and one step back?

I'm going to make some progress somehow, two steps forward even if I have to take one back, then I'm still a little ahead.

At work I have lots of half-completed jobs where I'm waiting for client info. Here at home, I just rebooted the laundry and pulled out a sweater from the dry cleaning that my dh helpfully hung in the laundry room. I've been telling him for a couple of years that the drywall screw on one side of the shelf is loose because of the weight of the stuff we've been hanging there....just now, after he left for the morning, the whole thing came down. (Stuff on top, hanging stuff, a ton of plastic clothes hangers. I'm definitely at least a step behind this morning...)

I'm heading on to the shower and on to work, and leaving it for now.....I am running early, after all!

Quick post before I head off to school --

IT'S A BOY!!! -- At least, that's what they say. And I admit, the sonogram does look pretty convincing, IF we are looking at what they say we are looking at. LOL... I just keep thinking, "How sure can they be at 19 weeks? Are we just seeing what we want to see?" But doctor said, "Oh, there's no doubt that's a boy. You can start buying blue."

And REALLY funny story: DS & DDIL stopped to show pictures to my parents on their way home.
Ddil: "Park back here to keep a low profile. This car is filthy & we don't want your grandpa to notice."
(Remember, they borrowed $ to pay for car from my parents, and ddad is a car fanatic.)
One hour later, ddad walks them outside.
Ddad: "Is your car running???"
DS was apparently so excited about showing off his new baby boy, he forgot to turn off the motor!!! ROFLOL!!!

LOL lucylee, over ds leaving the car running and Congratulations to all of you on the baby boy. lucylee, I have 7 grandchildren and each time there was a sonogram and each time it was correct. With all the new technology, I think there are few mistakes, but I don't have any numbers to back me up.

I'm up and S2mocs this morning. DH is out waiting for his ride to breakfast and I've got a l**t about a mile long. But will plug at it.

Pastor will be here after breakfast. I think I want to get a batch of cookies baked before then so the house smells good and it will be good for the group this afternoon.

We were going to have Happy Hour tomorrow for my birthday but about 6 of the couples had other plans. They are the Farkle group (game players) and DH and I don't play games. So we moved it to today. The excuse is that we are now NR residents now as I didn't want them to think it was a birthday party.

Happy Hour is a normal thing around here. You just invite a few and tell them to pass the word. It means 4 pm, with a chair, drink and snack to pass. Lasts about an hour to hour and one half. All the hostess does is provide a place and a snack. Easiest entertaining. We are all so used to living in our RV's where space is limited so an outdoor party is the norm.

Time for breakfast!! And then the cookies.

I'm starting to get excited for Lucylee.

I'm up and at it. No exercise because of time limits. Dh wanted to leave at 10. We'll be lucky if it is noon but that doesn't matter too much because our flight isn't until tomorrow.

He's busy modifying stuff to make an arm carrier and a head phone case for my new mp3 player. I'm busy downloading stuff to my mp3 player. We have 31 hours of travel starting tomorrow morning so all my batteries are charged, etc.

Most things are in the suitcase but there's still a depressingly large pile of last minute stuff. I remembered the yoga mat at 12:01 this morning and put it on the last-minute list. My hat hasn't been packed yet so I'll go do that while I'm thinking of it.

Good morning to everybody!

Congratulations to Lucylee and family. Grandsons are the best! I have 7 of them, 5 we are pretty close to. I thought I'd never get used to boys in the family (since I raised 2 girls myself). But after years of buying boys' toys and clothes, I was feeling out-of-the-loop when our girls came along! I'm so happy for you.

You know how something comes to you in your sleep....well a problem appeared to me as I was waking up today. Two steps forward, Tuesday I picked up taxes from CPA. One step backward, I gave him a check I had in my purse from the day before when we went to the bank and closed the old account! So I called him today to confess and thankfully he hadn't deposited it yet. We had a laugh together and new GOOD check is in the mail.

Helped DH get out the door with list of places / people to see / things to do...paperwork from yesterday, tax package to post office to weigh and mail. I have my desk chores done so far. I have a bunch of filing in my tickler file ready to file next.

I've been trying to cuop from the past few days. This is my preferred way to "detox" on Thursday mornings after the long Wednesday shift at work standing at the service counter.

That's nice that we are a detoxifying element in your life, BookSaver! Could you get one of those shock-absorbing mats like cashiers use? That might make standing less tiring?

My forward and back steps today : Series of events here after Jehovah's Witness folks set off the alarm at my ddad's house by entering the porch area to knock on the interior-porch door instead of outside. I can see how they might do that and think it made sense, but really, nobody ever does that. Anyway, it sure does take lots of us to worry about this alarm situation. Ds26 was interrupted, but, hey, we're all doing the best we can. At this point, the alarm has been stopped but not reset, so I'll have to get that done today. A big part of the responsibility for the alarm (as with many other things) is keeping my ddad from knowing anything unusual has happened.

DPC averted by our excellent librarians here who saw an error soon after I did and corrected it. We had returned a very nice book that would have cost a pretty penny to replace, within a group of books, and it hadn't been checked in properly at first, but the mistake was caught. Librarians are pretty sharp.

Good morning! Last night, I got some stuff done. I ate at church and met some new people, remembered to exercise, brought in the trash cans, and checked the mail. My parents sent silverware. I had already bought silverware, but this is nicer and has teaspoons. I did not have time to update Quicken. Tonight I have a church meeting and will probably work late to make up for yesterday's meeting with the financial advisor. I need to do some laundry, but will not have time tonight. I'm feeling overwhelmed right now, probably because of those 200 empandas DD9 and I have to make Friday and Saturday. I'd love to go back to bed, but I am at payroll and it is a bad idea. At payroll, I need to do lots of flowcharts.
