Remembering the victims of September 11, 2001, means honoring the 2,977 innocent lives that were cut tragically short across the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. These individuals were parents, children, spouses, and friends from 90 different nations, including 24 Canadian citizens, who simply went to work or boarded a flight that morning without knowing it would be their last. Each name represents a unique story, a devastating loss for a family, and a void left in communities worldwide. Remembering them ensures that their humanity is never erased by the act of terror that took them away, and that their legacies endure through generations.

We also hold a deep, eternal gratitude for the first responders who heroically rushed toward danger when others were running away. On that chaotic morning, hundreds of firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and port authority personnel scaled the burning stairs of the World Trade Center and ran into the destruction at the Pentagon. Tragically, hundreds made the ultimate sacrifice that day, while thousands more continue to suffer or have lost their lives from chronic health conditions linked to the toxic dust and smoke of Ground Zero. Their selflessness defines the very pinnacle of human courage and duty, serving as a permanent reminder of those who give everything to save others.

Finally, we remember the profound compassion of the Canadian response through Operation Yellow Ribbon. When U.S. airspace was abruptly closed, Canadian air traffic controllers and communities rapidly stepped up to safely land over 200 diverted commercial flights. Small towns like Gander, Newfoundland, with a population of just 10,000, suddenly welcomed over 7,000 stranded passengers. Without hesitation, everyday Canadians opened their airports, schools, and private homes, providing food, bedding, and a safe refuge to frightened strangers. This extraordinary display of solidarity anchored an unbreakable bond between neighbors, proving that even in humanity's darkest hours, kindness and unity can prevail over hatred.

9/11 is one of those "flashbulb memories" - the moment and the circumstances of when we learned about it forever etched in the memory.

For me, it was turning on the TV to check the time shortly past 9 am ECT (3pm our time) - seeing the towers still standing, with smoke surrounding them, seeing but not understanding WHAT I was seeing.

Let us remember today the victims, but also the heroes - the ordinary people who found it in themselves to be brave and do the right thing when it mattered. Let us hope that we shall never have to look for that in ourselves, but also that should it come to that, we would find it too.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for a very heartfelt start today , as we remember both the victims.of.9/11 and those who helped in whatever way they could..

I never made it back here yesterday, but my two main achievements were to buy the tins of Christmas chocolate from M&S (Ive checked the use by date and they will be fine until the end of January next year), one to have at home and the others to .give as gifts, and also to cut Freddie's nails without bloodshed, give him a good brush and.do his flea control.

Today I am sitting in the launderette, having taken the duvet for its annual wash. DH announced last night that BIL.is.coming to stay for the weekend. I asked him to put all his stuff in the spare room away. His idea of putting it away is to move it to the bedroom.amd.drop it there,.all ready.for.me.to trip over. Also,.I dont sleep well.in a cluttered bedroom. So, I've just flung it in the bottom of his wardrobe. He really, really needs to declutter and he needs to make a start now , not leave it until he retires I've told him that his main problem that he has no Away (™ Dogged!) to put his extra stuff, which is why he needs less stuff , rather than more! ( He pretended not to understand.when I said this this to.him, thus increasing my irritation with the whole.situation) . My main problem is that I refuse hoover round piles of stuff, nor keep stopping to move.it. Oh, and when I was running around trying to get OTD so I could get to the launderette when they opened, I had to safely evacuate a wasp from the spare bedroom (mainly because cause I don't want Matilda playing with it!).

After a mizzly start , the sun is.coming out. When the duvet is dry,.I'll.drop it off at the car and then get a few more Christmas bits and pieces from M&S foodhall before I get.my.hair cut. Then I'm planning a trip to the garden centre to buy some pansies for my autumn pots . If it stays dry,.I'm planning to paint the garage door and the gate . At some point I'll have to see what kind of mess DH has left in the spare room and sort that out for BIL,.but I want to do outside jobs while the weather is good,.and ensure the wood stain has a chance to dry before the temperature drops this evening.

Good morning and thanks for the start trissie! What a terrible memory. My husband called me from work and told me to turn on the TV ... I did not comprehend what I was seeing. Then they said they were targeting government buildings. The only thing I could think of was that there was one near my DD's school so, irrationally, I drove to the school where all the kids were gathered round a TV set watching ... Later, friends were trying to account for family who were in NYC during that time. A horrible feeling.

Kittykatt when is DH retiring?
Pansies will make you smile anf forget about the "stuff". I don't think we get them here in the fall.

I did not get back yesterday:
had an extra walk with DD and ddogs (hers and mine). The two were so happy to see each other. (Extra work for my arms  )
Did not get to make the broth but all veggies are prepared, waiting happily in the fridge.
Made a soup in the evening, froze some of it.
Did my weight class in the gym.
I finally got 8 hours sleep. (That happens, maybe, once a month...) I needed it - as I had a couple of days with only 2 to 4 hours...

So. Today is the day for the dryer. It will come betweein 1-5.
This morning, we'll do our walk with ddog, disconnect old dryer, run a wash, pa hanging laundry, cook the broth.
All that after my heating pad does its job on my back. I was cautious in gym class, but, apparently, not cautious enough.
