Re: Thursday PWYC - make your own theme for the day
My theme today is just doin' what I can. No more, no less.
I've already been downtown to meet with rabbi at 7:45 so I could be at new house at 8:45 to meet w Invisible fence people. Then invisible fence people called at 8:30 and cancelled for the day. It's raining still, so I don't mind too much not getting to walk the wet yard in the rain regarding the fence set up.
I have to be downtown at noon for a temple related meeting and I need to be dressed decently for a nice restaurant. I'm printing the reports I need for that meeting now - most of them were reports that I did yesterday afternoon.
Last night's meeting wasn't over until 7:30 then I went by new house for unloading and on to U-Haul and Lowes for additional boxes. U-haul wasn't open by the time I got there, thus on to Lowes. Home late and woke up tired this morning.
Dh now says movers are only moving heavy stuff. We will pack everything else ourselves.
The POD isn't being moved until Monday, and it will need to be emptied at the new house by Wednesday, I think. DH has lined up ds to do unloading Mon-Tues and to work the rest of the week.
Anyway, I need to get rollin' here:
-lay our something to wear to lunch meeting
-reboot laundry - needed to do another load yesterday
-load two boxes from my craft area into my car
-print last report that I need for meeting and get my folder together
-get with packing.....

I'm up. I can feel my jaw but it isn't hurting. Had my regular breakfast instead of making it with hot water to soften the shredded wheat so that's a sign my jaw is working ok so far.
I'm in workout clothes but haven't worked out. Not sure if I will. The sermon is almost done but not quite and I'm still working on music. The musician has finally emailed me so I sent him an mp3 of one of the two tunes that they claim they don't know. The second one, I think they do know, they just don't recognize the name.

Re: Thursday PWYC - make your own theme for the day
Beat the heat Thurs. is my theme. H. came home ill at 2 from work yesterday the heat was too much. H. went back in this morning. One job was delayed b/c the guy getting it ready a private pour ended up in the hosp. from the heat.
I am back from my walk lots of people were out at six today trying to get it done when it's still cool out.
I have the water going in the back yard time to move it just have the hose running a bit on the hot spots. Apples have been picked up.
Coffee is brewing.
No granny duty today.
I do have one errand to do today for h. luckily the office opens early so that will help.
I did help the grands pick up the stuff in the back yard but they did not get to go back inside until ever thing was done, dgdson sneaked off to watch TV and had to get him to come back out and finish. When I told him to tie his shoes he was mumbling some thing about me being so old fashioned! Well duh I'm old! LOL!
Later he learned to crochet with his fingers if he could just understand it's just a diff. from of tie-ing something his attitude could change about that he has some aversion to shoe tieing. I get that as I was 6 or so before I learned I was am a lefty and it was a challenge because my hands worked different they did not know to do it in front of me for a mirror image.
I slept well went to bed with wet hair and it helped me to stay cool.
We will have near 100* heat for the next week.
I tried to spend one on one time with each of the dgkids. Had them each take a turn in helping with the cookie baking and ice cream sandwich making. The older ones helped get the ice cream bucket from the basement. Then we took turns reading 'Pinkalisious" to the youngest dgd even though she knows it by heart now and can read it to us as well! LOL! The younger three played hid n go seek indoor. Oldest one made ice cream san. for h. when he got home.
They hid in the basement from the heat doing yarn crafts until he got home. We had a couple of "recess breaks" before noon and some reading/math time as well so I felt like I was a good granny but kept it fun. Learning can be fun!

Nancy amazing that the heat has broken here and rain moved in, and now you have the heat. I didn't realize that when the rain started on Tuesday afternoon, that it would continue almost nonstop. Also 60% chance of rain tomorrow for first move day.
Printer issues - had to change cartridge and I'm printing reports now. Have put together boxes for quick filling. Also spoke to pest control guy who came by to treat - we'll have another servicer at new houses but will continue here until house sells.

Re: Thursday PWYC - make your own theme for the day
I don't know where the time is going. My theme for today is just to keep going and keep getting things done.
OKay mentioned that she noticed too
how badly DGkids need interaction with us these days. I don't know what's changed except maybe life has speeded up and there is such little time for just "being" together, doing something or not, and at least here the kids just seem to crave any kind of attention and beg for it. Yesterday I must have played 10 games of go fish with DGS 8. Any available minute I'm not involved in something else, he wants me with him. The other 2 are that way too.
In an attempt to DO something fun with them I took them to the bowling alley for an hour, we got 2 games in. That was fun for them and for me watching. Who knew bumpers on the lanes makes it so much fun for little ones and with electronic scoring and graphics now, it's great all around fun!
DH was chaperoning the youth group at local putt-putt golf course and he took our oldest 2. I took littlest so he would not feel left out and we stopped at McD. and then on to the playground. Back home the first thing he wanted to do was play cards.....
I am keeping up barely with office. I've been printing forms this morning, getting ready for permit work, and now I must run and send an email...must pick up a check and get it to bank today. Kids aren't too bad running errands with me. We may try a short trip to local beach. Whew!
All I can say to Lucylee is enjoy the DBaby while he is sleeping a lot!
Wishing all the village weddings great success!
(Twins) hope the remaining packing goes smoothly. I'm glad you will have dson to help.

Beat the heat ideas;
Play time cards too!
Fun in the sun.
Go to the park.
Pack a sack lunch to eat.
Play at the beach.
Fun at the swimming pool.
Dig in the dirt.
Spend some time in the garden or go to the garden shop / center.
Check out the farmers market.
The grands have done most of these this week and today are taking a day in to regroup the oldest one said she was exhausted got a bit too much sun the other day at the water park.
Harmony I love the idea of card! I must get some! We have checkers I need to get them out to a more handy place for next week.

Re: Thursday PWYC - make your own theme for the day
Good morning, everybody! It's back to being too hot here; not hitting 100 but still over 90. I need to do a lot more work on the garden, but I am not likely to do any today! I do need to water the back garden, though. Sweetie didn't water for 2 days while he mowed and edged.
I've been working on my pink lotus cross-stitch lately. It's almost done, and I'd like to get it finally finished. Then I can move on to a few pairs of pillowcases I want to embroider before I start the matching white lotus cross-stitch. Those lotuses are complex designs, about a foot square and fully stitched, no blank areas. So they take forever, particularly when I often go months without touching them.

Re: Thursday PWYC - make your own theme for the day
Think my theme today is "REST" -at least as much as I can. Of course we were up very late on Tuesday, when dgs arrived. So we were dragging a bit yesterday. Then DS-R told us that we needed to meet them in a town about 10 miles from here at 3:45 this morning. Sleep went right out the window. Had just started to doze off and we had a nocturnal visitor on our deck (racoon). DH got up and tried to scare him off, but by that time he was inside our outdoor cabinet -he's figured out how to do that and dh had dog biscuits in there. Thought we had it blocked and he'd decide to go elsewhere. Not so. I tried to go back to sleep and couldn't. Had set alarm on my phone for 2:58. Dozed off at some point and woke up at 3:08 -no alarm. Figured out what I did wrong (never hit save
) So we rushed around and got to the town and waited for 25 minutes. Came back and dozed in the recliner until nearly 10am. So, now here I am.
I've made the bed, s2s, breakfast, meds and picked up 27 things. That's going to be about it. Going to go make a trip over to dd's. We'll probably go into the hospital in a little while and get our "baby fix".
He's already holding his head up and looking around. And I think he was born hungry. DSGD12 stayed overnight at the hospital with ddil last night. She's going to be a really good 'big sister'.
Had a call earlier from dfriend in IN but I was still too sleep laden to answer so will call her back shortly. Know she wants to know about the baby and I need to tell her what's happening with dh.

Re: Thursday PWYC - make your own theme for the day
Dee: I'm sorry but I read your post twice and can't figure out why you had to go to town at 3:45.
I've finished the order of service and sent it to the secretary. I still have to finish the sermon, the prayers of the people and the invitation to offering but the other stuff is written. I also have to memorize the words to their blessing. We sing the same one on special occasions so I know the alto part but I usually have music in front of me and at this church I'll be holding hands with members of the congregation so won't have the words.
Still not dressed. Still in workout clothes, I smell, and I haven't worked out yet. Still haven't planned dinner either.
