The European Flounder (Platichthys flesus) is a flatfish, and is able to camouflage iits upper body to match the surrounding background.

The Flounder is oval shaped, and can grow up to 50cm long, with a small mouth, pointed snout and square cut tail. The colour olour varies from a dull brown to a greenish grey, with a white underside. It is usually right-eyed and its eyes lie to the right of the mouth. However this is not always the case which makes identification more difficult!

The Flounder is often found in coastal waters, including estuaries and sometimes freshwater,, and is common around all British and Irish coasts.

Flounder offers a mild, delicate, and slightly sweet flavour that’s not fishy at all. Its texture is soft and somewhat fragile. Flounder is best for individuals who enjoy mild-flavored seafood, and even for those who are first-time-fish-eaters.

Hybrid individuals have been known to occur through interbreeding between flounder and plaice!

Good morning everyone and happy Friday!

Harriet, thank you souch for keeping us all informed of the updates to the forum. I read Michael's announcement when I logged back in.this morning (5.45 am BST). I was able to log in on the first attempt., and so far everything is running.smoothly.. :D (I'm still saving as I type just to be on the safe side.)

WTG on the weight loss, Helia!

I'm glad you're feeling better, Trissie.

L.Ann, pizza is an excellent.choice!

Dogged, I'm so glad Germane is safe - it must have been a terrifying experience for everyone.

I never made it back yesterday. Freddie demanded my lap when I got home, and I spent the evening doing some little admin tasks. One still.needs work, but I need to talk to DH this morning.

Today I would like to do.some.work.in my garden,.but it depends on the weather. ATM.we habe the strong winds amd unsettled weather traditionally associated with the upcoming autumn equinox.

Good morning,Trissie! I hope DtDT feels better soon. From the sound of things she is quite capable of amusing herself today and won't be interrupting you, so fingers crossed you have a productive day at home!
