After I posted dh and I went to lay on the bed to rest/read/sleep and both of our phones went off stating there was a tornado in our coverage area. Then the rain stopped and the sky got lighter. The clouds went away. Now the sun is shining and there are very few clouds and they are puffy white ones.

The TV satellite wasn't available earlier. Now it is and the Blue Jays game is just about to start.

That was exactly the right thing to do LadyM. No obligation at all to let her in.

Last night of course wasn't as bad as I expected. I felt well dressed, albeit old. Next to the grandparents of the bride's blended family, we were probably the oldest people there, lol. Lot of dresses, lots of short dresses. Men's wear from shorts/t-shirt all the way up to sport coat, khakis and button down. It poured rain after we got there, had stopped when we went back to the car. DH and I took bride's grandparents home - they live in our direction (parents of dh's workout partner) and we went through some torrential rain but got them home safely. Anyway, it felt like a late night.

I got a decent nap and really should do some planning for the week.

I have done some "work" this afternoon, catching up on some things.
-Revisited the events for the rabbi planning. Listed events that are firm and new dates that can be claimed.
-texted dfriend who was to host (that someone else got the date) about rescheduling if she wants
-worked on an email to dfriend, the daughter of friend V, who wants to join DAR. I'm going to send her a very specific list of what's needed and the forms to go ahead if she wants to do it.
-revisited calendar, added upcoming High Holy Day services (beginning 11 Sept!)
-pulled up last year's Rosh Hashanah invite list and updated (one couple has moved away permanently, one is away but may move back in two years)
-printed RH list for dh, I'm going to try to hold firm against additions
-revisited to do list, and dates. I added a tag for Rosh Hashanah planning

I'm not sure where we are for our supper. Might be sandwiches.

I have done next to nothing all day. Between the rain, the reading and the baseball game, my energy level was so low. I cooked supper in the microwave.

Not a great day as far as getting things done.

LadyM, what a strange visit. Is there any mutual acquaintance you could ask about that? I know you yourself don't think she has developed dementia, but it is possible. If not that, then she's traveled to find your dh on purpose - by surprise - and thinks he should just stop everything and hear what she has to say immediately? If she is still in attendance where you used to attend, she may be trying to pull him into drama or gossip there, which could become very negative for you two, IMO.

We enjoyed the service and later went out on our errand. We did get the advertised specials we were hoping for, but didn't have the cafeteria offerings today. When we got home, he said he thought of that as a date. :| ...really. he said that. lol

I became convinced that their lovely dark green kale will be safe for us because of their vigilance, and especially since I'm thinking of cooking it down on the stove anyway. Had spinach today but cooked in a meal. I've changed to recipes of smoothies that don't have raw greens right now.

It's very rainy here, too, Cathy. Puddles everywhere already and pouring again now.

HRH has a conference call this evening, so is napping now. An unusual day, but things are getting done. Before the call, we've got a plan for supper that sounds good. Maybe after that when he's busy, I'll sew. A benefit to having our man-cave-office and woman-cave-studio spaces at opposite corners of the house.

LadyM!!! That is the weirdest thing ever! An acquaintance you haven't talked to much in the last DECADE tries to bulldoze her way into the house and PUTS HER HANDS ON YOU!!!??? OH. MY. GOODNESS. If that happened to me, here at home alone, that would scare me to death!!! And she wants to see your DH WHO IS IN THE BATHROOM??? OH. MY. GOODNESS.   It sounds like she may have dementia... at the very least, she must have a personality disorder. I am just SMH...

We had very slight showers today, probably while dgrands and I were doing the Prayer Walk at the high school. LadyM, what you said about enjoying the rain reminded me -- you may have told this yourself before -- but one of dh's cousins, an older man, lived in Texas and he told about a sudden rain storm starting, and everyone ran outside to stand in the rain. An out of state visitor said, "Y'all sure do get excited about a little rain, don't you?" The old man said, "Well, it's not so much for myself, but these kids have never seen it rain before."

Hmmm -- so Nancy, are you seriously thinking of moving? I'll have to check your other post.

Reading in bed with the sound of rain outside... that really sounds like an ideal afternoon, Cathy. But I saw that you did have a tornado threat too, so that is NOT ideal. Glad it was a false alarm!
And I'm sorry dh had the sugar crash. That will happen to me if I eat too much sweets or carbs on an empty stomach, or without enough protein. That is why breakfast is so difficult for me -- I just don't like most of the "breakfast" ideas for high protein. (I am not diabetic, although I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia while I was in high school. I fainted at school and had to take a glucose tolerance test.)

Waving back at you, blessed!

Twins, I am sure you looked perfect last night. I never know how to dress for a wedding or anything formal. For funerals, my black pants and white tops suffice... but if they are not appropriate, I am just clueless. I don't like to go barelegged, and I HATE to wear pantyhose, so dresses are very troublesome. I honestly cannot remember the last time I did not wear pants for any event -- even a wedding. I have some beige linen pants, very "flowy" and for summer weddings they have become my go-to. But I'm never sure they are appropriate.
LOL -- talking about DAR... remember all the trouble I went to, ordering shirts for dgrands that had their Revolutionary War ancestor's name on them... got the date wrong... canceled/reordered... shirts finally came in... dgrands don't even wear them. SMH...
Not a great day as far as getting things done.
Well that sums it up for me, Cathy... I'll tell y'all about it in a minute...

I haven't solved or resolved anything, Harriet... I will resolve to start well tomorrow, however. (Y'all have heard that before on Sunday nights.)
Life has certainly been inconsistent this summer, but soon school will start back, and the dgrands will be busier, with no opportunities to beg to spend the night except on weekends. Don't get me wrong -- I am sooo glad they still want to be here with me!!! BUT... sometimes, Nana does need some quiet time and some time to clean and keep a semblance of routines around here.

So how did I spend my Sunday???
Both dgrands spent the night, but we all showered before bed last night, so getting to church was simple.
After church, ddil wanted the kids to come home with her -- she has injured her foot somehow and was hoping to stay off of it and let the kids help out with taking the dog out, etc.
I was good with that, was hoping to eat at home anyway, so I came home, ate left over pizza, and watched Will Roberts' funeral on Facebook.
THEN I took a nap.
I dreamed I was having an affair with Hugh Freeze, Auburn's former coach. * I do not have, and have NEVER had, any romantic inclinations towards Coach Freeze. ROFLOL. I was not as determined to replace him as some of the powers that be, but I promise y'all, he is not up there with my vision of the perfect man. We were at some kind of Olympic high-diving competition, and we were at the top of the platform where they were jumping off. In my dream, it made me dizzy and scared just to look at where they were jumping -- it was more like the height of cliff-diving. Anyway. My mother says she hates to sleep in the daytime because she has weird dreams. I guess I'm getting older.
I had set an alarm, so I got up and went to get the dgrands.
We went to the Prayer Walks at both schools. I don't know if y'all have these in your areas, but this is sponsored by First Priority, a group that holds devotionals monthly (all voluntary attendance and held before the first bell) in the schools. People are invited to walk around the school and pray for the students, faculty, and staff. Since both dgrands are changing schools this year, we walked around the inside of both buildings, and that took about an hour.
Then we went to eat and I took them home.
That is when my day fell apart --
I estimate I spent over two hours just scrolling on my phone. Not looking at anything in particular... just wasting time.
Suddenly, it was 11:00 pm and I had done nothing.

So here I am... checking in to let y'all know how far ahead of me you are!
I want to fill out my planner before I go to sleep, and then my HOPE for tomorrow is to get outside and do some pruning. The man FINALLY mowed the yard -- it looks like we need to bale hay now, and he did NOT finish the weed eating, but I have a vine taking over my porch. Chat says it is Virginia Creeper. I know I cannot get to the roots of it -- prickly holly bushes are in the way -- but I plan to cut it back at least and trim what I can.

Tomorrow, there is nothing on the schedule until 7:30, when dgd's team will play in the volleyball county tournament. If they win, they will have another game Tuesday (possibly two games Tuesday), but if they lose, volleyball season is over.

I'll try to let y'all know how my battle with the Virginia Creeper comes out.
Tomorrow is another day.

d lady - you were not at all a bad person for not letting her in. You are protecting your time and your dh. No reason for her behavior. She may be used to being this way but it is overbearing and inappropriate. She could have written a letter to say she was thinking of you or stop by (for a second) - drop off a little something like cookies or something and then suggesting another time. That she was just thinking of you.

it was a good thing that you said no.
it is always a joy to be here with you!
