Attempting to slide back into routine using cards. I know most people don't need reminders to do the simplest of tasks, but I'll be honest and admit if I did not have a card to "feed the birds"I would probably forget to do it. I would only remember when I noticed the birds lined up on the fence patiently waiting.

Re: Village Anniversary Monday
You reminded me of 'symptoms', Helia. When DS-A was little he had numerous ear infections. He also had a high tolerance for pain. It got to be a standing joke after we all learned the 'signs'. I'd call the Dr's office & simply say he was ornery & miserable. No questions -just made the appointment. Do remember the Dr. saying he had to admit that whenever I called (which was quite often with 5 kids) that there always was definitely something. No "wolf calling". Used to hate to start going in with any one -because it seemed to be a camp-out at the Dr's office for some time following that first call.
I also remember only being charged $6 a visit!
Have a break right now while dh changes measuring sticks & sides of the campground. Everything now is pretty much on our side. At least we're up through 53 (with a Zero & a 33a thrown in for extras). Guess that means we have 141 to go.
But at least now there are some "skips" because he's already done readings when people leave for the season.
Some things I don't really need reminders for, Okay, but have cards anyway. Things like s2s, hair, teeth -the numbers of completed cards mount up pretty fast with those mundane things.
DGS13 told us he has a soccer game at 4:30 today at the school. Think we may go if the weather holds out. Wasn't planning to go to potluck then but dh said we should be back in time. Think I'm looking for excuses not to go at this point. Of course there's not many left. Probably only a couple of weeks. It would be nice if they cut them off after the 15th so they could get the rec hall winterized. All the sprinklers have to be shut off and drained so it can't be used after that because of the fire hazard. Think I'll ask dh about that today. Would be nice to get that done ahead of time. That's a pretty time consuming job.

Happy Anniversary!!! I, too, am extremely grateful for this place. It is a rare safe place with no judgements. A huge Thank You to all who work so hard on it, making it look like it runs itself.
It is taking me too long to CUOP, so that is hit-or-miss right now. I want to make today productive, so first up is am routine and kid transport.

Re: Village Anniversary Monday
Happy Anniversary to Us! Seconding the thanks to all who made it happen! Has it only been five years? I guess that's when we struck out on our own when CEO retired? But I think we landed at CEO's site on an October 1st, too, if I remember correctly, or maybe a few days later after a brief attempt at another site. I miss the "red dress" days (for those of you who weren't with us way back when, once we were on a site where the members' names were in red), but I love our cozy spot here, where we wear whichever colors we like!
Don't know how much time I'll spend at the computer today; my upper back is killing me. I wonder if it's from huddling under the electric blanket? Now that we are out of September, I suppose we can turn the boiler on. In that case, I should program the thermostat to times we actually go to bed/get up rather than the times I wish we'd go to bed/get up! (Last year, I often woke up sweaty b/c the house would be cold when we went to bed, and I'd turn my side of the electric blanket up high, and then the heat would come on well before we got up.)
Going out with Dfriend tonight for a girls' night. It's bingo, which doesn't thrill me, but she says that it's really just an excuse for a bunch of women to get together, drink wine, and nosh. Part of the price of admission is an appetizer or dessert to share; I'm planning to make Nanaimo bars, a lovely Canadian treat DH's cousin introduced me to on our last visit, which I normally can't make 'cause they're full of nuts, which dd is allergic to.
Safe travels to MT and elly today!
Hmm... I just went upstairs to get my cards, which I'd forgotten up there. While I was up there, I did a couple of my chores -- then I came back down without the cards. The good news is that the routines are starting to get ingrained again enough that I know what to do next, cards or no:
• clean up breakfast
• figure out dinner -- should be a crock, as I won't be around to cook
• look up Nanaimo bar recipe -- can't remember if the bottom part needs to be baked or not -- I think it's no-bake, but if it needs to be baked, that should be done sooner rather than later, as it will need time to cool
That should take me till TOTH.
Got those done -- dinner will be beef vegetable soup, and while the bars are no-bake, they require a fair bit of cooling between the layers, so should not be left till the last minute.
OKay, I don't think that was you on the old boards who had such tremendous card counts (in the hundreds), was it?
Next up:
• start crock
• make list of anything I need to get for bars
• go shop for ingredients
I may stop back before I run to the store, or I may not head back till after.

Re: Village Anniversary Monday
finished up time slot to focus on routine Home Loving. These weekly/monthly cards are behind in that time slot and they are almost all showing due/past due. It will take me awhile to get all those cards caught up. feeling somewhat like a juggler who just dropped all his balls and is beginning to start the rotation again.

Re: Village Anniversary Monday
I've been awake since 8 but am still in bed. Slept well last night thanks to melatonin. So did dh. I wonder if that is related to me sleeping well. I was up at 5 because my period arrived but then slept until 7:15 when I heard ds. That wasn't good since he was to be at work at 7. Thankfully, it isn't a regular admin shift but work on the IT project so his hours are more flexible and he went in for 8 and will work to 4 instead.
After hugging him goodbye, I went back to bed and to sleep until just after 8. That's the problem with the melatonin - I drag the day after taking it.
Still haven't decided if I'll do the treadmill or not. It might help with cramps so I guess I should although I'm starting to get hungry now.

Re: Village Anniversary Monday
Well, silly things happen when you get up in the middle of the night. Sneaky people change things around!!!
No problem, Harriet. I didn't have a clue that it was our anniversary. Now you know why I have a calendar and write all birthdays on it. Otherwise, my poor granddaughters would be left out.
I feel pretty good after sleeping another 4 hours. We will get moving pretty soon so I'd best get some breakfast in me and start packing for the road.
elly has probably already left - but DH and I always add a line to our traveling prayer. "May some of them slow down and some of them speed up and make us a big hole"

Re: Village Anniversary Monday
Happy anniversary villagers!
EN I love the wisdom title too I need lots of that today.
No eggs have hatched yet; no egg action of any sort here.
I have granny duty today.
I need to spiff up the kit. start a load of laundry re-make the bed.
Joining the ranks of those that did not rest well last night.
I could not get to sleep so go up and loaded the dish washer.
Prayers going up for the whole village to rest well tonight and all week all month actually!
H. is at work they have a co. meeting this morning.
I need to pick up the yard after it warms up got some of it last night while h. was grilling burgers. We are fine today so that must have come before the recall or at a diff. processor got it at W-mart.
B.S. was in the acceptable range.
No crocheting for me giving my sore elbow a break from that for a while.
