THANKFUL THURSDAY

Okay, you are such a blessing to your grandchildren. You go above and beyond, time after time. They will always know how much you love them and that they can ALWAYS count on you.

Dgd3 had a meltdown last night. Dm was at the shop all evening and she was home with dad. When her mom came in, she preceded to let mom know that she had not had enough time with her and she missed grandma (me). I think I seen them the 24th but hadn't since then. Anyway her mom told her that she could spend the day at the shop with her. Dd2 called today to tell me that if I had time, dgd3 was at the shop. I really didn't feel like getting ready but I did. It was a perfect time for one on one time with her. Dh stayed home today with a touch of something. It now seems to be turning into a cold.

I was at dd2 shop less than 2 hours and she sold 14 servings of gelato. It is going over extremely well. Business has been slow but steady. She now has a FB page and that really seems to have helped. I look for the weekend to be very busy. She has been running ads on the local AM station. She will be running more on 2 local FM stations. The problem with them is that they don't have that many open spots. She kept playing phone tag all week with the ad guy from the paper. They will get on it the first of next week.

When I came in dh asked the #1 ?, what's for supper. We decided on W endys, he wanted a cheeseburger and I wanted chili. I had taken the SUV to the shop but was going to drive my car. No lights came on and it was so dead that it wouldn't release my key. Dh put the battery charger on it and it immediately released the key. This just irritates me that if I don't drive it daily, it doesn't want to start. It just has too much computer stuff on it. Grrrrr.....

The boys will be coming home tomorrow. I am not real sure what she is planning on doing with all of them this weekend. Guess we will play it by ear.

Mystery - I was thinking about you just a bit ago when DS13 started having a tearful breakdown while I was going over his math homework with him. He is an exceptionally smart child but like his DMom he is not strong when it comes to math. Thankfully I have taken Algebra I four times (took that many to finally pass it with a decent grade) and since I just took Statistics this summer it is somewhat fresh in my mind. I had to be patient with him and show him step by step how to solve and check four questions. He is now complaining that Math is not logical... he gets it better but still does not believe it is logical. Oh how I remembering thinking like that when I was his age.

Lilac - I'm glad DD's Gelato shop is picking up business, also glad it is not well by because I don't think my wallet nor my waistline would survive.

Okay - I'm afraid DS13 will end up being like your DGS17, although right now he could care less. DS19 is an amazing shopper and can put together great looking outfits for either sex in no time. He has saved many a female friend and family member who did not know what to get on many an occasion.

Well, it seems I am now going to be working night shift, as the night supervisor has thrown out her back. Gonna stay up for a bit.

Mystery, Sadie says, "At night time, I put it on him, watch an episode of Andy Griffith and take it off." So I was thinking the cheerful comedy tv during the half-hour is very good for helping relax. For both dh and Sadie, probably!

I just won't chase my respiratory health through sunshine again until spring. Yes, it's still a great mood-lifter to see a sunny day is coming your way, no doubt about that. Some researchers think the natural Vitamin D route through the skin to the liver does a better job than the route through the stomach to the liver. It's true that the skin is the way our bodies expect to get it, plus poor digestion/absorption can't hinder it. But past those entry points our bodies do the same with either one, and no difference has been proven. Getting it both ways when I can is kind of like a little insurance in case my body appreciates it more!

A pair of ripped jeans for dd and I found myself checking out a buy-one-get-one-half-off sale on jeans today. She decided on red mottled and gray with a subtle design. I guess jeans just aren't as plain as they used to be. We certainly noticed the homecoming or prom style dresses, OKay. Short, tight and spaghetti strapped, for sure. Dd did just love one, but for most said there was a good possibility a girl would be laughed at rather than look appropriate in them. I'm sure that when It's time to cross that bridge it will be a time-consuming one.

Harmony, yes I will enjoy the Ducks guys again, whenever I need to see a "grounded" program. LOL. I also got to see BBTheory this evening. Why Howard can't manage to write his mother on this trip I just can't imagine.

scattered, dd2 opened a paint your own pottery (ceramics) studio last Saturday. The gelato was just an added bonus. It is pricey and I was skeptical. A 4 oz. cup is $3.25 and a 6 oz. cup is $5.00. People are just loving it and not batting an eye at the prices. So I am thinking that dd2 should continue to go with her instincts and she should be all right. Dd2 says the gelato is so addictive to her, that she has quit eating it, because if she starts, she has a hard time quitting.

I made it through the day but took an hour in the back of the car for a nap after lunch. And I think I really slept for a few minutes of that time, at least. The 1 hour went by quickly according to my inner clock (which is why I thought I slept.)

Didn't have time to get to Cos tco so ended up paying too much for toothpaste. (I had sent dh to get it on Tuesday but he didn't buy it because he thought it was too much there. So I paid way more today because I didn't have the strength/time to deal with Cost co. I'm still annoyed about that, since I sent him for only that one item and it shouldn't be my responsibility to warn him about the price of toothpaste.)

There were car accidents blocking my way back to dh so the 10 minute drive took over 30. And our cell phones weren't working right - it was as if we were on a satellite call, with long pauses and dh constantly talking over me. Don't know if it is a problem with the Galaxy Note, dh's old phone that I'm using now, or our cell surface but I was standing still at the entrance to a store when I talked with him.

Got home 10 hours after leaving home this morning. Ate dinner quickly (junk food picked up on the way home) and then reclined until I went to bed at 7:30. Talked on the phone for 90 minutes and then have been catching up on the websites I read.

Tomorrow should be a quiet day. Probably paperwork for me.

Harriet, Isn't it fun to watch great old shows occasionally! It's fun to "rediscover" oldies.

OKay, Did you shop with your DS13 for 4.5 hours so he could help a she? I thought I read DS. I didn't realize boys went shopping for that long. I thought I read that right, but it's the end of the day and my brain doesn't function at 100% capacity after dinner!

Lilac, So sorry Dgd3 had a meltdown. Life is so hard for little ones sometimes. They get so frustrated. I hope if she's sick, she'll get well soon, too. Being sick brings on meltdowns so easily.

MysteryWoman, I hope you get rested. Do you ever nap? I know some people are totally anti-napping, but sometimes resting re-energizes us, even if we don't sleep. I'm trying to not nap too late because it was interfering with getting to sleep at night- especially during the full moon. I was facing that test, was worked up and worried.

Sadie, I hope that electric stuff helps your DH, too. Pain is not fun.

Booksaver, What are you currently reading? I'm trying to finish a book on writing fiction before the clutter-busting book comes. But today my "Writer's Digest" came, DH brought me "Woman's World" and there's an article about getting more energy. I need to read that one!

I sent 2 stories out today, my knees are sore from being at the laptop too long, so I'm going to need to call it a night, I'm afraid. I'm disappointed how I didn't do my light cleaning day today, which is on my weekly plan.

Ivy, dgd3's meltdown was probably two-fold. She still has a cold and being in daycare, it will probably hang around for some time. The hardest part for her is the adjustment to her mom opening her studio and being totally involved in that. Up until last week, at least evenings/weekends were normal for them. Now that she is open, she spends a lot of time there. Also, dgd3 and I are very close and we hadn't seen each for at least 10 days. Recently, she had decided that she was just too grown up to be held. Today she told me that she wasn't too big to be held.

Ivy, gelato doesn't have air in it and ice cream does. I never knew that but I should have. When I was a kid, I would stir and stir my ice cream. Then I would wonder why there wasn't much there. Now I know that I was stirring the air out. Gelato is the texture of homemade ice cream but is a lot firmer. They use a lot less butterfat and use real fruits, etc., depending on what kind it is. Supposedly it is healthier. I don't know about that, but I do know it is delicious. Her gelato case/freezer was so expensive, plus the 2 sizes of cups, lids and little, flat, colored plastic spatulas that you eat it with. She also lets you sample and that means a new one for each flavor. Plus, each time they are serving they put on disposable gloves. Lots of upfront costs but paying off. One thing she needs to locate is foam boxes for big orders. Several times she has had people pick up 7.
