When stressed or under pressure what brings you comfort?
A favorite piece of clothing? An activity? A beverage? A food? A location? A sound? A visual?
I'm sure there is something I missed.
What are your comforts?

Re: Comfort Tuesday
I have several things that give me comfort. A long cuddly robe in the winter, sitting quietly, a cup,of hot tea, tomato soup, any where, it was Dh's snoring now it is Jake's snoring, and the vision of water.

Re: Comfort Tuesday
If I'm not on for a while it is because we are having trouble with phones, and internet from the storm. They are trying to repair everything as quickly as possible. All companies involved say rightfully police, fire, and hospitals come first.
Security couldn't leave the desk last night to do rounds because the phone wouldn't forward to their cell phone.
Some of the other alarms were fixed.
I was so wrong with the rise of the pond water. 3 feet isn't enough. The pond was up 8 feet when I saw it and had been up 12 feet and spilled the bank into the street. The water ran down the street, turned the corner and went to the creek nearby.
The crane, mallards and geese all lost nests.
Jake found a frog last night and was curious. He gently put his foot on it and it hopped. So he kept doing that until it got out of reach. He had no desire to lick it or bit it just make it move.
So I'll be back when I can.

Re: Comfort Tuesday
Good Morning!
Comfort = quietness of the morning, holding/sipping a fresh cup of coffee, sitting outside and listening to sounds of nature.
Indiana - the power of water is amazing. Hope the repairs are quick with minimum impact on service.
I am almost packed and ready to go. LO is still sleeping so I'm giving myself the pleasure of another cup of coffee before the busyness of the day starts.

Re: Comfort Tuesday
C2C, Nice to see you!
Comfort: dh bought me a fleece sweater that I love. It is perfect for flying (deep, inside pockets as well as outside pockets), lightweight, warm and soft (to make into a pillow.) But I also wear it at home because it feels like a hug. I have a sweater of my Dad's that I wear when I need a hug from him. But food is my number one comfort and I'm hitting the kitchen hard right now as I work through the accounting stuff.
I told dh that I wanted 8 hours of rest so if he woke up, he could get up but I was in bed for 8 hours. He woke me at 7.5 hours and asked if I wanted the radio turned on. I agreed and then we ended up staying in bed for another 1.75 hours. Why in the world did he have to wake me up, just to snuggle up against me and fall back asleep? He thought I was awake when he asked me about the radio, so I must have been stirring, but I certainly wasn't fully awake at that point and had trouble thinking about all I had to do when I got up to go to the bathroom (to check on bleeding status) and take a pill before stumbling back into bed.
I've sent a note to Presbytery saying I won't be in until lunch.
I've done my devotions.
I'm skipping my exercise (although I desperately want to do it) in order to get to work at my desk by 10:30. I still have to s2s and eat breakfast before I can get to work.
I finished all the data entry (I think) and ran off reports but immediately one looked wrong and I figured out the error and corrected it. So I think all I have to do for Thursday morning is run off the reports again and tidy the table up. I still have things to do by Friday afternoon for the second accountant, but for now, I think I'm ready for Thursday morning.
My house is in bad shape, though, so it would be nice to get at it for a bit. Dh ended up putting off kitchen clean up until way after bedtime, so I did most of the work because I just didn't want to wake up to a mess today and even if he did work on it after I went to sleep, he doesn't do cleanup to the same level of detail that I do. Even so, I left things like emptying the compost container and sweeping the floor and I'm in bare feet this morning so realize the floor desperately needs sweeping.

Re: Comfort Tuesday
Ah....comfort. An afternoon nap with my ddogs. Sitting outside on a nice afternoon. Or a crackling fire in the fireplace.
At work again today. I didn't sleep well - we had some storm pass through and DMacs was not a happy camper, and it seemed like I was awake for hours. It wasn't that long, just the fact that my sleep was interrupted, I think, and I woke up headachy.
DD was up before I left for work running a fever still - took Ibuprofen and her antibiotic and she was back asleep on the couch by the time I s2s-ed and took off. Need to remember to explain to her why taking a probiotic might be advisable, per Harriet's usual good instructions.

Re: Comfort Tuesday
C2c it's good to see you posting!
Today I'm thinking of the muffin I had for dinner that was comfort food to me! =D
Having coffee while I type this up.
Laundry is going, kitchen spiffed up, trash is going to the curb in a minute h. is going to do that on his way out the door.
I have granny duty after I pick her up from pre-school. That will work out great as I need to pick up some of my pills as well and do a store run. H. is working helping do clean up on a roof job today again & all week too. Dd is helping as well.
More iris are blooming now lavender ones have opened first, and one white with lavender on the edges of it. The yellow and dark purple ones will open later. I went in the kitchen yesterday dgd was very quite opening up tulip petals so she could look inside it she was awestruck and could not wait to see it open!

Re: Comfort Tuesday
Comfort -today that would be having our van packed and ready to go. But I guess for that to happen I MUST get busy and do something instead of feeling "paralyzed". Thanks for your note last night, Lilac. Sure helped put things in perspective for me this morning. I've made a (lengthy) l**t and need to start crossing things off. A lot will be unpacking/sorting/repacking. Afraid we too will be leaving a lot behind. But it's sure too far to make two trips! That would be about 2,800 miles round trip.
Did figure out one little solution after dh called me at 10:20 last night -I was all but asleep.
I kept trying to figure out how I would finish packing by myself in order to take dd to school and then gd to school -having to leave at least 1 seat up. Dawned on me as we talked last night that I can take them to work/school in dd's car. That way all I should have left tomorrow is my bag & toiletry bag.
We had bought a deck heater for our deck up home and I think we're going to try taking that out of the box, probably making a lot more room. If needed we'll take all of DS-A's printed hoodies & t-shirts out of boxes and pack them around in the car. Hoping we don't have to do that though.
I awoke during the night and it was going for 5am before I drifted off again. Didn't wake up until after 7:30 & even then crawled back in bed for a little while. Now it's going for 10:30 and I only have the bed made and myself together. I'm off>>>>>>>>>>>
