So I'm down to just having to write the sermon (about 1/3 - 1/2 done) and the prayers of the people.

I might get in a walk with dh this afternoon.

Just took a nap this afternoon; I am tired from 2 nights of going to bed too late and getting up with ds to go to orientation and from an Advil I took against a headache/stuffiness. I was home from orientation at 1 pm. Since then, I've had some lunch, called in dd14's prescriptions, done some emails, had some devo. time, looked up possible books on tape for the trip, tried to figure out (unsuccessfully) when I need to pick up dgirls, and taken a nap.

*Smiling* at Harriet's comments re: not finishing school early. Yes, I think ds would do well to have another year of maturation, esp. socially, under his belt. He's not particularly immature; I just think it would be good for him.

Next, I'm going to make a phone call and then get in some errands:
-call dermo w/ question
-library
-jog
-groc. store
-pick up dd14's scripts

Then, I'll have some supper. I'll need to pick up ds around 10 pm, I think.

Harriet ~ Ah, I see, I was picturing more of a wading kiddie pool instead of tall sprinklers. Well, alrighty then, I think you're right and it will be more fun to watch from the perimeter. You could probably take a lot of wonderful photos of the action.

Dr P at McD's ~ Yes, I was thinking of it as a treat in an air-conditioned spot. They are currently running a summer special of any large pop or tea for $1, which is not bad rent for table space. I decided not to go today, though. I had a little frozen fruit juice instead, and next I'm going to have an iced coffee. I just realized that I haven't had any coffee yet today, I've just been drinking ice water.

Lucylee ~ Wow, may I have some of your energy? You're on a roll! I'm glad you got your grandbaby news of the day.

Two guys came and fixed the door to the garage so that simplifies things. I gathered up my grocery list and went on to the store. Bought a new broom and dustpan as well as groceries - we left ours at the old house for clean up there and already I'm seeing dog hair dust bunnies everywhere. Also continuing with ddogs orientation to the back yard - took them out with tennis balls and Macs' lovie to play for a little. Kept them close to the porch - trying to get Macs in particular comfortable going out. Also watered plants inside and out.

Ds got home from work safely - he didn't like to have to merge in afternoon traffic in one area but he got here. First time he's driven from new house to work and back.

LOL, about getting the chest Xray tomorrow - I meant to say I needed to get it tomorrow or reschedule! I called the dr office back and they will send the order to the lab at the hospital so I don't have to find the one they sent me last month.

Oh, pffftt... I am NOT on a roll, BookSaver. I just now took a nap that lasted about 2 hours. Of course, keep in mind, the lights don't go out around here till maybe 2:00 a.m.

There is soooo soooo much that ought to be done around here, but it is just really, unbelievably hard to have any sort of schedule or routine w/dh underfoot all the time. And I realize this is going to be a constant battle after I retire... but it is true... I have really enjoyed being home w/dh this summer, so I have to keep telling myself that I will enjoy retirement.
I know I'll miss my identity as a "teacher," and I'll miss my very dfriends/coworkers and the great number of kids that are so sweet and good and inspiring.
But I don't think I'll miss the constant stupidity that comes from all levels of Powers That Be... and I won't miss the constant pressure to get everything done/graded/taught before some arbitrary deadline... a nd I won't miss the smart alecky students who have had no "home-training"... and I DEFINITELY won't miss getting up @ 6:00 a.m. -- ESPECIALLY when the weather turns cold!!!

No... I am NOT on a roll... I am just trying to do that little bitty "mission" for the day that Flady puts out... and I'm actually a day behind on that, even!
I'm trying not to infringe on her copyright by mentioning it here. She had something on her website one day about NOT using her info on other websites... but surely I have not posted enough here to be messing that up.

I also did not walk yesterday OR today. It's just difficult to do when I have to get up and go somewhere early in the day, and then tonight, dh & I are going out to eat, so I can't get all sweaty now, either... but I have GOT to make myself start doing my walk after supper when we do eat at home, b/c once school starts back, that will be my only chance.

BTW -- while I am in teacher mode -- I may have missed something w/your post helia, but if you were talking about early graduation, taking college classes while still in high school, etc -- we have definitely seen that the majority of our students are not ready for sophomore & junior level college work when they leave high school -- even if they HAVE completed their freshman/sophopmore English classes, etc. We have been offering that dual-enrollment curriculum, and all our better students sorta feel pressured to take it, but it seems these classes are just not taught to high school students in the same way that they would be to college freshmen on campus. Plus, the maturity level of the student is different, and while some of our students have done fine once they left the comfort of our little high school, a great many have not. We are not doing dual-enrollment this year, only AP courses for those who want them.

Thinking about Twins & her chest x-ray makes me think of how I keep procrastinating about scheduling my mammogram. I can't remember how long since my last one. At least three years -- maybe more. I have no breast cancer history in my family and I have just become kinda nervous about the possibility of false positives. OTOH, it seems like every other day, I hear of someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer... so I know I should probably get mine done... but I just donwanna. Gotta go for annual check-up w/obgyn next week. He'll probably fuss at me.

Oh well. Dh is getting out of the shower... we'll do our "elder-care" visit w/his dmom and maybe get a nice meal in a "sit-down" restaurant tonight. See y'all later.

I did get a walk in with dh and then we ate dinner. The stew was ready so we were able to eat as soon as we got in the door and had enough time to watch an episode of Mad Men. The kitchen is all cleaned up and I'll turn the dishwasher on now that it is past 7.

I'm home alone now. Dh is off at choir with our church musician. The tenor from our second church came out last night so that means we have 6 from our pastoral charge in the mass choir. Pretty impressive given that we only have about 13 choir members between the two churches. It also means we have every 'voice' covered so we can do these pieces as anthems in the fall!

I should be working on the sermon now. I haven't finished my exegesis yet (should not have started writing before doing so but was excited to start in because I had an idea.) So I'll do that next.

I schedule Jake's grooming for the day we have our council meeting. He went for his "spa" treatment and looks handsome. Even though he just left Sunday he was happy to see his 2 legged friends.

I found out last night that the 5 pm - 1 am security officer took Jake home with him. He couldn't take him to his house because his Great Dane and his fiancees terrier were there so he stayed the night at his gma's. Jake has stayed there before with him and his gma doesn't mind and the cat hides. Earlier in the day he got engaged.

Since it was the 4th they called the emergency vet number and they were closed but they had the emergency number for my vet. She came and got him and took him to her animal hospital. I thought that was special. They all just love Jake.
