To our U.S. Villagers. I've always thought it neat that our Canadian neighbors celebrate
Canada Day so close to our birthdate.
Think our day will be fairly quiet. We went to friends on Conesus Lake tonight for fireworks, picnic, etc/ Actually dh and I left before fireworks began. We were tired and I was drained. I had an experience with gd 13 earlier that had just simply drained me. Probably was a non-thinking teenage thing but scared the byjeepers out of me big time. Other dgd17 was here when I drove into the campground. Called dd to let her know I had shoes for her and as I turned into our drive suddenly there was a huge banging on the side of my car -I wasn't looking that way and never saw gd coming at all. There she was on the passenger side. I thought I'd hit something and was immediately adrenalin pumping. Ended up crying later and was feeling ever so drained. I yelled at her instantly while I was on the phone with dd. It's hard now to explain but only know I was spent for the rest of the day. Of course I got the 'whatever'. And she told her Mom she didn't say a word. But all's well now.
What am I doing up -to wish Elizabeth bon voyage I guess. Bet she's having a hard time sleeping.
Well... dcousin called @ 10:00 -- maybe a little later! Said, "I thought Mama was going to call you & she thought I was calling you! We're eating at our house around 3 or 3:30 tomorrow..."
So... it's all good... at least we know we aren't left out!
DH will be in a BIG hurry to get away in time for ballgame... and will want to go by & check on his dmom... but at least we'll make an appearance.
Why am I still up? We just got back from Spiderman.
Pretty good -- same story, basically... different villain... different actors.
Its been a long day here. Lots of ph calls ... long distance or to mobiles/cell phone - those who have no landline. yikes hate to think of my next ph bill. Thankfully not all outgoing.
Prayers for someone not doing so well. There is bits of impacts on others.

DH and I are both ok that we were not invited anywhere, and will be hiding from the heat. Might go to a movie this afternoon, might just spend an hour or 2 at the truck stop with the newspaper.
We'll watch fireworks on TV tonight. 3 choices: PBS from Washington DC, CBS from Boston and NBC from New York.
I didn't leave the house yesterday, partly because if I went anywhere I would have had to put on makeup and that just felt like too much effort. In spite of posting reminders to myself of how to deal with the heat and constantly sipping from a mug of ice water, I did too much and ended up feeling a bit queasy. The quick-cooking supper was a good idea. Spent all evening watching tv, which always feels like wasted time, but I didn't even have enough energy to do simple sewing.
This morning I got up very early to try to do some chores. Dishes are done, kitchen tidied, and the dryer is working on the 2nd load of laundry. As soon as that load is dry and hung up, I can go back to the cool bedroom and relax awhile.
DH is sleeping in. Last night he said he said he was looking forward to this "micro-vacation." They have a/c at his company, but it can't keep up. I see on Facebook that various parts of the county are having power interruptions.

Br-r it's cold here 40* - 80* is the predicted hi temp. here today now wind thankful for that.
I'm up have granny duty in a bit the guys at sil's work decided to work today so they could have tomorrow off so they could sleep in after the fireworks display b/c they go so late. Glad I paid attn. to the main part of the house yesterday.
Good morning. I have sunned. I have an extra little girl here - don't know when they finally went to sleep last night but dd13 just showed her face.
Yesterday I picked the friend up at 2:00 and the 3 of us made the 2:30 showing of Brave - high, high recommendations, btw. DD13 had been calling it "our movie" since it is loosely based on Scottish tradition but with a lot of fantasy thrown in. She said after seeing it that it is "the best movie I have ever seen in the history of me". So, take that with a grain of salt, since we'd just stood up in the movie theater and she was having a great time with her friend. Both girls did tear up.
It took 2 different fast-food stops to please the little girl, who is very shy about saying what she really wants. Today will be a longer day together, since she goes home tomorrow, so I wonder what we'll feed her!
Beyond that, all the normal interruptions and fires to put out. I thought I'd never get to say a "hello" here.
There is a general pensive feeling in the whole area here, really. You can imagine what our regional paper is full of today - from the banner front page headline, "Good Night, Sheriff", on, it is close to being a commemorative issue. With the several different marathons to chose from on tv, I'm sure we'll be dominated by thoughts of this today. I think I'll suggest to dd32 that she call her college roommate from Mt. Airy, since that particular town must be overwhelmed today. Thank you to Lynlee for wishes from across Old Man Kelsey's Ocean.
It is 90 here, with real feel of 104 at 11 a.m. It is humid.
Dh and I went for a jog this morning; I ended up feeling surprisingly good, considering I (1) ate too much yesterday, (2) I went to bed at 1 and got up at 7 (dfriend S, dd16 and I watched all of Anne of Avonlea last night), and (3) my tummy was slightly queasy this morning. I took Pepper with me, so she got some exercise. I fell asleep again for about 20 minutes once home. . .
Dh is being. . . well. . . dh. He is home all day today and has kind of taken over everything. He has already put back the remaining things in our new bathroom, tidied the bedroom (didn't make the bed though), made the marinade for the chicken breasts, pounded the breasts so they would grill faster, set up the chicken in marinade, cleaned up the kitchen afterward, checked emails (students and colleagues aren't doing much today, so that helps), had a QT, and run 4.5 miles. He did shower after his run too. I did manage to wrestle the laundry chore from him. He has plans to declutter the 2 large hallway closets this morning and has enlisted the girls to help. I think he is paying them. --Oh, he is starting that now. I have the feeling I'll be trying to keep up with him all day. I wonder if this is what retirement will be like? Yikes! I am thankful that he is willing to help around the house, even though it feels a little like he is "invading" my space. . . .
Alright, I'm off to figure out how to get the rest of the drinks cold, have some devo. time, and check on the decluttering. AND dh just found an Easter egg! It would have to be from last year since we didn't hide any this year.
Ds is entertaining himself by making a comp. program to solve 10x10 kakuro puzzles.
I was up early and got a load of laundry done while it was still cool. I will do more on Saturday before we leave on Sunday but this will see us thru til then.
After I put it away the bed called my name and I took a 2 hour nap. Now I feel kinda groggy.
Since I forgot to eat breakfast before I did the laundry - I will now have it for lunch and try to wake up. Almost like starting my day over.
