Home from meeting with treasurer at Panera. Stopped at Walmart for some groceries for us (what I could remember) and fruit and stuff for annual meeting. The gal that I had hoped would help set up is too busy, and I've waited so late I hate to ask someone to come early on short notice to help. I'll be there anyway, and can get set up and review, etc.

Goals for rest of day... not in any particular order:
-leave here by 2:15 for meeting
-s2s
-do some things here to get the house ready for the week, and me ready for the week
-write President's message
-would love 45 minutes for a power nap. or maybe I'll count on an early bedtime. I have a headache going, maybe from having breakfast so late.

After the meeting, we'll see what else I have time to do later today.

Just a quick hello and then we are out the door for church.

DH is doing very well. Plus he wants me along on his walks so I'm walking more now, too. Last night we did about 10 blocks.

It is very hot here until Tues or Wed so we walk early morning and after the sun goes down.

Saw 2 giant blue agave flower stems yesterday on our walk.

I finished writing the president's message and printed, for better or worse. There won't be a big turnout today - we need 50 for a quorum but that includes proxies.

I am going to take an advil and give myself 45 minutes of down time.

Morning Y'all...

It's HOT, HOt, HOt year today and we're expecting to break a high temp record. It was 103 yesterday and am expecting the same today. Normal temps would be around 92, so it is a bit warmer than usual.

Willis is enjoying the weather. I made sure he did alot of swimming yesterday. I have to remember that its always much hotter for a dog than it is for a human. They have a higher body temp and are lower to the ground. Plus the sidewalks are hot on their feet. The heat from the sidewalks and streets do not seem to bother Sadie's tooties as much as they do Willis. I think thats because her foot pad is larger than his.

I need to make a grocery run in a moment and then come back and start grading papers. Need to get progress grades in before tomorrow. It is official. I put in my retirement papers last week and informed my principal on Friday that May 25th will be my last day. She was surprised to say the least. Thought I was too young to retire.

I am excited and looking forward to the Next part of the journey. 25 more school days and it will be here. Waving hi to everyone. Want to do my errand run before it gets too hot...cya'll later..........

Church was awesome even though it had some extra challenges. The person leading our music had to quit effective immediately so we improvised this morning. Hopefully the preacher and elders will come up with a person or plan for the music service in the next couple of days. The preacher is frequently delivering the message in a unique way. This morning he pulled his dually truck into the arena next to the stage he preaches from. In the back of the pickup was a cooker and all the other items that go along with having a tail gate party at a big ball game. The youth had a tail gate party during the service........while the preacher spoke about our decision to be a fan or follower and how passionate are we about who we give our time and effort to. I'll be remembering this sermon message for a while.

My phone vibrated several times this morning during church. Seems we are going to have a bigger crowd than I expected for BDay celebration tonight, so I'll pick up more food to be sure to have plenty on hand. The good thing about the menu is it can be expanded to feed a crowd with very little effort.

Kally - I don't have a big garden like some people do. I forgot the measurements now ....thinking it is 60' x 30'. It is all raised beds and configured to utilize a combination of Square Foot gardening & Ruth Stout methods. It will raise a tremendous amount of produce in a small area with little effort.......A lazy gardener dream.

OOOOH, a visitor!!!!! Welcome, NC SHE!

I'm having an up and down day. Good day at church, bad day recording my friend's service (the broadcast isn't working and the live view of the service has lousy audio plus there was a commercial in the middle of a sung blessing!). I had a lunch out but not as pleasant as I had hoped since dh chose a Subway at a food court instead of a quieter stand-alone location. The lady wasn't home for me to pick up the heart rate monitor (our reason for driving into the city) but she had said she might be closer to two than one o'clock so we went off for a few groceries. I checked out a great health food shop in her neighbourhood and found my maple sugar sweetener once more and stocked up on my environmentally safe cleaning supplies, on sale because it is earth day. Plus picked up the items on my grocery list from the place next door.

The lady still wasn't home when we went back at 2:20 but she sent someone to wait for me and I got the monitor, and I tested it by noting it worked with the chest strap I was wearing. Then it gave weird readings in the car all the way home (I thought it was either electrical interference from the Prius or the second strap being in the car with me but it is still doing it now that I'm home, just not as often.)

I'm thinking I sent good money after bad, trying to avoid buying new (last week it was $8 for a new battery for my existing HRM and this week it was $25 for a used one.) Sigh...

So it is a very up and down kind of day. Dinner tonight is homemade pita pizzas. I bought olives and mushrooms so dh can dress his pizza the way he likes it and he'll have two (they are smallish). I know he'd rather have pizzeria pizza but this is 1/4 the price (or less) and on my diet.

Hello to everyone! Just an ordinary Sunday around here. I really need to get busy w/some "getting ready for Monday" chores (school stuff) but I just can't get myself interested in it! Sent ddil a message to call me if she's awake and would like to go eat with us tonight. (DS is out of town). She probably won't go, but we want her to know she is wanted and welcome.

Five more weeks of school. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

If Jake's ears were a little stiffer he could once again be the flying nun. His ears were blowing in the wind and his scarf. The wind is making it very cold outside.

It gets very quiet here on Sunday afternoon. Everyone has a full tummy from brunch and fin d it is a good time to take a nap.

25 school days left Lucylee, but who's counting

Ran errands, made lunches for dogs, Sweetie and me, and took Willie boy out for a swim. I threw that ball to the other end of the pool 103 times. He jumped in, swam to the ball, swam back to me, and climbed out of the pool each time. You'd think the critter would be a bit on the tired side, but NO....he STILL wants to play. Gonna have good arm muscles by the end of the swimming season. Need to learn to throw with my left arm so I won't become misshaped.

Now need to call my dm. That weekly conversation always takes a while. Then its grading and posting grades. Dinner is meatball sandwiches. I made spagetti last night so am using leftovers. My kind of meal. The Killing and Mad Men are on tonight. I don't watch much tv, but I never miss those two.
