Truly Terrific Thursday
Good Morning Villagers!
I have been absent lately, mainly because I have been feeling Lazy and didn't want anyone to know. I was off the last 2 days and did not get near what I needed to do done. I am heading to my DP/BFF's other house for the weekend tomorrow after work. Tonight I need to stop by L owes to pick up a new faucet. DS19 and I have done everything we can to get the old one to work and it just isn't getting any better. Yesterday I got through 3 Lol's and have my Card file just about ready to print and put to work. I created Zone cards based on F lyL ady to go with the rest of the cards.
I am s2s and know need to comb my hair, grab my coffee, and my lunch and then it is off to work I go.
Have a great day!

Good Morning!
Scattered - It's good to see your post. I have been missing you.
I am seeing zero visual progress on GMAT. it seems there are back-to-back commitments that take huge chunks of my day. I'm not giving up those commitments, so I best be finding a way to make it all work together.
Today's little 2"x 2" square on monthly paper calendar has commitments scribbled all over it. However, if I look at the day in half & hourly time slot view with only those commitment time slots filled in, there are plenty of time slots left so progress can be made. Instead of focusing on the filled time slots and giving up on making progress before I start, I need to focus on all those time slots that are available.

Yeah, me too, Okay (time slots). I've been puttering with l&&ts and need to really get down to brass tacks today. It's supposed to go to 79 and 70's tomorrow. Then it's rain forecast at least until we plan to leave on Tuesday. Feeling so torn, but there's not really anything I can do about leaving.
Now I'm looking for my SPECIAL notebook. Has lots of data and info in it. Can't even imagine where it's gotten itself to. I've looked in every cabinet, bag, box, bin. I know it was here a few weeks ago and just how far can something like that go in 440 square feet?
I'd like to give up looking, figuring it will just show up. I'm sure I've tucked it in a space where it would fit and not be real visible! It could even be in a spot where I've already 'looked'. Maybe I'm looking like the guys do?
First up is to do a day-by-day listing of everything that needs to be done. Hoping dh will be able to do the running he needs to do with the car today -so I can get it at least semi-packed before the rains start.

Re: Truly Terrific Thursday
Good morning! Nice to see you again, scattered. Maybe you needed some down time. I think I did; I wasn't very productive yesterday.
Hi OK and Dee! Always great to work alongside you; you are both inspiring!
TaDa!
- up before 7
- s2s-ed
- note for dd17 written
- tea
- drove dgirls to school.
ToDos before I leave at 8:20-ish:
- pay bill for chicken feed (long story; kids picked it up on Sunday while we were away)
- make lunch for myself
- teeth and face care
- pack bag for waiting room: my notebook and a book
- pack bag for moms group
- other odds and ends?
Dh is still in bed. He did go to bed later than I did, likely after midnight. He was up working, of course.
PODA:
x girls to school
/ a.m. routine
moms group set up and then meeting until 11:15
moms group clean up until 12/12:15
go to mall to shop for a couple items for dd17 - and for a new sports b ra for myself
go to school to pick up dd17 for pedi. endocrin. appt.
take her to her pedi. endocrin. appt. (hopefully, don't wait too long; this office is very slow, unlike dermatology here)
get chili going in the crock pot -- dd17's request
make sure main bathroom up is clean
quick pick up in living areas
(trim front bushes? -- I doubt I'll have time)
jog with dh; I'm planning to only go 1 mile and concentrate on lifting my legs up higher. I saw photos of myself at the race, and I don't lift up my feet very high. I jogged 35 minutes yesterday.
finish meal prep and wrap up bday presents!
welcome ds and dfriends S, R, and A to our house!
celebrate dd17!!
clean up
go to bed
That should do it!

Re: Truly Terrific Thursday
On the treadmill starting my cool-down song but I'd have to speed up to cool down since I'm going so slow. My back was worse than I thought last night and spasmed when I shifted after getting into bed. The kind of scream out in pain and then keeping whimpering over and over spasm. Woke dh up and he did his best to help me roll over into extension position and then put the heat bag on my back in the right place. Then he promptly lay back down and I had to rouse him to put the covers over me! After a couple of hours I was able to get out of bed and take pain killers (I didn't want to wake him up again to get me meds.) Slept fine the rest of the night.
Thankfully, I had gone to bed an hour early so have only lost 1 hour of rest (since I was awake 2 hours.) This morning I'm going slow and steady on the treadmill since gentle walking is the best remedy for my back.
Time now to stretch a bit and then s2s so I can start breakfast at 8:30.

Re: Truly Terrific Thursday
Just realized, Helia, that your dd17 and our dgd17 are about the same age! Does that make me OLD?
I feel 45! Well, maybe 50. Felt 40 for a very long time. Is today her birthday? Is it "birthing" day for you? If so, congratulations and happy day all around!
Hate that "spasming", Kathryn. I never know when it's going to hit me. Same thing here, dh may need to help me turn over so I can stretch out. I can't really help crying out so he always knows when it happens. I'm hoping as I walk more this winter that it will help some. I absolutely know I have to walk a LOT more -both for my bones and the diabetes (and just overall good health!) Hope your back is doing better as the day wears on.

Re: Truly Terrific Thursday
Good morning, villagers ~
Today I am happy to stay home for Apron Day. We are expecting storms, though. If I lose power, I can still deal with my nemisis, sorting through piles of paper.
Weather ~ Yesterday I was hot running errands in a short sleeve Tshirt because the temp was 79 or 80. By this afternoon we will have dropped to upper 30s to low 40s. Tonight's temps will be hovering around cold enough to snow.
How crazy is this?
Lucylee's checking account balance ~ Hmm new grandbabies and football travels will do that!
Way to go, Fay!
Kathryn ~ As someone who has had to deal with no water/no electricity more than once at home and frequently when camping, here are some options for your Nov 4th community celebration:
* Almost everyone has a thermos. Ask everyone to make coffee the night before or extremely early in the morning and bring it to the church in a thermos.
* Does the church have a gas stove? It can be lit manually to heat tea kettles for tea and instant coffee.
* Toilets can be flushed manually with a bucket of water. Ask the campers in your community to fill up their 2-5 gallon water containers and start leaving them at the church in the days before the outage. Ask someone to be washroom attendant.
* Rent a portable toilet. Or ask if the local rental company would donate the service, it would be a good public relations opportunity. Cold and awkward in November, though, unless your church has large enough doors that the whole unit can be inside the building.
* Ask people with big RVs to fill the water tanks and park in the church lot for attendees to use the bathrooms. Use their gas stoves to make coffee and keep food warm.
* Ask everyone to donate bottles of hand sanitizer.
* Sure you can keep food warm for the luncheon. Think winter picnic. Wrap food in layers of aluminum foil, newspapers, blankets or coats.
* Ask for the loan of gas grills to keep food warm.
* Ask a local caterer to loan chafing dishes with the little oil candles or propane tanks to keep food warm. Again, it's a good PR opportunity for them.
Most important, do not cope with this all by yourself. This is an opportunity for a team from your congregation to step up as an emergency committee.
There must be some who are not able to be on permanent committees but would love to help out for this one-time special deal.
Who is not available to help with Christmas celebrations because they travel to visit family?
Who are the menfolk who go camping and hunting in winter?
Let them feel good about volunteering, and start the holiday season satisfied that they've done a good deed for their family and friends.

Re: Truly Terrific Thursday
When I first looked at todays topic I read, Truly Scattered Thursday! Huh? Read it again and it was Truly Terrific Thursday. Much better.
Yesterday we were suppose to be in the 80's and sunny. It was cloudy till mid afternoon and never left the 60's. Today it is windy, cloudy and cool. Summer is over and fall is here. I mowed yesterday and had 3 large industrial bags of leaves and I just mowed the front and sides because the backyard didn't have leaves. I will be glad when all the leaves are off the trees, so I can get the yard cleaned up for the winter. Dgss6&8 and I raked 1 bag on Tuesday. So far that is 8 bags and we are talking smooshed repeatedly or chopped up by the mower. Unless they blow away I will have every bit of that to contend with or more.
Tuesday and Wednesday business was steady at dd2 pottery studio. Weekdays up until now have been slow except for the gelato business. With the radio coverage and grand opening it has really turned the corner. With the newspaper pictures and write up the weekend before, I was surprised when business didn't pick up.
Yesterday the man who bought our house called and asked about the sprinkler system shutoff. I told him I would come by and show him where it was and how to shut it off. He told me his wife has ovarian cancer.
When I went over I went in and visited awhile. He was to have knee replacement surgery on Aug. 5, so the weekend before they were trimming shrubs, etc. She was carrying an arm load and forgot about the 3 steps down from the yard to the back driveway and fell on her face and jammed that armload of stuff in her stomach. He had his surgery and started his recovery. She kept having weird stomach problems, so she went to the dr. She had a variety of tests and they found ovarian cancer. We all know that that is one of those cancers that you usually find too late. Because of what I always call a God thing, hers was found early. She has had 2 chemo treatments. They will wait one month and then do a complete hysterectomy and then 4 more chemo treatments. The drs. assure them that it has not spread, but the chemo is to make sure no cancer cells will spread from the surgery. She has a wonderful positive attitude. They are so happy with that house. She showed me all the rooms. She commented that it was so immaculate when they moved in. She works for the county, cleaning office buildings, so I knew she would notice if it wasn't. I just wish that the last 3 houses I have moved into, in the last 26 years were as clean as that house was. When I left there I was really down over the house, wondering why we sold it. I had that issue every time I went into that house after we moved out. I was fine until I went over there and then I missed it. I hadn't been in it for over 4 months, so that hadn't been an issue. It helps that they are so happy with it.
I plan to stay home today and get something done, so guess I better get started.

Re: Truly Terrific Thursday
Hi everybody. Scattered, thanks for opening. We all have lazy days. I think I've had a lazy summer this year.
OKay, isn't it true that sometimes we work and work for a while before we see any progress. Much of my stuff doesn't show a bit.
Dee, did you find your notebook? I hate when I lose something, I can't let go of it in my head, it bothers me until I find it...and if I don't I'm paralyzed!
Hi helia. Your schedule is always so busy. Kathryn, are you feeling better after your walk? Booksaver, you had a bunch of very good ideas for Kathryn.
Lilac, it's nice that the new owners are so happy with the house. Too bad about their health, though. Did you have that many leaves at your old house? We have to deal with bunches of oak leaves here too. Ours fall later than yours, though.
A year ago DH filled some papers out for a church member as a favor and he didn't keep copies...so I had to find them in my files and darken and copy and scan and email. A little miffed that our free favor has turned in to so much additional work that they should have taken care of themselves. ..sigh... telling myself to "be nice". Rest of my desk paperwork is done, yay.
I am gong off to sew a bit while DH is out working.

Harmony: I was better and then I was on my knees to wipe some sap from the plants off the floor and when I went to get back up, my knee gave out. My next task was devotions so I've been sitting with a heat bag on my back while I did those.
Next up: Sunday School prep. First step - get the curriculum from the church.
