree stump.
However we have hard red clay dirt which most parts of the world don't have to deal with. I can only guess the composition of the soil would make all the difference in the best way to deal with tree ball & roots.

DH and I teamed up to portion yesterday's bulk purchase into meal size and get them into the freezer. 10 lbs of Bacon, 5 lbs of shredded cheddar cheese, 5 lbs of shredded mozzarella cheese, multiple rotisserie chicken breasts and big pack of blueberry bagels are portioned & bagged now and waiting in the freezer for us. After I take a break, I will refill the Tupperware containers of pickles and sliced jalapeno peppers kept in the refrigerator door.
