Dee - congratulations! It is wonderful to be on the receiving end! It is well deserved!!
You do need to be very careful and read the stuff first
This was a topic of conversation with DGS17 & DGS15 last weekend. I asked them which of the Anime type books they would recommend for me to read. They looked at each other and started laughing. They did try to find one for me.....they named a dozen book titles and at each one they declared they definitely wouldn't be comfortable recommending for me to read it. They finally managed to list 3 books....then they kept talking about them and decided those 3 books were maybe's. I told them we need to team up and write a backward graphic novel that was free of violence/weirdness and about pleasant things in this world. :)

LO to school went flawlessly. He held on to my fingers with the grip of a mighty man while we walked to his classroom, but released them and kept a smile on his face as he gave me a kiss and a wave goodbye.

I've added a new ongoing project to my stack. it will be a routine type effort with a goal but no end in sight. The elementary school landscape is h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e. More along the lines as non-existent. Yesterday, I sent a FB message to a school administration person and asked if it was okay if I worked on it for the 5-15 minutes a day that I am there to drop off/pick up LO. The response was extremely positive. This morning after I left LO in his classroom, I spent a few minutes working and filled a garbage sack full of stickers......which didn't make a dent in them....but it is a start.

Next up -
** Print out email from DD and write up details of phone call.
** bank
** pick up LO from school
** counselor appt...while LO talks with her, I will run down the street and pick up lunch at McD to eat in the car while driving LO back to school.

Hope appointment for LO gives you more insight into "Saturday", Okay.

DH just told me that his contact person from C World told him they gave away over $100,000 last night. I would say there was maybe 100-150 people there. Maybe more- hard to say. Think this was a once 'n done event. Celebrating the combining of C World's "President's club" and "Good Sam's".

Okay--Hearing about you dropping off LO at school reminded me that DS would hold my hand going into school until about 2nd grade. Remembering how he sort of threw my hand back at me one morning when he realized his friends might see him!
He usually rode the bus, but there were times I let both kids sleep an extra half-hour and drove them to school.

Bernice, welcome! I enjoy reading about your well-run household.

Harriet--Meant to tell you that temps in SC were very pleasant last week, indeed! Not what we expected for August. Perfect temps for sitting on the screened porch at in-laws.
How you do your work is a portrait of yourself.

DGS7 is getting antsy & bored. Not sure what to do with him. He's playing Wii right now. Neighbors are supposed to pick him to play and I think he becomes more hyper waiting for someone -especially when I have no idea when they'll be 'fetching' him.

I just can't seem to get myself in gear this morning. I now know I have exactly 10 days before DBIL/DSIL get here and there are a few things I'd like to have done before then. (Not for them -for ME). I'm just lazy today.

Good Morning Ladies,

Happy Birthday to the triplets!

Harmony
LucyLee
Sherinjoy

Having ONE OF THOSE DAYS!

First cut my finger while unloading the dishwasher.
Then the dog ate my oatmeal. Of course I put fiber powder in my oatmeal to make sure I'm going.....now guess what the dog is going to be doing today.
Called the company that handles the ads for the phone book. They have messed up again. Two years ago they put us on a yearly plan when we had always been on a monthly plan so every month I had to call them, get late fees removed, explain that we were on a monthly plan. They even sent us to collections at one point. But we paid them off with the payments just like we always did every year. But they wouldn't put us in the next book because we were delinquent.

After I called about that, they sent me a certificate for free advertising in the next book. I have called and called but no one will work with me and today I was told one of the books was already closed and couldn't get into it. I said is this because we are marked delinquent and she said yes, but once she looked into our file she could see the problem and we really weren't delinquent.

What is the sense of issuing free ads if they won't put you in the book?

I told them maybe it's time for an old fashioned lawsuit.

I'm sure DH's business has suffered this year because he wasn't in the phone books.

Done:
/ a.m. routine - still need to start a lol and unload dw
x haircut appt.
x pet store for g. pig supplies
x Trader Joes for maple syrup and odds and ends

Next:
-devo. time (I've been neglecting this and I can tell) while eating lunch
-finish groc. list + list of some supplies for ds
-go to groc. store
-go to B, B, and B to see if they have X-long twin mattress pads, which I forgot to buy earlier

That should keep me out of trouble for a while!

Interesting re: anime books.

Hope your day gets better, Sadie. That does sound stupid and unfair. Reminds me of how our kids' bank sent us a bill for $10 last month as a maintenance fee for dd16's savings account. There was no money in the account -- b/c we had closed the account the previous month b/c the maintenance fee was ridiculously high for a teenager! Or anyone for that matter. I don't remember ever paying a maintenance fee for a savings account. We've had a lot of problems like this with this bank. I asked dh to call since his name is the adult name on the account but he didn't get to it before he left for NL. I don't know if he has done it yet or not - so I don't know if we'll now get a 2nd bill for $10.

Sometimes a lazy day is OK, Dee. Sometimes we just need to rest and rejuvenate -- and the next day may be more productive b/c of it!

Thanks, Harriet -you gave me a thought. I've listed 50 things I want to get done in the next 10 days (5x5 each day). That's quite doable! None of them are BIG things -things like dust the 2 ceiling fans, clean off top of fridge, clean out the fridge, reorganize the bottom of my closet, etc, etc. All things I want done for me but just don't seem to get at. The 5x5 will do it and then some. Thanks>>>>>>>>>>>>

My 5x5 today:

1. Rearrange our bookcase in our room
2. Dust the bookcase
3. Rearrange my closet floor
4. Arrange the shelf unit in my closet
5. Dust the top of the fridge & put a nice towel on top

14 Minutes =that's all it took. 14 Minutes! Knew it wasn't all that much just couldn't decide on a starting point. Did end up putting one of nicer throw rugs on top of the fridge to catch dust -towel was just too big. This works great! Also found a few recipes hanging on the side that I'd been looking for!

Also there were 2 drawings there (one of dh & 1 of me) drawn by Harriet's dd who had to be maybe 8 or 9 at the time? Maybe even younger, forgotten how many years ago that was, Harriet. :P

Good morning! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes - especially naming the day for us!
Happy Birthday to Harmony and Lucylee - thanks for sharing my birthday with me - makes it even more special.

Dh is taking the day off and we're going out for the day - lunch and a country drive around some beautiful backroads. Easy and relaxing - that's the day for me!

See ya later!
