Re: MARCHING MONDAY

Post by Elizabeth »

Hi everyone! I am marching toward my departure date (4 July). I have a list of stuff that needs to be packed and a list of things that need to be done. I think my main bag is packed and it weighs 34 pounds, well within the 50 allowed My carryon is mostly packed. I have to do most of the stuff tonight because tomorrow is Girls Night Out with DD10 and maybe her grandmother. I have been getting nightmares about travelling and getting lost or left behind.

This weekend was uneventful. Saturday, I did not have DD because she was with grandparents. I slept late that day then found a bunch of knitters at a coffee shop. My project is going quickly. I am taking it on the cruise. Then I went to see a movie at the dollar theatre (Pirates Band of Misfits, ok but don't pay full price). Sunday I went to church and cat clinic then saw Snow White and the Huntsman with a friend. Or maybe not a friend, she had XDH, DD, and his parents over for dinner on Saturday. I wish I knew what was going on and I wish I knew what I should do about it.

Today I have typed up some minutes and replied to a friend's birthday card. I need to get some reading done, so bye-bye.

Marching steadily through my day:
x finish reclaiming the kitchen
x pick up dd16 at 11:30
x s2s and finish a.m. routine
x declutter clothes w/ dh; funny, the drawers close more easily now.
x ds to orthodontist; she thinks we can call the oral surgeon and just set up the appt. w/out another consult or more X rays.
x did some filing after dd14 went through her basket. Each kid has a basket, for papers mainly, though small sundry items do get parked in them too.

Next:
-finish groc. list
- groc. store? Dh wants my van to go shopping for patio furniture, and I'd like to go with him, so I need to make sure I'm here when he gets home from work.

Looking ahead: This is a pretty quiet week for me. My days are pretty open, though my evenings are pretty full:
M dinner date w/ dd14
T. I'm hosting book club
W. We are hosting a July 4th get together, mainly one of our small groups
Th. Moms group Steering Comm. dinner out

Dh is leaving Th. for NL; his father has been in the hospital after fainting in a groc. store last week. A heart issue; he got something implanted today in his shoulder? I believe to help regulate the heart beat? I'm not sure on the details. Dh thinks his ddad will be out of the hospital by the time he gets there on Friday. Dh will visit Saturday and then come home on Sunday. This is probably the shortest trip to NL he's made yet. His Dad really wants to see him, and dh is happy to see his ddad as much as he can now. Dfil is 87, I believe.

Enough chatting. Off I got to finish meal planning. Dd16 wants to make pesto pasta tonight for dh and ds while dd14 and I are out on our date.

Elizabeth--Bon Voyage! I remember when you first mentioned your trip, it seemed like a long ways off. Time sure flies!

Well, I sprayed 2 wasp nests. Amazing what I am getting done today while avoiding "desk duty." I will attack the paperwork and phone calls tomorrow! Time to start supper...

Elizabeth, yes, your trip seemed like it was way in the future and now it's here!

Cleaning lady's dh was just here and loaded a bunch of stuff. Dh will be pleased he can park his convertible in the garage again!

Macs is hearing thunder altho it doesn't look that close on the radar.

I'm wondering if I should unpack that last box of scrapbooks and repack into two smaller boxes. I'm not sure I can move it.

Excited for you and your upcoming trip, Elizabeth! Like others, I hadn't realized it was so near. It just always seemed out there in the distance.

Back from the groc. store. They didn't have raw brats, so I'll need to get those at WF + beer to cook them in, as dh has requested. We'll be grilling brats, hot dogs, marinated chicken breasts, and some veggie burgers (one friend if vegetarian) for the small group cook out on the 4th. Dh didn't want to do burgers.

Off to put away the groceries.

Storm here, power has been off and on, and I gave dMacs a tranquilizer. Severe thunderstorm watch has expired but there's still plenty of thunder going.

DD also called from camp - she is "on duty" tonight in her bunk so will be there with her campers until and after they go to sleep on her birthday. She was bummed about that. I told her that I'd pick her up on Thursday and get her back to camp on Saturday (48 hours away from camp) if she wanted to come home. Also spoke to Z and told him the same thing and that he was welcome to stay at our house - I think that the closing on his house is also this week - I don't know when or where his mom is moving. His Dad moved out last spring. Missing dd more than I thought I would - somehow at school was able to talk to her more but she's more limited about calling from camp.

I'm doing 75% which is decent. I'm not sure what is going on.

I didn't go to brunch yesterday. I wasn't hungry and I thought it wasn't good to be with so many people and all the smells of food, perfume and aftershave.

I ordered today.

We are forecast for heat index of 100 all week and humid.

I am off to home! Tonight I will be concentrating on getting completely packed and maybe some cleanup in the house. I really need to do some weeding in the side yard, don't know if there is time. I also need to get an inflatable neck pillow from a friend. So much to do, so little time. Tomorrow, I will need to take off early so I can get DCat18 to the boarding kennel. I need to send an important letter and make some copies soon. ACK!!! As I sit here and type, I keep thinking of more things that need to go on the list. Like subtract checkbook. Oh goodness, set timer, do something useful, maybe enjoy a wine cooler.

Back from dinner and a good evening with my uncle. We had berries at his house for dessert after dinner out. My serving of chicken was so large that I had enough to make a sandwich for tomorrow's lunch.

I'm exhausted from all the fresh air and exercise. I want to stay up but may not be able to. Must do some floor exercises to help stretch things out a bit before bed.

Dgd is home again and I've had a nap. She watched most of a movie while she was here I was going to see if she can watch a whole movie wanting to take her to the $1.00 movie place if she can but her mom came to pick her up before it was over it was about 3/4ths of the way done however.

It's muggy here today not that how but icky out side. A couple of neighbors have mowed today but I doubt I'll be doing that. I did pull a few weeds. Folks up the street have moved out he mentioned it when I saw him and his kids at the store a couple weeks ago. His wife wants to go to collage and they wanted to be closer to school and his work.
