What tunes are you listening to as you get ready for the Holiday week here in the US and the Holiday Season worldwide?

I will be listening to Country on my way to work. When I get home it is crunch time on my Essay as it is do at Midnight.

On the new satellite radio we have in the car, two of our channels have been converted to holiday music already. Yuck.

Around here I'm pretty strict. (Remember, we don't have 'Thanksgiving' to mark the official start of the season.) I'm singing Christmas music in choir as we prepare for a community evening of music on Dec. 2 but at home, no Christmas music until the first Sunday of Advent or Dec. 1, whichever comes first. This year it will be Dec. 1. Our outdoor lights go on then, as well. In church we try to focus on Advent Hymns but dh will lead Christmas carols before service each Sunday. And we have 2 or 3 Seniors' Christmas dinners we'll be singing at. But those are in December.

So, for the next 9 days, no Christmas music. My day will begin with Jon Schmidt, Adelle, Meatloaf and Lindsey Sterling to rock me into motion, followed by love songs from Love Actually and more Jon Schmidt to soothe, centre and inspire me during my cool down/floor exercises. (Once Christmas music starts in the house, my exercise music switches to Trans Siberian Orchestra so I have hard rock Christmas music to get me moving.)

I'm up and at it again, mixing and baking muffins for ds. They are almost done baking. I've rinsed the mixing bowls, unloaded the dishwasher and found my missing credit card (I had it in my hand to make a bill payment yesterday and moments later I couldn't find it.) The muffins just dinged, so it is time to hit the treadmill.

Good morning! I was glad to hear your dcat was doing OK last night, scattered. I had been thinking about him. Funny, we both have cats with abscesses. I hope your cat's wound heals more easily than Lily's. I'm not holding my breath as this is the 2nd time we've dealt with this. That is a LOT of $$ for a fundraising donation. The trip sounds like an awesome experience for ds, though!

Dd14 confirmed with her oboe teacher -- she did make the honors band. It is an honor, but it is not like all states or something. Dd14 didn't want to try for that. All it means is a weekend in January spent at this neighboring Univ. working with the other band members (and the Univ. faculty and students) toward a concert put on that Sunday afternoon. Now that I think of it, that University is known for having an excellent education dept., at least in terms of practical training. This would fit that reputation in terms of music education; what a great experience for the Univ. music students.

I'm feeling a twinge of concern too for Harriet's dgs. . . . .I hope it is nothing too serious.

I was asleep by 11 pm, and I can feel it this morning! What a wonderful idea, getting enough sleep at night.

Girls are off to school. Dh is still in bed. Of course, he was up much later than me working. I'm sipping tea.

-finish getting caught up on laundry; ds has already warned me that he is coming home tomorrow with laundry
-groc. store
-exercise of some sort
-haircut appt. at 1
-pick up dd14's friend at 4:25 and take the 2 girls to dd14's oboe lesson; they're going to do a duet for the district solo/ensemble festival and so want to get started choosing music
- supper: rice, chicken and artichokes in wine sauce -- not sure I have white wine -- and steamed broccoli, if it is still OK.
-perhaps sundry other items from my list - email dfriend back, check online bills.
-perhaps have the girls make the cranberry sauce to take with us tomorrow; they like doing this
-perhaps have the girls take Pepper to the dog-o-mat. She really stinks. They usually like doing this too. I think dd14 has a friend sleeping over, so the 3 of them could go. . .

--Oh, my Lily is racing around the house like a mad cat.. . . I guess she is feeling better.

Good Morning!

No tunes here yet. I might play some later. This morning I did read my morning Bible readings out loud and record them. I am enjoying listening to them as I do chores. Today was kinda of a test of the process, but I am think it will become a regular occurrence.

DBrother requested help applying online for SS disability. He is going to come by this morning and we will get the process started.

yesterday I couldn't co-op so hello to everyone.

today: is declutter the refrigerator for any unnecessaries as it makes room for what I need to bring on Thursday.
it is also laundry put away day as I have 3 large loads of clean laundry and items at the bottom of the stairs.

Good morning everyone!

Kathryn, I hope your son was feeling better this morning. My DS just had a bout of flu. He had previously said he didn't believe in flu shots...well now he does!!

We awake to country music here--not DH's favorite, but I think it is growing on him as he doesn't want to change the station.
I listen to gospel in the car and sometimes at home...and in my head!! Also enjoy Steven Curtis Chapman. We have nearly worn out his CD "Speechless".

Today I must find a turkey breast for T-day. If not, I will get the smallest turkey available (which will be way too much for 2 people). Will just freeze the leftovers if I have to do that. Already bought a turkey breast once, but we ate it already...this is what I get for flying by the seat of my pants without a menu plan.

Good morning, villagers ~

Today is Trading Tuesday for me. There are a bunch of things downstairs that need to go upstairs, and several things upstairs that need to come down. The shopping bags need to go back out to the car, and a few things in the car need to come indoors. I woke up really stiff this morning, so I've been moving slowly so far, trying to gently loosen my back before I start lifting things. I almost always listen to the radio first thing in the morning, top 40 pop, which means lots of dancing to get the joints moving.

Errand day yesterday. Oof! I know the Monday crowds were much smaller than they will be tomorrow, but they were still bad enough.

I went to 2 grocery stores. The couple of things I couldn't find are things we won't need for a couple of weeks. Even with DH being home for lunch Thursday and Friday, I think we are fully stocked to not have to set foot inside a grocery store until the middle of next week.

Kathryn & Cowinkie ~ Thanks for your comments on DSis's K coffee maker. DSis did mention that she bought the little refillable cup, so I considered just grinding some beans Thursday morning and taking up a container. Then I remembered she talked about expecting 30 or so people. This year we'll have at least 5, possibly as many as 8 kids between 10 months and 4 years old, very much at the underfoot stage. DSis's kitchen is a lot larger than mine, but no one's kitchen can handle that many people (plus a little dog and cat) without craziness. There will be a bunch of traffic blocking the path between the coffee maker, trash can, and sink. For convenience to make the holiday less stressful, I bought a big box of the little plastic cups.

I agree with Kathryn about the waste of all that packaging, though. I acknowledge that it's a good choice for things like this party, maybe for a busy office because of the super-easy cleaning. For me at home, though, no.

I'm not sure I'd go with a single-cup maker in any case, unless I get to the point of having to cut out most coffee. In cold weather, I make half a pot in the morning, drink a mug or 2 with plenty of milk for breakfast, then put the rest in a thermos so it stays hot the rest of the day. In hot weather, I turn off the pot as soon as it's done brewing. I wonder about the increased electricity needed to brew multiple cups 1 at a time.

However, I don't wonder about it enough to do any research about it right this moment. My current coffee maker is still going strong, I won't be replacing it any time soon.

OK, back to work. 5x5 in addition to 3Ds:

As usual, the day is not going as planned. Not bad -- just different.

I responded to some emails that had sat in my inbox for a few days. Then, I helped dh bring his car to the mechanic since his muffler is shot. Then, we just went straight to get the oil changed, etc. in the minivan. I now have 2 headlights again! Woohoo! Then, I drove dh to his office. He just emailed me and told me R will be picking him up, so I don't have to make another trip to pick him up. I have also s2s-ed and made the bed and checked online bills and. . .surely I've done something else. I'm on to finishing the a.m. routine, updating laundry, and lunch. I think I'll go straight from haircut @ 1 pm to the groc. store.

I'll have to turn on some tunes this afternoon to keep up with you ladies. I listen to kid books on tape while driving around; I find they help me not get so irritated at those obnoxious aggressive drivers out there.

Just came back from Road Clean-up. We do a mile on each side of our gate so that means 8 crews of 2 at least. 2 sides of road x 4 ends of road = 8 crews. We meet in the middle and walk back socializing to the goodies and coffee at the end. It took less than an hour to clean 2 miles and we have about 25 big bags of garbage plus a truck fender, parts of several tires and a slab of roof.

Now DH is in the shower (I'm waiting) and then we will take the MH to repair and then go to CA to take delivery of the car. Busy day.

Today its a thankful Tues. here no tunes I decluttered cd player and discs a while back enjoying the quiet in the house this morning.
Yea did the shredding that's been waiting.
It's been raining but just lightly.
Trash is at the curb.
We did not get the winds that were in the forecast last night mixed feelings about that I was sort of hoping that it would help get the last of the leaves out of the trees so I could get done with raking them up. Sigh oh well.
