So nice to see you again Suzlew!

Thanks, OK!! I feel like we should confirm that first. . . Dd14 will see her teacher Tuesday, and she will know. By way of explanation, dd14 left the clinic early, after all the clinic sessions but before dinner and the faculty band concert where the honors band members were announced. So, presumably her friend got it right, but we haven't heard it from the band itself.

((Dee)) with the long week.

There were actually 2 meetings tonight: one was general winter athletics and then there was a synchro. meeting. This is my first ever athletic meeting! The coach sounded pretty strict re: attending practices to earn letters; b/c of travel and band activities (rehearsals in the evening, some band travel, maybe), dd14 will miss some practices, and I am worried she won't make the 90% practices for the letter. Dd14's response: it's fine; it doesn't matter. And band is definitely a priority; her band director has made that clear, and she is the one strong oboe in the current level band. I love her attitude - wanting to try new things but not hung up on uber-performance. I wish I were more like that; I was the kind of kid who wouldn't try anything unless I was 90% sure I would be really good at it. Dd14 and I were home by 8:30. Then, I called dbro to touch base with him re: Tgiving meal. I'm going to bring a spiral cut ham, so I'll go to the Honeybaked ham store tomorrow to ask about getting one on Wednesday. Not sure I need to order one.

I think I'll veg for a while and then go to bed. Dh is out at his dinner; not sure when he'll be back.

Again thank you all for the birthday wishes.

Had a great nap and then was able to write another page on my essay. Ugh I think tomorrow night is going to be crunch time. Hopefully the writing juices will be running better than tonight.

Gonna watch a bit of TV and then it is off to sleep.

I missed that it was going to be scattered's birthday today!

lucylee, I know that you are pleased to have the cards off your mind.

SuzLew, wonderful to see you here and wonderful to "hear" you talk about sewing!

I am feeling much better about holidays. I called ds27 and within 3 minutes he had both celebrations planned down to the start time and what they planned to bring. He can be my most frustrating child sometimes, but he certainly does know how to make a decision. Both our get-togethers will be on the day-afters, so that all will still be in the holiday spirit.

The only one among us who got to church this a.m. was dd, with the service for HRH's aunt also happening not long after. Today at the graveside service I was able to invite dbil to Christmas as well, in person, in front of dstepson, so he can never say he didn't know!!!!

The graveside service promised some difficulty because of wind and cold. I chose a felt scarf and it turned out to be ideal around my head/ears. I was very grateful for it.

I have such a hard time watching anything on tv "live" that I can't even sit through this great commercial-free show on public tv. I'm recording it and will watch it in sections some other time.

Right now I'd rather be planning menues and the grocery list. Tomorrow I have to wait on a phone call, which I'm hoping will come before noon. Then I want to go out and buy whatever supplies we will need for the week. After tomorrow, I would prefer not to have to step foot inside a grocery store until after Thursday. The parking lots and crowds are just too stressful.

I was able to catch DSis on the phone tonight. She has already bought disposable plates for the family party and wants to use "real" forks because she has plenty. Other attendees are bringing things that I considered as safe possibilities for the length of time we have to travel. We agreed that DH and I will bring up coffee and a couple of gallons of milk, because we can keep those plenty cold in a cooler. She thinks around 30 people will show up on Thursday, and a significant number of those will be kids who will drink milk. I also drink it in my coffee, and prefer plain milk to anything else because coffee creamers tend to be way too sweet for my taste.

DSis has a new K*rig coffee maker. I just looked at prices online for the maker and the coffee. Wow. I love coffee but that seems pricey. Hmm ... now that I think about it, though, the K coffee is a lot less expensive than buying a cup anywhere, even the cheapest gas station. I guess I've never calculated how much mine costs per cup at home because I have no idea how many cups I get out of a bag of beans.

* Oh, I got up to check something in the kitchen and this sat here awhile. Hi, Harriet!

Booksaver: what bugs me about the K coffee maker (and the other ones with the same design) is the waste. Your beans came in one bag, not dozens and dozens of plastic containers. And the coffee I buy for guests (we don't drink coffee) comes in a recyclable tin (unless I reuse the tin for something else.) A cheap K coffee maker almost makes sense for me since I'm only make a couple of cups a month at most and it makes fancy teas and hot chocolates which I would have more often. I keep the coffee in the freezer to help make it last longer but I could be serving lousy, lousy coffee and not know it. Still the waste factor keeps me away from even considering switching.

I'm off to bed now. Didn't get anything done this evening but that's ok.

Bookie....
I bought a single serving coffee maker at Big lots for 12 bucks. It uses any coffee you want. It has a reusBle basket. It's easy to clean and makes a great single cup of coffee.

Good Evening, Villagers! :D

I wasn't feeling well this a.m. so I did not post, nor cuop. :( However, I felt better later and baby-stepped and wrote my ta da list. Here goes:
1- I wrote 1 long letter to a long letter pal.
2- I dumped trash from all waste baskets all over the house.
3- I dusted the baby powder from the master bathroom. Although we use it in the shower stall, it still gets in the tub, on the top of the toilet tank, etc..
4- I dusted, swept, and re-decorated in my small office.
5- I read on my Nook, both on my Nook and on-line, too.
6- I fixed weekly medications.
7- I finished crocheting DD a black and white beanie slouch to give her on Thanksgiving. She said she wears a lot of black and white.
8- I finished signing, sealing, and stamping pen pal holiday cards, to go out tomorrow.
9- I dusted the master bedroom.
10- I fed my cat.
11- I rested awhile.
12- I said my prayers and wrote in my journal.

That's it for today. Hoping to feel better in the morning.
Goodnight and have a good sleep, Everybody!
