Good evening! I had a lovely night out for my birthday last night, though we weren’t able to go to my first choice of restaurant. We hadn’t called ahead because we figured we wouldn’t need reservations on a Tuesday evening. So we got there and found a sign taped to the door — closed for dinner. Sorry for the inconvenience. So we went to a Thai place we hadn’t been to in a long time. They have moved; their new location is a bit of a hole in the wall, but the food is still good.

Nancy, I’m so glad your DD is OK.

I spent most of today working on my cards. I’ve tried to tweak them to alternate between more and less physical tasks. I’ve also moved some things I wasn’t getting done consistently earlier in the day. We’ll see how it goes. DH came home and saw the table I’d been working at cleaned up and said, “I hope your card project was successful.” I told him that since it was something I was doing by myself for me, it had to be successful. But I guess we will see if it’s successful over time.

Just remembered I need to adjust my alarm times to go with the new cards! See you in the morning!

No perfection here -- this is a good topic for me!
In fact -- guess what I just did? DGD asked, "Why is there so much suds???" as she looked in the washer, which was remarkably full of suds, compared to what we normally see in the high-efficiency washer.
Well... probably because there are NO CLOTHES in the washer. SMH. I don't know why I started THAT load. I cancelled it -- I don't think I needed to run a full cycle of nothing. SMH.
DGD already doubts my sanity at times.

And a prayer of thanksgiving that none of the firefighters were hurt in the events of yesterday, Harriet!

My ds usually does school drop off and pick up also, but this afternoon, I did the pick up and tomorrow, I'll do drop off. DGD has had a shower and dgs promises he will get his in the morning. He is usually an early riser, so I hope that holds true tomorrow.
DS is out of town and ddil leaves for work too early (usually) to do the school runs (and gets home too late.)

We've been to church. It was my group's night to do "snack supper," so we had bar-b-que pork sandwiches. I love when our group does this because it consists of me, ddil, and a young mom who is part owner of a bar-b-que restaurant. They always donate the pork, and it is sooo good. DDIL brought chips and I brought cookies from Wmart. There were plenty of drinks already there, leftover from last week's meal. Then we had Bible study, led by the pastor, and both dgrands came home with me.

I have been in the midst of a lot of drama lately. (No one else involved, just a lot of decision-making for me.) I have just about decided to go without dental insurance another year. The plan offered by my retirement group is going to come in at around $485 per year. Cleanings and x-rays cost me approx. $250/year -- $100 on alternate years when I don't get x-rays. The fly in the ointment is that my dentist is not in the network, so I would probably still be paying approximately half of this bill, according to the dentist receptionist.
The endodontist IS in the network... and root canals are covered at 80%... BUT... there is a $1250 limit per year on all work.
I do not plan to have another root canal anytime soon, but even if I have one in six months, it will be well above that limit, and it just seems like I'm gambling on poor dental health without much coverage if I DO have problems.
DS says that's the problem with gambling -- the house always wins. Insurance companies are not set up to be charities. Dmom even said she could understand my thinking. I said if I were to have a huge dental bill, my credit limit is such now that I could put it on a credit card and pay it off in a couple months, I think.
So... Thursday is the deadline to enroll... and one of my front bottom teeth IS bothering me. It has a kind of sharp pain when I push on it with my finger. I can just "hear" dh saying, "Well, quit pushing on it with your finger!!!" It doesn't look dark or anything, and it doesn't hurt to eat or brush or floss. I think I am scheduled for a cleaning in December.

The other drama DOES involve dbil, but he is being very accommodating. It's those dratted tickets. Seat Geek offers "Smart Pricing," where they change the price as the market fluctuates. Well... the market started out at $135 for these $55 tickets. We were so excited. The market quickly plummeted and we have now sold 2 of our 4 tickets for $75 each. (After the Seat Geek fees, we'll get about $66 each.) But the other two are still out there. Apparently, although it is our home opener, and it is a night game, our new coach's first game in Auburn... but we still overestimated the drawing power of our opponent, Southern Mississippi. Maybe someone will snatch up these other two before game time. Sigh.

It is almost time for dgd to go to bed, so I better sign off and prepare. I also have to hang two loads of laundry to dry. (I did manage to put clothes in earlier today!) I went to chair yoga, Wmart, and then I had to take a short nap before starting Nana-duty. See y'all tomorrow.

Oh dear, Nancy, I'm glad to hear your dd's wreck was no worse than it was.

Twins', happy for you that you got to be heroic during the meeting - that sounds satisfying.

Dgd was very pleased with her new copy of Pippi Longstocking.

I did learn that the fire house was only slightly damaged, no structural problems.

The sprouts are processed and in the fridge chilling, so that's satisfying.
