helia, I can't believe it. Sigh. It has been my experience that dental surgeons have absolutely ZERO idea of what it takes to get their prescriptions filled, or what happens to their patients when they have to be driven all around to accomplish getting them. They should provide an additional dose at the time their patient leaves to bridge the time until there is a little recovery! I think you should contact them and tell them what happened and that you wish they would warn future patients.

Also,

helia, I'm shocked Walgreens doesn't allow you to pick up the prescription for your child under your roof. That's ridiculous. I have to pick up prescriptions for everyone in my family and some of them have been pretty stiff meds, following ds' fall and HRH's outpatient surgery. Could they not have called the dr to discover that the dr had released him to the care of the very mother asking for the pain med??? They required his driver's license - everyone doesn't have a drivers license! Especially people of the age to have dental extractions. Again, I'd complain.

Poor baby.

One of dd's best friends found out she was accepted in the lottery to attend a private charter school, so that's a disappointment, but hopefully she'll still have other friends in her classes.

Wanted to also say, Helia, that I was allowed to pick up dh's pain meds last weekend and had to show my drivers license. I know that state laws differ but it does seem ridiculous to have to drag ds into the drugstore for his license.

Lots of interruptions - ordered pizza instead of chinese and I'm stopping to eat now. Counters but not "breakfast bar" clean, and certainly not kitchen table, where dd left clothes and ds left a box.

School doesn't start here for another 2 1/2 weeks or a little more. Not sure if they start the day after Labor Day or that Wednesday. I was thinking I only had dgs7 for another week -not so- at least 2 weeks. Have to tell ddil that we can't keep him next Friday -going to Vidler's 5 & dime in E. Aurora, NY. A bunch are going from camp. Imagine I'll be driving since I hold more than anyone else. We can carry 7, including driver.

It is so very dark out -clouds but its not supposed to rain. Wrong here it comes. The cloud cover is very low -low enough to look very strange.

I'm tired tonight but figured out I really had done quite a bit today. That's a good thing -I need to be doing more things. Think I'm fearful that if I get too much done there won't be enough to do, so procrastinate doing things. In reality I'm sure I'll feel so much better if things are the way I want them that I'll instantly have more energy to do, do, do.

GD14's meds are always a problem but especially so when dd comes north for the summer. Her behavior meds can't be filled until they're just about gone and she has a new script for each month. So during the summer her dh has to pick up the script and dd calls all around their city to find a pharmacy that has it. Always a long drawn out process. She even gets a priority box, mails it prepaid to her dh so he can send it to wherever gd is at camp. This year she ran out on a Sunday & it got there on Monday.

I'm annoyed that Helia's ds didn't throw up at Walgreens. That would have taught them! (Of course, I appreciate that he's relieved he didn't throw up until on his own property.)

Dinner is done. While it was heating up, we drove to the general store and picked up the mail. My furnace filters (ordered 2 weeks ago today) were in. Yay! Dh just put them in the furnace. Maybe the house won't smell so musty now when I close it up in the hot of the day.

I cleaned up the dishes but was then ready for a rest. I had dh move the vacuum to this level this morning, thinking I'd be able to do 15s today but that didn't work out. Didn't have the energy this morning, spent the afternoon in bed and am not overly energetic now either.

I am impressed with what everybody accomplished today. Not around here, though, that's for sure.

Wow, I'll bet that clerk in Walgreens just didn't have the right information about the license, etc. Maybe she wasn't aware of his age?

Our state is in drought still and I'm a little confused why. Maybe a little, but gee it's been raining here every day for a couple weeks almost, only missing a day or so. I know the rest of the state has had this much rain too.

I started out the day feeling a little bit of energy. I cleaned up everything on my desk and that felt so good for a change. I did some work in the kitchen and puttered around, but I ran out of energy about 11:00 and that was it for the day. I just feel sorta sick from these meds I'm on. My hand looks a little better, but it is still trying to spread from the edges of the bad spots.

Our entertainment unit is in at the store for us to pick up but we are having difficulty scheduling our pickup. He wants 2 days' notice, and we can't be sure of the weather. It is a good hour ride north of us and we will be bringing it back in the bed of open pickup. I need to be thinking about cleaning out the units we have now and finding a place to take them...I don't have much time to do all this. But I don't have the energy to do it. Well, maybe tomorrow I'll feel better. We're getting rid of 2 end tables too and they are stored with stuff in all the compartments and drawers. I need to make a plan.

Well, the pharmacist I spoke to wanted ds there with his drivers license, though it was couched more as "it would be good," which I understood as "it is needed," though maybe I was wrong. I guess the pain med is a controlled substance and since ds is now 18, it needs to be his license that is shown??? I realized later what I should have done: I should have gone through the drive thru window. That way ds would not have had to get out of the car, walk, and stand in line. Why didn't I think of that earlier?

LOL Kathryn! Ds did start dribbling blood in Walgreens but I caught it with his meds bag - and then he realized and caught the rest with a kleenex he had. --Sorry if TMI. . .

The good news is that he has had some lemonade, some pudding, he took a pain pill - and was sitting up playing games on his computer when we got back from dinner! His color has returned, thank goodness. And he was browsing for more food so got an applesauce cup. *phew* This is a bit rougher than I thought it would be.

A clarification on my job situation for EmptyNester and interested parties:
Technically I am still employed, they are still paying my benefits. However, I have not had any work for 2 months, so I am officially on leave without pay. In other words, no income! I do still go in to work, but usually get there about 10:00 and leave right at 5:00. It is an ugly situation and I am looking for another job to get out of it. I do not have a private place to take calls from recruiters, I am in a shared office. In fact, any conversation in the office can be overheard by everyone, whether they want to hear it or not!

It is 7:30 here. I have had dinner and finished a book. I will start on another I guess. Previously, DD would arrive at 8:00 on Fridays. I am going to have to find some way to fill my Fridays now. Not sure what to do. I hate being divorced.

Elizabeth, thanks for the clarification, I was wondering too.

I watched a dumb movie (but enjoyed it) and then managed to dust and vacuum the bedroom level (a 30 minute combined job.)

Dh is ready for bed so I'll go to bed too.

Dd's godparents are in town tomorrow (or maybe even tonight) so will be dropping by tomorrow afternoon. I gave the OK for this. The main floor of the house is in pretty good shape - 15 minutes should be enough to get it guest ready. I'll make up some lemonade and maybe another batch of rice krispie squares and be done.

Dd32's family arrived safely. We went ahead and had a small party for dd14 while dstepson was here this evening. Dstepson and dsonil arranged to go to an event together in the morning and will catch breakfast on the way. DangerBoy and WonderBoy are camping out here. So I'm sure dd32 and little britches will be here early for pancakes.

I had gotten the vacuuming done but the kitchen floor still needs mopping, so that and the master bathroom will be my emphasis first thing in the a.m. We must have the master bathroom ready for company - one is just not enough with my ddad here. Earlier I visited my colorist, too.

At the other house I did the bare minimums. Changed lightbulbs. Made ice. HRH had gotten some groceries for them, so those were put away.

Dsonil is doing the Atkins way of eating now, so I need to think about meals in that light.
