dgsW mowed the grass, had a snack but had to get home to homework. I had gotten up a pile of vines in the back yard and hadn't taken them off the yard yet, so he did that for me.

ds also came and stayed with us chatting for a while.

A little bragging - he just finished his Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration. So that took a bit - he is 41 ( smile). He's had the Associate for years. I complained again that his mom didn't really get to help him the way his dad and I always wanted, but it's paid for by the state (?) (city?) not sure. They even expect a receipt to be submitted for the frame he picks for his diploma, so he doesn't need me for that either, and I had been saying let me do that.

The week's appts are Thurs for me, respiratory, then Fri for HRH, eyes, then Friday afternoon, me, blood work. For some reason I was moving everything forward a day in my mind.

Bw2 yes I put an inch or so of water in the bottom of the crock pot.
I cooked the butternut squash after the other one.
They are both doing and cooling.

I have a story about my package got a message it was delivered
nope not to my house or mail box.
I look at the pic. it's next door.
I go to get it in the heat of the day.
Not out side - not one is home.
So I go back and get it after knocking on the door and telling them what happened and asking to check for me.
Yep they had it by the door on the inside all save and sound.

A new shirt I have hand washed and it's trying on the deck now.
The fabric jelly rolls were together but not really rolled up for very nice fabric.
These are patriotic themed ones, the ones with white back ground a bit thin but the rest are great.

So they will be fun to work with.

I have cleaned up the kitchen and put the squash in the fridge after I had packaged it up.
2 min. counter spiff helped me I did a few rounds of that got the crock pot washed up dried
and put away.

Dolly Parton was beloved in the State of Tennessee and Sevier Co. She married Carl in Ringgold GA. just across the state line. At the time, GA had no wait period or blood tests for a license. There's a Dolly mural in that little town. She did so much for young childhood literacy.

I had a good afternoon at the library. An ancestor lived in east ____in 1900, in the sixth district in 1910, and again in east _____ in 1920. Was able to establish through a newspaper article that that the sixth district included East ______ in 1910 to confirm that the family hadn't moved. In truth, that area was the ancestral stomping ground, with family living in that area into the 1970s I think. Whether the family had moved was crucial, because there was a death and a burial in an area I thought seemed far away, yet that area was in the same 1910 district. I also tracked down some obits on microfilm for some of my cemetery people for which the congregation has no info. I'm stumped by one that is in our records, with a date of death that corresponds to an obit, yet the obit indicates he was buried far far away. Another is in our records only as "Mrs Eugene Surname" and her obit is the same. Thankfully, the obit lists her sister, who was local to this area, so I think I can get that one pinned down.

I went by the cemetery after - the fence repair was to happen today but the company indicated they needed additional supplies and would finish tomorrow.

I picked up a rotisserie chicken on the way home and added chicken breast to spring salad greens and stuff from refrigerator and pantry (slivered almonds, feta cheese, marinated artichokes, olives, strawberries) and it is delicious. Balsamic vinegar and olive oil for dressing.

Quiet day tomorrow also. No appointments out for me, but I might take my car to be washed and gas sit up. My new protective floor mats came for the newish car today, so I should vacuum before I install those. We'll see. Dh is supposed to be going to ATL for baseball tomorrow.

Congrats to ds, Harriet! Hard to believe how old he is, I faintly recall him being in HS at one point?

Glad you found your package Nancy! Yes, I've brought in a package then later found that it was supposed to go to another house down the street.

Congratulations to Harriet DS on finishing his degree!

I've been watching the local election returns. The one I wanted to happen most of all was passed. Our little school will be building 2 classrooms which will be designed to survive a tornado. The school doesn't have a storm shelter currently so they dismiss school if a tornado is predicted but sometimes it isn't possible to get students home before the storm hits. When that happens, the students hunker down in school hallway holding their thickest book on top of their head (!!) Although many homes have private storm shelters this new building will allow our community to have a tornado shelter that will hold everyone.

Yes, Mystery, JV is what we used to call B-team -- mostly 9th & 10th graders, maybe a few 11th graders, who weren't good enough to play on the varsity team. They all practice together. Now some seniors play JV if they do not play on Friday night. I guess the main rule is that no one plays in two games a week. It just happens that our three best players this year are 10th graders, so the talent on the JV team is a little low.

Re: the plumber... yes, I was awake & dressed, sitting outside (I got to see a beautiful sunrise, btw) when he arrived.
AND... the washing machine refused to act up. It was like a kid that is a complete hellion all the time, and when the principal comes in the room to see for himself, the child sits up straight and acts like the model child. Kind of an Eddie Haskel turnabout, for you who remember Leave It to Beaver. SMH. The plumber and his helper climbed under the house to see how it was routed out and they were glad to see that it does not empty into the septic tank, but rather on a separate line for "gray water," as they put it... and the plumber ran water straight into the drain for a LONG time and it never backed up... so he told me to wash a normal load and he would come back if it started backing up (he needed to go back to his shop for something and said he'd be about 30 minutes.) Well... I didn't actually do a "normal" load; I did a rather small load... but still -- no leaking, no off-balance, just perfectly completed that load with that smug smile on it's face like, "Now everyone thinks you're crazy, don't they?"
I don't know what to think.
Tomorrow I will try another small load.
I may become one of those people who does a small load every day.

After all that, I spent most of the day in the recliner, and awoke to the news of Dolly Parton's death. I was really shocked and sad to hear that.
I really admired her.
Trivia -- There are 18 entertainers who are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Dolly Parton and Brenda Lee are the only women.

Twins, my parents got married in Trenton, GA, for the same reason -- no blood test, no waiting period (and apparently, a gullible judge who believed my 15 year old mother was old enough to get married. I don't know what the correct age was in 1961. SMH.)

LadyM, we used to sit in the halls like that, with a book over our heads. Now they dismiss at the slightest threat of bad weather, but when new additions are built, I have noticed most of them do have storm shelters. The middle school and elementary school lunchroom is reinforced for that reason and serves as a community shelter when school is not in session. I don't think there is anything for the high school students, however.

Oh -- and the virus is going around here, too. I've seen people posting on FB about it, and dgs came out of the field house last night saying that "half the team has strep throat." DDIL keeps checking his throat, but she does not believe he has it. DS says, "DGS has 'sympathy strep.'"

We have a few paid firemen here in Tiny Town, but a large number of volunteers.
