While on my break, dh started to IM with me so I got nothing done over the last while. Except I sent him the annual report and he got it up on the church website.

Now to do something else. What? I need to go get the reports from the printer but the snow is scaring me because I know it is on top of ice. I'll wait until the morning. Not that I know the weather will be better by then.

I'm glad you like hearing about my day, OK! I'm not always sure what others enjoy reading . . . I sure do enjoy hearing about everyone's days here b/c often they're quite different from mine in some way.

I've learned over the last couple years that I really enjoy variety in my days. I am bored doing the same thing all day or even sometimes being in the same place all day. Of course, sometimes there is too much variety in my life, and then it is stressful. I've learned this partially through posting here; posting has functioned kind of like daily journaling for me.

I'm not going to the gym. We are going to try to go to a favorite hamburger/pub restaurant for dinner tonight. We need to go early b/c it is packed with a huge wait by 6 pm. Dh has gone to ceramics for an hour or so, and we'll leave when he gets back.

I'm helping ds and dd16 with packing details. Ds' friends have left to go home. Dh was not particularly impressed with the kids' mechanical abilities (not ds' relative strength either). But, dh watched the Russian work on a circuit board (for the robotic arm for which he and ds are the team members), and he was very impressed with his abilities there.

I started dinner in my toaster oven. I'm having some chicken thighs and cooking extra to go in the soup dh wanted for dinner tomorrow night. The frozen stock is in a pot on the stove and before I wash up dishes tonight, I'll cut up some veggies to go in with the meat so it will be ready to cook up tomorrow.

Then I dusted and vacuumed the upper half of the main floor. I might leave the bottom have until next Thursday - we'll see. We don't use the living room much so it doesn't get dirty and my house doesn't get dusty either. I also removed the winter greens from the dining room and put back the plants that belong in their. They had moved to the office for Christmas. My poinsettia in the laundry room on the dryer - my 'nursery' for plants, although it will likely die while I'm gone. There's an orchid there as well. When we travel, all plants from all over the house (except for Pierre, he's pretty big to move) are moved to the dining room so it is easier for those watering my plants - they don't have go all over looking for them.

I still haven't arranged someone to do that yet. Sigh....

Good night all! I am about to shutdown and go to dinner and a movie with a friend, her DS, my DD, and my XDH. We normally transfer DD on Friday, so we are going to do it over entertainment. Tonight I need to update Quicken, but I am not sure if I will get a chance. I will be putting DD to bed instead.

Possibly all skippable -
Had a very disappointing session with my ddad93 as he tried to remember the faces in the old photos. I am about shouted/screamed out from trying to help him hear my thoughts on them. Except for his mother and sometimes his father, he is usually unsure. He will say a name at first, then talk himself into completely changing families for the person by the time he's through. Many times he thought his younger brother was he himself, and when presented with a photo of himself, wasn't sure. There were a couple helpful moments, but, sad to say, I can recognize the young faces from times before I was born better than he can now, even though I've never seen them that young.

It's not eyesight - he could pick out his mother way in the backgrounds. I quickly skipped over a few things - news stories, obits - that I believed would just upset him. Maybe we'll look at them again in the morning, or, possibly we can find a way for him to look at them with his younger sister, although I fear a session like that will do her no good, and depress her, since she will be surprised he can't remember. There's a definitive list of what the rest of the family knew about the photos, so nothing is a lost cause, I just would have thought my ddad would have been able to add so much, but not now.

If my mother could have seen them, even in her last weeks, she could have offered stories, insight, and documented events, dates, places, but they came to us too late. She was only a part of the family for 6 decades and an absolute angel toward every one of her in-laws - there was no time to let her know where these photos had gotten to, hmmm? Thankfully, there are photos here that I guess people were ashamed to keep away from the rest of the family any longer - I have never seen any photo of my grandparents as a young couple for instance, and there are 4 here, so there are treasures in that way. It does make me a little bitter to think of the selfishness of a few kinfolk, though.

(((Harriet))) -- hugs for your difficulties w/ddad... and for all related frustration w/the photos...
and for being so reassuring to me this morning!
Harmony -- I was just complaining, sort of, about my weight. Again. That was what I thought everyone would be disappointed in me about. I've done nothing but gain, overall, since y'all first "met" me. I'm glad we've lost our previous boards and you can't go back and archive to see just how much I've gained. * sheesh * Some of you probably do have archives from the very beginning... but anyway. Right now, I'm not even obsessing about my weight anymore. Just trying not to get any BIGGER.
* sigh *

Tonight I am obsessing b/c I'm afraid I hurt ddil's feelings!!!
We were eating supper together, and ds asked if we wanted to go with him to this music thing next Thursday, about three hours away, and I really want to go, and dh wants to go... but it will be at least midnight when we get home. Probably later.
Ddil is supposed to work -- 12 hour shifts -- T/W/Th, I think, next week... and she said to ds, "Do you want me to take off Thurs & work Fri?"
And before anyone else could say anything, my big mouth says, "Would you be able to work Fri if you go? It will be a pretty late night."
* sigh * What business is it of mine???
Ddil said, "I could. I wouldn't be driving. I could sleep on the way home..."
And ds joined in w/me... saying they were going back to the same thing on Saturday, and she would probably end up feeling terrible Fri at work AND Sat at the festival, if she went Thurs, too.
So then ddil said okay, she'd work Thurs, no problem...

And when I tried to apologize before we dropped them off at home, she said it was okay, I had not discouraged her from going and I had not said anything I shouldn't... that she just thought if it was a family outing, she would go and be part of the family... (So yeah... that made me feel worse...)

So I still felt bad about it when I got home & I even called her on the phone and told her I certainly didn't know WHY I thought she couldn't work on Friday after a night of gallivanting around -- I was planning to do it, and while I wasn't pregnant, I was certainly a lot older than her, so if I could do it, she could do it... that we'd probably be home by midnight... and I was just worried to death thinking I had made her think I didn't want her to go for some reason! I also told her I loved her and I had just been telling someone today that I really felt like I had not lost a son, I had gained a daughter, and I didn't want her to ever think I didn't feel that way about her.
She said it was FINE... she would work Thurs... it was not a big deal and I didn't do anything to discourage her from going...

But I STILL feel bad about this!!!

My goodness.

It's been a long time since I worked myself into a state over some silly something. I guess I was overdue.
Is this a silly something? I feel like if I mention it again, I'll just be making it worse, but I can't stand to think she might feel like I wanted us to go with ds by ourselves and leave her at home.
I'm such an idiot. I should have never offered an opinion at all. If she wanted to ask to change her schedule her first week of work, and if she wanted to be exhausted Friday & Saturday, what earthly concern should it be of mine. *sheesh*
Tomorrow is another day.

I forgot to start the laundry. For the third night in a row. Sigh.....

Anyway it is on now. I went up to bed and saw the basket there. Now to decide if I should stay up another hour or go to bed and deal with it in the morning.

I went out to read the electrical meter (nightly ritual of dh's that I do for him when he's away) and discovered it is freezing rain again. I'm going to end up having to drive in this after all since I have to get those annual reports and earlier is better than later in case there's a problem with the print job.

I talked on the phone to my music friend. She has tinnitus now and it is driving her nuts. She also has a constant tension headache. No kidding. The tinnitus makes her tense, she'll clench and that makes her jaw sore triggering the headache. But she won't wear her appliance because she doesn't have to any more. Sigh...

I had a half day with a headache after a full day with it yesterday. Still not sure if it is the night guard causing it. I'll give it a few more days. Took a lot of ibuprofin today, though and finally beat back the headache around 2:30. That's probably half of why I was so sluggish today and yesterday.

I think I might get ready for bed now even though it is early. I'm too tired to stay up.

Kathryn, hope your headache doesn't linger.I came down with one on way to jobsite to pick up DH & helper. It was turning into a doosey and I took aspirin, ate something bland to have something in my tummy and fell asleep for 3 1/2 hours. It's still naggy, but a little caffeine helped. Boy your weather sounds awful; be careful tomorrow.

(Lucylee) I didn't find anything wrong in what you originally said. I took it as friendly concern, that's all, and after all she is pregnant! I would just let it go now, you've explained and she said it's ok. I'm sure she knows you love her.

Mail had a couple things to deal with so I did that. Other than that I didn't do much of anything today. Maybe tomorrow will be more productive.
